Chapter 42
Chapter 42
“Alaric, you must guard the company’s project documents, no matter what. The last time Skyy hacked the system, Reeves Group lost three projects with an initial estimate of 360 million dollars. Apparently, Skyy has returned for more after his last success, determined to steal Reeves Group’s important project information. We can’t let that son–of–a–gun get away with it.”
Derick Hunt was burning with anxiety as Alaric Webls tapped frantically on the keyboard with a solemn look.
His defensive skills were not as good when Skyy attacked the system last time. However, with additional help from Randall Reeves’s expert, he could better guard the company’s system and confidential documents.
“Mr. Hunt, I will do my best to safeguard the company’s confidential documents,” Alaric said.
Moments later, his brow furrowed, and he said solemnly, “You were right, Mr. Hunt. Skyy tried to hack into the project. documents again.”
Derick growled, “Damu it, that bastard is recklesst Alaric, hold on to your defense. We must not again let Skyy steal the project information at all costs.”
Both men were agitated. Randall Reeves looked at the computer gloomily, his eyes cold as ice.
After an hour of tussle, the battle finally subsided.
The computer screen returned to normal.
Derick excitedly patted Alaric on the shoulder and said, “You defeated Skyy, Alaric! You’re really something, man, not just a pretty face after all
Alaric pushed up his large black–framed nerdy glasses and said awkwardly, “It’s not my doing, Mr. Hunt. The expert hired by Boss reinforced the firewall well. Otherwise, I wouldn’t have been able to resist Skyy’s vicious attack.”
Derick hugged him and said, “No need to be humble, old boy. The project information is safe, thanks to you. See you tonight at the Twilight Bar, my treat!”
Just then, Randall’s cell phone rang; it was a text message notification.
[You have transferred 20 million dollars from your account.]
[You have transferred 20 million dollars from your account.]
[You have transferred 20 million dollars from your account.]
The notification rang ten times, and the same message appeared ten times, like a haunting ghost.
Derick was shocked out of his wits when he saw the rapid messages appearing on Randall’s phone. His face twisted, and he was at a loss for words.
“Boss, money, uh, money has been transferred out. 200 million dollars! 200 million!” he stammered.
Randall stared at him rattling away, and said coldly, “I’m not blind. I can see that.”
Derick immediately grabbed Alaric and growled, “What’s going on Alaric? Didn’t you defeat Skyy? Who transferred the 200 million dollars?”
“I thought that Skyy’s target was the same as last time. Therefore, I tried my best to protect the project information instead. I didn’t expect him to come after the company’s money.”

Alaric was about to lose his mind. He was focused on safeguarding the project information for whatever it took.
He even risked changing the protective net set up by the expert for that purpose. However, he did not expect Skyy to have a new target
Alaric felt like slapping his face to punish himself for the oversight.
“Alaric Webb, you, you-” Derick pointed his finger at Alaric; he was so angry that he could not speak clearly. “You are nothing more than a pretty face, you useless imbecile!”
Derick had never felt so aggrieved in all his years at Reeves Group.
After all, Reeves Group had always enjoyed a high and mighty existence in Archiland. No one dared to provoke the company like Skyy repeatedly,
On the other hand, Alaric was confused by the incident. He was a top–notch hacker ranked fifth on the global hacker list, but he was just a useless imbecile. He wanted to cry.
Derick continued to lecture him. “You have the check to cry, Alaric. You’re worse than a useless imbecile.”
“Piss off!”
Randall’s said in a low voice that sent everyone trembling.

“Boss told you to get lost, Alaric. Why are you still standing there in a daze? Get lost!” Derick scoffed.
Randall stared at him instead. Derick suddenly felt a chill down his spine, not knowing what he had said wrongly.
Randall’s gaze was cold as ice. “You get lost too!”
Derick felt aggrieved after all the hard work he had put in. He retreated silently together with Alaric without another word.
Randall stared at the transfer notifications on his cell phone; his face darkened.
“Why 200 million dollars?” he wondered.
There was more than that in the company account. Why did Skyy only transfer 200 million dollars?
“Could it be Randall speculated but could not conclude.
Meanwhile, at the Scenic Bay Villa.
Milo looked at his brother with admiration and said childishly, “You’re so amazing, Oliver. You transferred 200 million dollars from our scumbag dad. He must be hopping mad by now, haha!”
The corners of Oliver’s lips curled up into a smile. He said arrogantly. “He wants to marry our mommy with 200 million dollars. Serves him right to lose 200 million for no reason.”
Milo clapped like a seal and said excitedly, “Amazing, Oliver! You’re such an expert in infuriating others. Our scumbag dad will not survive the hit. You’re truly amazing!”
Milo suddenly felt a change in Oliver’s expression and asked curiously, “Oliver, what’s wrong? Why do you suddenly look unhappy?”
“If that fool, Alaric Webb, didn’t change the protective system today, I might not have succeeded.”
Milo knew his brother could easily crack Reeves Group’s protective system. Yet Oliver lamented he almost failed this time around.
Alaric Webb did not have the ability to set up such a protective system for sure. Therefore, it could only be-
“Oliver, do you think it’s Asteroid?”
“Who else in this world can make me anxious other than him?”
Oliver knew he had succeeded today because he used a diversionary tactic.
He fooled Alaric into thinking he targeted Reeves Group’s project information.
Alaric was anxious to safeguard the project information and modified the protective system as a result. Therefore, Oliver succeeded.
However, Oliver did not expect Asteroid to come on so strongly. He could not crack the protective system that Asteroid had set up.
Did Asteroid throw him off when he least expected it?
“Who is Asteroid who works for his scumbag dad?” Oliver wondered.
“Whoever he is? I’ll find him!” He was determined.
Milo was asleep when Christine Paul returned home while Oliver read the report on the surge in industrial materials on his
computer.
“Why is Oliver reading a report on the surge in industrial materials?” Christine wondered.
Knowing Oliver had a peculiar interest in financial reports, stock speculation, futures trading, and the like, Christine did not overthink it. Moreover, she had no interest or understanding of such matters.
She always felt that Oliver was a genius in his previous life who had made a comeback.
“Oliver, thank you for caring for Milo.”
Oliver closed the page with a swift move of the mouse. He looked at his mother and said, “Mommy, I’m not tired. You must be exhausted after a hard day’s work, Mommy. I have prepared some chicken soup with Milo’s recipe for you: Taste it, Mommy.”
“Thank you, Oliver.”
Christine gently stroked Oliver’s soft hair. At this moment, Milo slowly opened his sleepy eyes and said childishly. “Mommy, you’re back!”
Christine gently sat by his bed and asked, “Do you feel better, Milo?”
Milo crawled onto Christine’s lap like a kitten and said cutely. “Mommy, Brother took good care of me. I think I’ve

recovered. Don’t worry, Mommy.”
“You are such good boys. Mommy will make you guys dinner.”
Oliver stood beside Milo after Christine left. “Kudos, Milo. You played a sick kid so well.”
Milo covered his mouth and snickered, “Oliver, your calmness is as steady as ever, hala“
The two siblings looked at each other and smiled.
