Christine Paul nodded and said politely. “Thanks for inviting me”
Elizabeth Reeves smiled lovingly and said, “Dr. Nancy, you’re most welcome. The children are happy that you are staying for dinner. Am I right, kids?” She turned to look at the children.
“Yes!” They responded in unison.
Milo Paul responded enthusiastically while Oliver nodded coolly. Lindsay raised a small card to support them zealously. They were all Christine’s loyal fans.
The three children had different personalities, but they were all good–looking. They were a sight for sore eyes when they stood beside each other.
“The Reeves family has not been so lively for a long time.”
Elizabeth smiled gladly, wishing all three were her grandchildren.
The dining room of the Reeves family was luxuriously decorated, with a Dratish–style table over 30 feet long as a centerpiece. The tableware was made of premium bone porcelain, and the cutlery in silver.
Elizabeth sat at the head of the table while Daisy and Randall sat by her side. Lindsay usually sat with them, but today she chose to sit beside Christine like an obedient little girl.
Milo and Oliver were twins; they could communicate telepathically.
“Look at Little Tail, Brother. She didn’t sit with her scumbag dad but insisted on following us and sitting beside Mommy!”
“She is an insulator for us from Mommy. What’s wrong with that?”
Milo instantly understood what his brother meant. Their mother glared at them as if wanting to disown them.
By sitting beside Christine, Lindsay could easily ease Christine’s burning gaze by half, causing less harm to the boys. Oliver and Milo secretly heaved a sigh of relief.
Just then, Lindsay suddenly turned around. Her doe–like eyes lit up as she showed the brothers what she had written.
“Do you think Lindsay is a robot?”
Oliver and Milo were speechless. Why did Little Tail join the telepathic group chat between them without permission?
Elizabeth said lovingly while the children had fun at the table, “Lindsay likes you guys very much. She is rarely so clingy.”
Milo smiled awkwardly and said, “She’s not just clingy; she’s like a little tail on me. Brother and I call her Little Tail.”
Christine frowned slightly and said, “How can you nickname your classmate?”
Milo was stunned. He quickly lowered his head and said, “Sorry, Mommy.”
Everyone present was shocked.
Christine felt as if she had been struck by lightning.
Milo quickly realized he made a booboo and hurriedly explained, “I was wrong. Mommy has taught my brother and me since we were young that we can’t give other children nicknames. We have to be friendly and get along with everyone.”
Milo’s quick save made the adults think he did not finish his sentence earlier.
It was indeed a close shave.
Elizabeth was amused. “Dr. Nancy, for a minute, I thought you were the boys‘ mother,” she said smilingly.
Christine smiled awkwardly. “Children are cute in their own ways.”
Randall saw that Christine was a nervous wreck. He gently swirled the wine glass and glanced at her like a Casanova watching. a sideshow.
Elizabeth noticed Randall staring at Nancy all this while and wondered what happened between them.
“Oliver and Milo are boyish and cute. Thank you so much for helping our little Lindsay.”
Milo replied in a childish voice, “You’re welcome. Mommy said that protecting girls is what boys should do.”
“Your mommy taught you well.” Elizabeth suddenly thought of something and said with interest, “You seem good at telling fortunes, little boy. Can you tell mine?”
“Sure.”
Milo walked up to Elizabeth and said, “Granny, what do you want to know?”
“The Reeves family has only one descendant in the last few generations. I want to know if we’ll have offspring in the future.”
Chapter 38
Milo studied Elizabeth’s palm intensely and said, “Granny, although the Mount of Venus on your palm is average, the patterns show signs of continuing growth. Moreover, your pinky’s base is high. It means that although you have few children and grandchildren, your great–grandchildren will thrive.”
Randall sneered, thinking the little mischief–maker pretended to know it all but was, in fact, pulling Elizabeth’s leg.
“Why did that woman teach the boy to cheat?” he thought.
Elizabeth was overjoyed to learn her grandson, Randall, would carry on the family line.
She would have to work harder on him and quickly find him a wife.
“Dr. Nancy, my family can’t repay you enough for treating me. How about asking my eldest grandson to devote his life to you?” Elizabeth did not mince her words.
Randall almost dropped his wine glass. He had been playing the bystander and did not expect to become the target.
The more Elizabeth looked at Nancy, the fonder she was of the latter, especially when she saw Lindsay sitting close to Nancy at the table. The elderly woman wanted Nancy to be her granddaughter–in–law eagerly, fearing someone might snatch her away if she did not act fast.
Christine stiffened, wondering if it was the Reeves family’s tradition to pay off its debt with its heir.
“Grandma, she’s scraggy and ugly! Who in his right mind will marry her?” Randall scoffed.
“Who in his right mind? I think your mind is not only twisted, you have acute cerebral thrombosis in your head!” Christine thought.
“Why are you so shallow, Randall? Beauty is only skin deep. I think Nancy is beautiful!”
“Yes, Mo–ul, the lady is beautiful indeed.”
Milo was so angry that he almost let slip again. He did another quick save before the damage was done.
Lindsay quickly raised her little board.
“She’s beautiful! Daddy is the ugly one!”
Randall could not believe Linsay called him ugly. Only his little princess dared to say that to his handsome face.
It was his fault for spoiling her rotten.
Randall’s face darkened as he stared at Christine, thinking she had led his daughter astray.
Daisy Reeves could not hold her tongue anymore. She thought Nancy was a decent young woman, better than those who schemed for a living.
“Randall, look how much Lindsay likes Dr. Nancy! She has never been so close to anyone since she was young. Dr. Nancy is the most suitable mother for Lindsay.” Daisy said and turned to Linsay, “Would you like Dr. Nancy to be your mother?”
Randall did not expect his mother to join forces with his grandmother. His mother was a very picky woman.
He could not believe Christine had doped everyone present into liking her.
Christine was equally stunned, knowing it was difficult for Randall Reeves to make a move.
He did not want to take a chance to go against Elizabeth and Daisy Reeves. But Christine was no recycling center either.
She did not want to be put on the spot.
Lindsay happily raised her little board when she heard her grandmother.
“Lindsay wants Momuny!”
Oliver and Milo could no longer sit still, sensing they wanted to snatch their mother away.
Randall said in a gurgling voice, “Everyone in Archiland knows that I’ll give my daughter anything she wants. I’ll reluctantly marry you since she likes you to be her stepmother.”
The corners of Christine’s mouth twitched. “Mr. Reeves, didn’t you say no one in his right mind will marry me? Is your mind as twisted as I think?”
Christine had known Randall for many years; it was the first time the latter let slip his words.
Elizabeth said excitedly. “Dr. Nancy, I’m sorry. He behaved like an insensible brat just now. I apologize on his behalf.”
Randall’s eyes were deep, like an abyss. “Name a price for the matrimony. 20 or 200 million dollars?”
The mention of money took Christine aback.
Milo would have stood on the table to protest if he was not afraid of making his mother angry.
How dare you steal Mommy in broad daylight! Is the Reeves family in human trafficking?

However, Oliver pulled him back.
The little boy’s face darkened, saying coldly, “I’m afraid 200 million dollars is not enough.”
