Chapter 19
Christine’s eyes were cold as she listened to the female medical staff in the hospital criticizing her.
It was true that wherever there were people, there would inevitably be a world of intrigue.
However, she had no intention of taking these criticisms to heart. After all, it was just an insignificant matter for her.
Although Christine did not intend to argue, those people did not let her go.
Just as Christine walked straight ahead, a woman with short hair and a white coat stopped her and said arrogantly, “Hey, newcomer! Isn’t it impolite to pass by without greeting everyone?”
The woman who spoke was Chloe Schuman, the niece of the hospital director and an intern doctor in the neurology department.
Although she was only an intern doctor, she was dominating the hospital due to her status as the director’s niece.
Earlier, when she followed the attending doctor to examine Elizabeth, she was the one who choked Elizabeth’s nose until she sneezed.
She had already been thrown out. Now, seeing Christine gain favor from the Reeves family, she couldn’t help but feel
envious.
“Would you guys welcome me if I greeted you? It’s obvious that you wouldn’t welcorne me.”
Christine knew they were deliberately trying to make things difficult for her, and she didn’t want to comply with their wishes.
Chloe was somewhat dazed. Indeed, even if she greeted them, they would just pretend not to see her.
They wanted to embarrass her.
“It’s our problem whether we will welcome your greet or not. The key question is, where is your courtesy?”
Chloe persisted in targeting Christine, refusing to let her go. It was evident to Christine that Chloe was determined to make things difficult for her.
“You talk to me about courtesy? It seems you are not yet qualified.”
Christine was now so far up the medical ladder that Chloe couldn’t stand her manners.
Christine’s gaze drifted to the work badge on Chloe’s chest, identifying her as a neurology intern.
For an intern doctor to be so arrogant like this, there was likely someone backing her up.
However, regardless of whoever was backing her, Christine didn’t let it bother her.
Chloe noticed that Christine’s gaze was fixed on her work badge. She perceived it as a form of disrespect to her status as an
intern doctor.
After all, no one at Healthstone Hospital had dared to embarrass her yet.
Chloe angrily exclaimed, “Hey, newcomer! You’re way too arrogant. Even though I’m an intern doctor, my uncle is the hospital director, my own blood relative. How dare you provoke my anger? Let me tell you, I’ll have my uncle kick you out of this hospital right now.”
“I can tell that the hospital director is your own uncle,” Christine replied indifferently. After all, it was pretty audacious for an intern doctor to act so arrogantly, but now it made sense since she had the hospital director as her powerful relative supporting her.
Chloe believed that by saying this, Christine would be scared or at least intimidated, then quickly changed her demeanor and begged for mercy.
After all, she had tried this trick repeatedly before.
“If you beg for mercy from me now, I won’t forgive you either. I will definitely have my uncle drive you away. You’re scared, right? After all, Healthstone Hospital is the best hospital in Archiland. The treatment and benefits are incomparable to other hospitals. Where can you find such good treatment if you’re kicked out?”
Chloe smirked as she threatened Christine. Meanwhile, the female medical staff behind Chloe also spoke out.
“Of all the people, the newcomer had to provoke Dr. Schuman. It just so happens that Dr. Schuman is none other than the
niece of Director Schuman.”
Just a moment ago, she was so arrogant. Now, it would be satisfying to see her kneel and beg for mercy.”
Christine stared coldly and adjusted her big black–rimmed glasses, which she was not accustomed to wearing.
However, it didn’t hinder her from dealing with the scum.

“It’s true, there is fear, but Director Schuman is the one who should be afraid,” Christine replied calmly. “If I were to leave now, there would be no one in Healthstone Hospital capable of treating Mrs. Reeves Director Schuman will no longer hold his position if the Reeves family becomes angry. At that point, being his niece or even his daughter won’t be of any use.”
Christine’s words hit Chloe hard, causing her face to turn dark and stern. A lump of frustration lodged in her chest, making her extremely uncomfortable.
“You’re so confident that you can cure Mrs. Reeves when even the professors in Healthstone Hospital can’t cure her. Ha, I think you’re just talking big
Christine remained silent but instead showed a contemptuous smile.
These people were genuinely ignorant. Didn’t they do their research before causing trouble for others?
She was known as the “Hand of God” in the field of neurology. If she couldn’t cure Elizabeth’s illness, could those who were only good at being jealous do any better?
Christine couldn’t help but find it amusing and remained silent. However, her lack of response made Chloe perceive her as guilty, further emboldening her to humiliate Christine shamelessly.
“Can’t find any words to say, huh? Haha, don’t think that getting a little attention from the Reeves family’s little princess. makes you soar high like a phoenix. Take a good look in the mirror at your ugly appearance. Mr. Reeves would never be interested in someone like you”
“Oh my goodness, what era is this? Who still has that news anchor hairstyle? Even my grandmother has moved on from that hairstyle!”
“Truly outdated and so uncultured. Look at that face, all dull and rustic like a country bumpkin.”
Christine looked coldly and said while sweeping away the people who made fun of her.
“Ignorance truly knows no bounds. Shouldn’t one have either a pretty face or a functioning brain? Yet, the two of you seem to have neither.”
Upon hearing this, Chloe flew into a rage and exclaimed, “How dare you insult me! See how I teach you a lesson!”
As Chloe reached out to hit Christine, someone suddenly grabbed her hand, preventing her from doing so.
Just as Chloe was about to curse, she looked up and realized that the person who had grabbed her hand was Duncan Foster.
“Mr. Foster.”
Chloe couldn’t believe the person holding her hand was Mr. Foster.
Her voice trembled with shock, but it also carried a hint of ambiguity. Her eyes burst with intense affection.
Before Elizabeth was hospitalized and Mr. Reeves arrived at the hospital, Duncan was the dream lover of all female medical staff in Healthstone Hospital, including Chloe.
As Christine looked at Duncan, who stood up for her, her gaze tightened. How could he be here?
As she looked at him in his clean and clear white coat, like a spring breeze and the twilight of the morning sun, he appeared just as she remembered him. However, there seemed to be a touch of melancholy between his brows.
“Do you even know who she is? How dare you hit her!”
Duncan furrowed his brows tightly and pushed Chloe away hard.
Chloe held her hand, which was sore from Duncan’s grip. In just a short moment, her hand had turned red, indicating Duncan’s anger.
Duncan, who was always composed and gentle, had never been seen getting angry before. However, now he was angry because of a newcomer who was considered unattractive.
Chloe truly couldn’t understand.
“I apologize, Mr. Foster. It’s just that this newcomer is too arrogant. As her colleagues, we warmly welcomed her, but she told us to get lost. This woman is simply so rude.”
“Did you just call that a warm welcome? Your way of welcoming people is quite unique.”
Duncan’s voice was deep and accusatory.
Chloe was filled with disbelief. How could this woman, who looked like a country bumpkin, have gained the favor of Mr. Foster? Now, he was even standing up for her.
Duncan was indeed a doctor at Healthstone Hospital, but his identity as the heir of Foster Group was even more prominent. Therefore, people referred to him as “Mr. Foster” rather than “Dr. Foster.”
