Chapter TWENTYFIVE-SURPRISE MATE
Roger POV
My family and I had been living in the Blue Eclipse pack for four months, which was glorious. After Ace took over as Alpha from his Father, he gave the warriors from Lotus Shadow guard duty and training positions within the pack. He gave me a few training classes to teach. Alpha Ace found a more valuable means for my needs since I was born to be a Beta and couldn't take over my title because of the issue with Blake and Silas.
During the day, I would teach three classes on fighting techniques and strategies, and I would patrol at night to keep my mind occupied since getting laid now was complicated due to Rocky's constant whining and wanting his mate. He made it hard for me to bring unmated she-wolves back to my cottage. I scoff just thinking about it while on patrol with Solan, Jacob, and Zack.
We had the west side patrol, and these guys were cool to hang with. Sometimes, we would camp out this way until morning when the shift changed. We would always run the border by two so it would be easier to cover more ground in case one of us missed something on the run. I was patrolling with Zack, as he is the youngest of the three of us, and I decided to teach him a few things.
Being 18 and already in training to be a warrior, he was a fast learner. I was running the border with Zack right behind me when I heard a car stop near the border and movement.
"Zack, do you hear that?" I asked in the link when his wolf, Zeeb, lifted his head and nodded.
Rocky lifted his head and smelled at least four people leaving the SUV. One scent was strikingly intoxicating as Rocky let out a low growl and a whimper.
"What's up, Rocky?" I asked.
"I think I smell our mate," my eyes widened. Rocky sniffed the air again, confirming his theory.
"What should we do, Roger?" Zack asked in the link. Hearing his voice brought Rocky out of his lustful haze.
"Link the others."
"We need to investigate," I told him.
Zack quickly sent a link to the others as Rocky walked further toward the unknown scents. The crazy thing was they didn't smell like rogues but pack wolves. As Rocky approached, we saw the silhouette of three people trying to carry what looked like a fourth. Rocky growled to get their attention. We saw them stiffen as Zeeb and the others surrounded them.
We all shifted back and put on shorts as we approached the group. The scent of mango and pineapple hit me full force as Rocky howled.
"Mate," my eyes widened in shock as Rocky kept chanting, and I walked toward the group.
"Who are you? And why are you on our pack lands?" I asked the group as I carefully watched them for any sudden moves.
It was dark out, but the lighting from the moon and our night vision made it easy for us to see the group of four as a guy stepped forward.
"We mean no harm," he said with his hands raised.
"My name is Beta Jason from the Red River pack," he said as the guys growled, and I held my hand up to stop them.
"This is my mate Freya and her sisters, Yvette and Faye," he said, my eyes locked with a young girl around 18 with dirty blonde hair and gray eyes. She was about 5'5 and beautiful.
"Mate," she called out as Rocky howled delightfully. I heard a gasp from the guys as the girl named Faye stepped forward.
"Before you make your decision, just know my Father is Alpha Simon of the Stone Valley pack," she said, tears starting to glisten in her eyes.
"I understand if you..." before she could finish, Rocky pushed forward and let out a vicious growl.
"Mine!" he hugged her and put our nose on her neck, sniffing her scent.
"You're ours, little mate. I don't care who your Father is," I said.
I heard a sniffle and put her arms around my neck. I watched the Beta clear his throat as Faye and I released each other. Rocky was pissed we were being interrupted, but the Beta had the look of telling us something of importance. So Rocky put his possessiveness aside, and I gave the Beta my full attention.
"Yvette has been in a coma since Silas used the bond to hurt her."
"Her wolf is weak, and our doctors won't treat her because Silas wants her to suffer."
"He sleeps with the unmated she-wolves to prolong her suffering and keep her weak. Her sisters and I felt it was best that she is far away from him to give her wolf a chance to heal," I heard growls and sobs as Jason talked.
"I would give the okay to let you pass, but that decision has to be made by my Alpha. "
"Let me get him here for you, and you can explain the situation," I said.
Jason nodded with understanding as I turned to Solan, and he got the silent message: I was of Beta blood, so I outranked the group.
"You may call me Roger."
"I'm of Beta rank, and I come from the Lotus Shadow pack," I told the group as they nodded. My mate held me close.
Faye POV
Seeing Yvette suffering at the hands of her mate made my blood boil. My wolf Feronia wanted to rip his throat out. Freya, me, and her mate Beta Jason agreed that enough was enough. We decided that taking Yvette out of Silas’s pack and giving her wolf a chance to heal her was the best thing.
Hence, the decision was to take her to the Blue Eclipse pack. I had heard stories about the powerful white wolf and all her abilities. My Father was obsessed with the white wolf legend and wanted the power. He didn't love our Mother. She was just a pawn. He treated her like a breeding mare. But when Mom had all daughters, Dad completely lost his mind. He started cheating with the omega she-wolves and unmated ones.
I couldn't wait to leave Stone Valley. He wanted to marry me off to some creepy vampire lord just for an alliance and wanted Freya to do the same. But when Yvette and Freya found their mates, he relented since Silas was an Alpha and Jason was a Beta.
I knew then the schemes he had in mind for me now that my sisters were mated. I immediately asked for the chance to find my mate. He was hesitant at first but relented and said if I didn't find my mate in a month, he would marry me off to the vampire lord Ozul and create an alliance.
I shivered in fear, just thinking about my situation. Jason's words that we were five minutes from the Blue Eclipse pack brought me out of my thoughts.
Jason had parked the SUV outside the pack's border area, and we quickly exited the vehicle. Jason helped us get Yvette out and carry her over the border, hoping the Blue Eclipse Alpha would seek a counsel so Jason could explain things. My wolf, Feronia, started whimpering as I smelled the faint scent of black pepper with a hint of tangerine.
"Oh, goddess," I thought.
"Feronia, what is that intoxicating scent?" I asked my wolf as she panted and whimpered.
"Mate! Mate is near," she howled and rolled onto her back.
"Silly wolf," I said.
As Jason and Freya carried Yvette, I walked behind them. We walked about ten feet before the scent got closer, and Feronia went crazy with the howling and whimpering. We all heard a growl and froze in our spot as an ash-gray wolf with three white socks stepped out of the shadows and faced us with three other wolves flanking us.
Rocky
"Mate!" Feronia said.
The wolf was beautiful as his fur glimmered under the moonlight. I peeked from behind Jason and Freya to see him tilt his head and sniff the air. I knew then that he had caught my scent, which had made him crazy with lust. He shifted back to his human form and put on shorts, and the others followed suit.
"Who are you? And why are you on our pack lands?" he asked, and judging by the aura he put off, he was a ranked wolf, either a Beta or a Gamma.
Jason had stepped closer with his hands raised and explained why we were there and who he was. I looked closer at the man the goddess chose as my fated mate. He was gorgeous, about 6'2, with short jet-black hair, amber-colored eyes, bronze skin, and solid muscles everywhere. He was pure perfection, and Feronia purred delightfully.
He looked at me with lust-filled eyes. I sighed with nervousness because I knew I needed to explain who I was before he decided to want me as a mate. So, I gathered the courage and started explaining who I was and my Father. Before I could finish, I heard a growl and saw that his wolf had pushed forward.
"Mine!" he said as he hugged me and put his nose on my neck.
"You're ours, little mate. I don't care who your Father is," he said as I sighed with relief, wrapped my arms around his neck, and cried.
I heard Jason clear his throat, and my mate pulled away from me, making Feronia whimper from the loss of contact. Jason started explaining Yvette's condition and why she wasn't healing, and then came the part about Silas's unforgivable mistreatment of her, which made everyone growl, including me.
"I would give the okay to let you pass, but that decision has to be made by my Alpha."
"Let me get him here for you, and you can explain the situation," my mate said as Jason nodded.
"You may call me Roger."
"I'm of Beta rank, and I come from the Lotus Shadow pack," Roger said.
It was then that everything clicked. It was no wonder why Blake and Silas wanted to attack this pack and why Silas was obsessed with Blake's daughter. She was mated to the Alpha of this pack.
Jason POV
After Roger had one of the warriors send the mind link, we all waited with bated breath. This was a new level beyond obsession. I knew Blake was devious, but seeing the extent Silas would go through to get Rachel back in his clutches had my blood boiling.
He hurt his mate in the worst way possible. It wasn't until I heard her screams that night that I knew something was wrong. Freya was right behind me when we broke Silas's bedroom door down, and she saw her sister lying on the floor with foam coming out of her mouth.
Silas had no shame, and the she-wolf he was banging earlier showed no emotions for her, Luna. I knew then enough was enough, and Silas needed to be stopped. He wasn't fit to be an Alpha.
My wolf Jai and I agreed to do everything possible to end Silas and Blake. After a few minutes of waiting, we all heard the thumping of paws as we saw the silhouette of at least four wolves approaching us. I felt the most immense aura as a massive white wolf stopped about five feet away.
I also saw silver, dark gray, and copper-colored wolves fall in behind their Alpha. I watched everyone shift to their human form and put on shorts. The Alpha was a huge guy. He was at least 6'6 and had solid muscle. Jai whimpered in my head, and I felt the need to bow.
"Alpha," I greeted him as he nodded.
"My name is Beta Jason from Red River, and this is my mate Freya and her two sisters, Faye and Yvette," I said.
I watched his eyes flicker from greenish blue to black. When I mentioned the Red River pack, I knew he was fighting with his wolf.
"I've come to seek your counsel and to tell you about Silas and Blake's latest plans."
"Which I'm sure you already know about since Alpha Patrick is my cousin," I confessed. I watched his eyes widen in shock as a guy of about 6'4 with short, curly brown hair stepped forward.
"You're the spy in the Red River pack?" he asked as I nodded.
"Our Gamma Tony is another, but he stayed behind to keep Silas occupied while we escaped, bringing Yvette here to seek help," I said.
I watched as everyone eyed the woman in Freya's arms and heard growls from the ranked members.
"I saw what he did to her," the Alpha mentioned as I stared at him with a shocked expression. Freya and Faye gasped.
"How is that possible?" I asked.
"I'm a white wolf."
"So, if you have heard the stories about the White Wolf pack."
"I can speak freely and say all the rumors or gossip are true. My white wolf heritage and my Mother's are true."
"We are the last remaining descendants, besides my pups," he said, and my eyes widened when he mentioned his pups. That meant Rachel was carrying the future Alphas of the Blue Eclipse pack.
"Beta Jason, I will allow your counsel and give you sanctuary in my pack."
"Bring Yvette to the pack hospital while I link my Mother. She is the healer in the family," the Alpha said.
I nodded as he led the way, and I helped Freya carry her sister. We walked for about twenty minutes before a massive eight-story castle appeared, and my jaw dropped. I heard a gasp from Freya and Faye as we approached.
We all walked up the stone steps and admired the castle's beautiful craftsmanship. The Alpha then led us inside and toward an elevator. He pushed a button for the fifth floor as the elevator began to ascend.
"How is she?" the Alpha asked about Yvette.
"Same as always."
"Her wolf is dormant and afraid to heal her because of what Silas might do, but we all hoped her being here would help her wolf come out," I said.
He nodded in understanding as the elevator stopped, and we all exited as a man in dark green scrubs and a white lab coat awaited us.
"Alpha," he bowed and looked at Yvette in my arms.
"Oh, dear goddess, who did this?"
"This poor child," he said with sympathy.
"Bring her in," he said as a nurse brought out a stretcher, and I placed Yvette on the bed.
I heard a ding as the elevator doors slid open and saw a man and woman exit. The older gentleman resembled the Alpha in many ways except for the hair. The lady at his side had long, curly blonde hair and crystal blue eyes.
"Mom, Dad."
"Thank you for coming," the Alpha said as he greeted his parents.
"These are my parents, the former Alpha and Luna," he said as we bowed respectfully.
"Holy shit! Their auras were quite intimidating," I thought as Jai whimpered.
"Was that the young lady who is mated to Silas?" I heard the former Luna ask, and the Alpha nodded.
"Take me to her," she said as her son led the way, and we all followed.
"Beta Jason, you may call me Ace."
"This is my Beta Carlito and my Gamma Julio."
"The other wolf you saw was my Delta Hunter," Ace said. I nodded and followed him to where the doctor took Yvette.
After walking for about five minutes, we came to a door in the back, and the Alpha knocked. One of the nurses opened the door and bowed.
"Alpha," she said and stepped aside to let us inside. The room was massive enough to hold at least fifteen people.
"How is she, Dr. Thielen?" the former Luna asked.
I watched the doctor sigh and shake his head. I heard sobs and looked over to see Freya and Faye holding each other as they cried for their sister.
"Her mate did this to her, and he is a monster," I said as everyone looked at me. I went over to comfort my mate as Roger did the same with Faye.
"Maybe I can help," I heard the former Luna say.
"You can give it a try, Staci," the doctor said and stepped aside. Staci stepped toward Yvette's bed.
We all stood before Yvette's bed and watched as Staci grabbed Yvette's hand and put her free hand on her forehead. Her eyes glowed a misty white color as we all gasped. I saw Yvette's eyelids rush, and she convulsed violently as the heart monitor quickly beeped.
"What's going on?" Freya asked, and Alpha Ace put his finger to his lips.
After a few minutes, the heart monitor began to slow to a steady beat, and Yvette stopped convulsing. Staci's eyes returned to normal, and she smiled.
"She's fine and just needs to rest now," she said.
"What did you do?" Faye asked.
"I healed her wolf and gave her strength."
"Finding her took me a while, but I convinced her she was safe and didn't need to hide anymore," Staci said with a smile.
"Thank you, Luna," the girls said and bowed.
"No need to thank me, girls," Staci stepped forward, hugged the girls, and rubbed their backs gently as they sobbed.
"You all should get some rest and come back tomorrow."
"She should be awake by then," Staci told the girls as they nodded. Staci and her mate exited the room.
Alpha Ace allowed us to stay at Roger's cottage and rest for a while. I was exhausted when my head hit the pillow, and I closed my eyes to sleep peacefully for once.
