The Rebellious Omega

Chapter 159

Blair

POV

I watched the door shut behind me with the sound of finality and heaved a big sigh. That argument had sounded too real, and I felt sickened to my stomach at the words that had come flying from my mouth. I moved to stand at the window, peering blankly out towards the grounds, frowning when I saw that Sierra peered up at me, a look of concern on her face. The argument was already being gossiped about, Sierra mind-linking me to make sure I was okay. That argument sounded like a doozy, is everything alright between the two of you?

We're having a rough patch I hedged, aware of my promise not to let anything slip, not even to Sierra are you still following Stella?

Yeah, but she hasn't done anything out of the ordinary. She goes from the pack house to Josie's and unless I barge in on them, I can't overhear their conversations. They act like actual cousins, but Josie seems to dislike her immensely which makes me wonder if she actually invited this woman to the pack or not.

Who else would have invited her? I mean, that sounds strange. Have you managed to get Josie alone to ask her? Stella's always there when I try and Josie has a block up that prevents me from mind-linking her. She's hiding something, but I'm not sure it's what we think it is. I'll stay on top of her. Stella's in the pack house in the dining room at the moment, so I thought I might try and get ahold of Josie before she heads out.

Go, but be careful I warned her.

Sierra laughed Josie wouldn't hurt a fly, but I appreciate your concern.

We cut the mind-link off and I stayed by the window, watching Sierra head off towards the outskirts of the pack. It wasn't long until I spotted Stella making her way out of the pack house as well. Some concerned omegas mind-linked me about Braedon becoming drunk and I feigned being dismissive, assuring them that he could do as he damn well pleased, continuing to put up the guise that we were angry with each other. I saw him stagger onto the grounds and quickly got changed, heading downstairs to find that the dining room was remarkably empty.

"Good morning Luna" one omega stammered, bowing her head and blushing.

I gave her a kind smile, but all of the omegas looked fearful. The argument had caused discontentment and fear among them all. Sarah came walking into the dining room and quickly joined me as I motioned for the omegas to grab me some food. She ducked her head close to me.

"James is following him" she muttered "but I thought I'd better come back and make a show of giving you support."

I exhaled, pausing to give the omega a grateful smile as she placed a plate of food in front of me. "Did anybody follow him?"

Sarah paused and shook her head "No, your mate was alone when James last saw him" she whispered.

Damn. Maybe this plan wasn't going to work as effectively as we had all hoped, or maybe it would take several days. The notion didn't sit well with me. I raised an eyebrow and began to munch on the toast, my stomach churning at the thought of eating anything else. I glanced around the dining room and noted with some surprise that I had yet to lay eyes on Julia. Strange, but not uncommon.

"Where's Julia?" I asked Sarah who looked a bit taken aback.

"I'm not sure," she said slowly "I mean, I saw her this morning, but since then" she shrugged looking hopeless "Want me to mind-link her?" she asked.

Julia was probably off doing some work or busy hassling the omegas upstairs about the housekeeping I thought with some amusement. I shook my head "No, you know Julia, she's probably checking on the state of the pack house, or doing some important paperwork in her room" I said calmly "She's the least of our worries" I added.

The woman was as efficient and obsessive-compulsive as they came. Sarah settled back in her seat.

"So what are your plans?" Sarah enquired loudly, patting me sympathetically on the shoulder.

"If I wasn't pregnant I would say get drunk," I said wryly "But I see my mate has already gone down that route" I added a bit spitefully, making some of the omegas gasp "So I suppose that I will just relax in my room until he comes to his bloody senses." "Do you think that's wise?" Sarah asked in a hushed voice "What if the person responsible chooses to come after you?"

I gave her a wink "Then they'll get a fight, but I daresay that it would be against their nature to confront me head-on. I hate all this waiting and subterfuge" I complained under my breath "All I can think about is Braedon and wondering if he's okay." Sarah snorted "Please, the man's in his element. If anything I hope he has a sore head after consuming that much alcohol. It would be the least he deserves," she said loyally and with a giggle "Besides he happens to enjoy acting."

I laughed, rising to my feet. Sarah sighed "Isn't it funny, even though I was just with him, I already miss James," she said drily.

I giggled "I still find it hilarious considering just how much you two butted heads in the beginning and now you can't keep your hands off each other" I teased as Sarah blushed bright red, "Something tells me there's going to be another pregnancy announcement soon at the rate you two are going at it."

She gasped "Blair, don't tell me you can hear..." she floundered.

"No, but anyone can tell looking at you two that you've been doing it" I said bluntly as she gaped "and it would be fun for my pup to have a baby cousin to grow up with."

She spluttered as I giggled and began to head out. "You have a dirty mind Blair" she yelled out.

"I know" I called back smugly "It's one of my best attributes" I added, hearing her choke out a laugh from behind me.
