The Rebellious Omega

Chapter 151

Blair

POV

I was being driven slowly insane. Braedon was being overly solicitous as he paid attention to my every need while I recovered in bed, but I was restless, wanting nothing more than to be freed of the confines of the room, my wolf aching to go for a run and feel the ground beneath its paws. Braedon was furious as the interrogation of everybody at the summit proved to be unsuccessful, with nobody possessing any knowledge of what had happened to me, or having seen anybody approaching my drink. He even used his Alpha tone to demand answers but it was of no use. I bit my lip, feeling certain that Brynn had something to do with it, even as Braedon argued that she and her mate had already left the compound before I had been poisoned.

"Braedon, I'm bored, please, the doctor said bed rest, but it's been long enough" I argued, as he tried to push me back down again "I can't stay in this room forever."

"You were lucky to survive the poisoning and our pup as well" he growled, his eyes flashing as a stubborn expression came over his face "Why can't you just relax for some time?"

I gave a laugh "Because there is only so much a person can rest" I told him arching my brows as he gritted his teeth "Besides, I miss Sierra and Josie" I pouted with a quivering lip.

He sighed. Something was niggling in the back of my mind. Something that seemed important but no matter how hard I tried, I couldn't seem remember what it might be. I exhaled, feeling exasperated.

"Did I hear my name?" Sierra asked teasingly from the doorway "Let me guess, she's being a stubborn pain in the a*s King Braedon" she joked, looking amused.

Braedon let out a low growl "You have no idea" he muttered as I shot an indignant look at him "She's all yours Sierra, don't let her overdo it, and don't forget there are two guards trailing you at all times. Buster and Braxton will remain in the shadows today, but any sign that something is wrong and they won't hesitate to put themselves in front of you" he warned

me.

"Fine" I grumbled moodily, swinging my legs out and hopping out of bed, feeling slightly victorious as Braedon rolled his eyes and looked heavenward, looking like he was trying to gather up all his patience. There was a tentative knock on the door by James and Sarah, who looked amused as they held onto each other tightly. "Ah James, Sarah" I greeted them as Sierra giggled in the corner "Please, take him away," I said dramatically, gesturing to Braedon with a flourish.

Sarah laughed "It's amusing to see how much love you exhibit towards each other," she said drily, while her mate stared down at her lovingly, oblivious to everyone around them. It was cute.

"James, tell me you have some information about the person who poisoned Blair or the trafficking," Braedon said, growling lowly under his breath.

James shot a look towards me that was almost indecipherable. "Actually there is something that I need to discuss with you King Braedon, but I'm afraid that it doesn't have to do with that, but rather a different task that you had me look into," he said delicately as I frowned, wondering what he wasn't saying.

Braedon frowned. He moved towards me and kissed me on the cheek. "Try not to get in trouble," he said with resignation as I beamed at him.

He shot a warning look at Sierra who was batting her eyelashes and feigning innocence at him "You too" he mumbled with a scathing look before turning and following Sarah and James out the door.

"What do you think that's about?" I asked Sierra confused "And why wouldn't

James just say what the news was?" I added perplexed.

It wasn't often that I was left out of the loop and it rankled. I would press Braedon about it later.

She shrugged nonchalantly, watching as I began to strip out of my pajamas and into a casual dress. Julia had managed to influence me into dressing a bit more formally around the castle, much to my chagrin. I wanted to make Braedon more proud of me than have him embarrassed about my appearance and to be honest, I wasn't sure why I had been fighting Julia so much when it came to changing how I looked. Perhaps I had been fearful of losing who I was, of becoming a mold into what they wanted, but I had my own style and it continued to show through the clothes I chose and the colors and patterns they contained. Julia seemed to know exactly what I liked and had chosen clothes that complimented my style, rather than changing me into something I had no desire to be. I owed her a great debt of gratitude. I had underestimated the woman and I cringed to think how I had embarrassed her at the beginning, when I had first gotten to this pack. She seemed like a nice woman and we had reached a truce of sorts now.

"Who knows" Sierra commented, sounding disinterested "It's probably nothing" she added with a shrug.

I glanced at her and frowned "Where's Josie? I've hardly seen her the last few days" I added worried.

Sierra snorted. "That's because she has a visitor. Apparently, it's a cousin of hers, so she's been pretty busy with her. I didn't even know she had any family" she added "might want to keep a close eye on her, her name is Stella and she has her eye on your mate" she added disgustingly "Not that Braedon has noticed. I swear the man is oblivious when it comes to other women that aren't you" she added sounding a little envious.

Was that the strange woman I had walked in on before? I felt a stirring inside of me, a sense of disquiet that came not just from myself, but from Dusk as well. I trusted my wolf's instincts, more than my own and she disliked Stella to the point it was almost bordering on pure hatred. Interesting and a little unnerving if I was to be honest.
