The Rebellious Omega

Chapter 149

Third Person POV

Brynn was seething as she and Ashton were forced to leave the summit, her mouth downturned into a mutinous frown. "Can you believe the audacity of that little b***h" she hissed at Ashton as they began to make their way back towards their cars "ordering us to leave as though she's better than us instead of the weak pathetic mutt she's always been" she snarled.

Ashton remained silent, aware of Brynn's growing anger and a little perplexed at the strength and the power of Blair's aura that he had felt. Blair had a wolf now and it was quite obvious to him that she possessed an Alpha wolf. But Brynn had yet to come to the same conclusion that he had or she was ignoring it in the face of her rage.

"Perhaps we shouldn't have confronted her," Ashton said and then wisely went silent as Brynn turned furious eyes on him. "Ashton, don't forget that you are meant to be my mate," she said warningly, causing Ashton to nod tiredly.

"Look, we got the information we came for, didn't we" Ashton pointed out, "nobody seems to be any the wiser about which pack is trafficking the omegas and rogues, so for now we're safe" he added, glancing over his shoulder to ensure that nobody was following them and that they were safely out of earshot. "That's all that matters."

Brynn smirked. "Do you think that I would have simply left it at that?" she asked cunningly.

Ashton frowned. "Brynn what have you done?" he asked.

Brynn giggled and flipped her hair over her hair and glanced down at her phone. "I've been in contact with a little friend of mine," she said nonchalantly "somebody that nobody would even think to look twice at. She's going to put that slut in her place and nobody's even going to look twice at us because we're going to be long gone by then."

"How did you manage to plant somebody into this pack?" Ashton asked in a low tone of voice, amazed at Brynn's subterfuge.

Brynn shrugged "Actually it wasn't that difficult. She's the daughter of one of my mother's friends and let's just say that we both have a bit of an understanding between us. She's none too pleased about Blair becoming the Luna Queen and well, if I can use that to my advantage, then I'm going too" she said with a cold smile.

"Your mother put you in touch with her, didn't she?" Ashton asked and Brynn just smiled, linking her arm with Ashtons and prancing towards their driver, who smoothly opened the door.

Luna Bianca sat there, smoothly drinking from a wine glass, a wicked grin on her face, even though she raked her gaze over her daughter with a hint of disapproval. "You couldn't help yourself could you?" she said frostily "You had to make trouble" she scoffed.

"She was asking for it" Brynn retorted, as Ashton helped her into the backseat, sitting gracefully and smoothing her dress out, Ashton sitting beside her "Besides, nobody knows anything about the trafficking," she told her mother smugly "We're in the clear."

Her mother rolled her eyes "I know" she said tartly, crossing her slim ankles and looking around her as the limousine began to take off "I managed to enter the marquee and leave just as subtly. You didn't even catch me in there, did you" she said triumphantly and Brynn shook her head, amazed at how stealthy her mother could be when the occasion called for it. "There is something that I find a little odd," Ashton said with a frown, turning to Luna Bianca questioningly.

She raised her glass, slowly taking a sip, looking completely at ease as they left the security of the pack and headed into the forest. "What would that be Ashton?" she asked calmly, observing the young man coolly.

She instinctively knew what he was going to bring up and braced herself for the inevitable question. "Well, Blair's wolf, it's an Alpha," Ashton said slowly and Brynn snorted.

"So what," she said dramatically "So's mine. What's so special about that?" she said scornfully.

Ashton looked at her in disbelief. Was Brynn really that obtuse or was she just naive? He cleared his throat while Bianca looked at her daughter indulgently. "Well, in order for Blair to have an Alpha wolf" he paused, trying to phrase this delicately "Wouldn't her parents or one of her parents need to have been an Alpha?" he asked.

Silence. From Brynn's stunned expression, he gathered she hadn't put the pieces together. Bianca tsked and shook her head, looking impressed by Ashton's intelligence. A shame her daughter didn't seem to be as bright as he was, but then, Brynn had her looks to fall back on, thought Bianca. "Not necessarily" Bianca objected and Ashton frowned at her "If you look closely, you can see that Blair has been marked by the Alpha King, which could possess the ability to change her wolf to that of an Alpha" she lied.

Would they buy it? Ashton appeared to be mulling it over, while Brynn just nodded, accepting her mother's words at face value.

"I guess that could happen," Ashton said slowly, the limousine continuing to go along at a steady pace "But I mean, isn't that a rare occurrence? I thought it was a myth" he added a little suspiciously. Bianca shrugged, putting the wine glass down. "Well it appears that there's some truth to the myth," she said sweetly "Or are you trying to hint at something else Ashton" she said a little frostily.

He gulped and turned his head away. It would not bode well for him if he angered Brynn's mother. His thoughts turned to poor Alpha Johnathon who was in the dungeon still along with Beta Cody. He swallowed hard and bit the inside of his lip. "No Luna Bianca" he answered, bowing his head respectfully "I trust your word," he said, lying between gritted teeth. Brynn and Bianca looked satisfied. "I have a new shipment of girls coming in in two weeks," Bianca said quietly "and the new cottages should be built just in time to house them. We're going to need to employ another doctor on staff as well" she added and Brynn looked a bit lost.
