The Prodigy Antaris - a secret World of magic #1

Chapter 29

Evelyn

Nephilim are descendants of a love affair between humans and angels. They are only born when Grace, the source of angelic power, is conceived appropriately. If an angel has a child with a human without consent, the result is a completely normal human being.

However, if there is consent, a Nephilim is born.

The Archangel Chamuel possesses strong energies and is known as the angel of love for others and oneself. Chamuel is also associated with strength and courage. As an archangel, he serves as a messenger between heaven and earth and is responsible for promoting love and harmony among people. He teaches tolerance, charity, and the importance of self-love, which precedes all other forms of love. Unfortunately, he never showed love for me, his daughter.

After I was born, my father left us, and I was left alone with my mother, unaware of my true nature. We lived a simple life in the mountains, far away from others. I only observed the human world from a distance and I did not particularly like it.

Love was not the driving force in people's lives back then; power and greed were.

When I turned seven years old, my wings finally sprouted for the first time, and it was then that my mother explained to me what I truly was. Perhaps this revelation would have come sooner if my father had been present, but I had to navigate this world alone.

I was born a long time ago, and after turning 25, I stopped aging. Forever young, immortal, and forever alone. I quickly learned that my identity could not be revealed to the human world. The unknown and different could provoke fear, putting my life in danger. After my mother passed away, I wandered, avoiding contact with any living beings for a long time.

Initially, I thought I was the only one of my kind, but as time passed, I met others like me. I traveled from country to country, eventually learning all the languages spoken on Earth. Through these journeys, I came across other half-angels, and they explained to me who I was and what I was capable of. As more and more Nephilim populated the Earth, the angels withdrew and banished us. This was also the reason why my father left us.

Angel swords were created to do good, but when it was discovered that Nephilim were vulnerable to them, they became our downfall. Technically, we can be killed by an angel sword since we are half-angels. The alternative would be to give up our immortality for love and live only until our soulmate dies.

I had heard of Nephilim willingly sacrificing their immortality for humans. They claimed that true love could be felt and that one's soulmate couldn't be killed, even with malicious intent. The protective instinct would drive us to do anything for our soulmate, even if it meant sacrificing our lives.

However, we were not the only beings living on Earth, and I soon realized the difference between good and evil after my first encounter with a demon. It was the first of many battles. I discovered that demons were no match for us Nephilim. We possessed such strength that it took even several angels to overpower a single one of us.

It took a long time for me to fully understand and harness my powers, which led me to spend decades hiding my true identity. I concealed it not only from humans but also from the dark world.

After the extermination of the Nephilim began, I sought refuge in the most remote locations on Earth. As the last of my kind, I possessed a sword that could destroy all good things, and I lived in fear.

For several years, I resided in a secluded area deep within the Canadian forest. I enjoyed the peace and solitude, far away from human presence. Unlike other creatures, animals were never afraid of me, so I peacefully lived surrounded by lovely wildlife. I didn't require much to survive as I could consume human food, although it wasn't necessary.

However, my tranquility was disrupted when I sensed the presence of others in the forest. Three beings, one of whom I was certain was a demon. I could perceive the true form of angels and sense the presence of good or evil within all. But in this instance, I was confused. The young woman and man did not appear to be human, and even the demon emitted no sense of evil. I observed them for a while and, through their conversations, discovered that they were indeed not evil. I had encountered a few creatures besides demons—gnomes, dwarves, and even a fairy but these beings were completely foreign to me.

I watched them work together to build a house and chuckled at their amusing nature. The demon demonstrated impressive skill and proficiency in manual labor. I also sensed that he was older than the other two beings. However, he seemed to sense that he was being watched and frequently glanced towards the forest with his dark eyes. I observed him coming and going, and over time, I realized that there were likely more of them. My suspicions were confirmed when I overheard a conversation that revealed they hailed from another realm.

The presence of additional demons signaled to me that they were searching for the sword, which left me with no choice but to seek help. I watched the demon set up traps to protect his friends, finding amusement in his actions while appreciating his desire to keep them safe. "If any of Abbadon's demons appear here, they will be destroyed. Stay in the house and wait for me. It is too dangerous to accompany me now. I will return. Avery will know what to do," he stated before vanishing.

I approached their house and knocked on the door, effortlessly gaining entry. However, my intention was not to startle them. For a long time, I had managed on my own, but being the last of my kind compelled me to seek assistance.

When the young man opened the door, armed and ready, I observed a green glow in his eyes. I knew his strength alone would not be enough to defeat me, but I had no intention of engaging in a fight. The young woman standing behind him emitted a yellow glow and stared at me in disbelief.

"Noah, no!" she exclaimed, bowing her head before me.

I sensed that she was inside my mind, peering into my thoughts and memories—an ability possessed by a witch.

I joined them inside the house, engaging in conversation. However, our peaceful gathering was abruptly interrupted when a group of individuals stormed into the home. Their power was formidable, matching the capabilities of the three strangers I had been observing for some time.

As I had closely watched them, it was not difficult for me to anticipate what the demon, who had prepared the traps, would ask. Confusion filled the room as he observed my every move. I felt his gaze upon me, analyzing my presence. The young woman, who introduced herself as Iris, possessed a kind and pure heart, much like the two other heartbeats I detected within her. After introducing ourselves and learning that King Avery and his future wife stood before me the rulers of a place where benevolent beings resided and were protected—I felt a sense of relief.

The demon's stare never wavered, capturing the attention of the others who turned to him with questioning expressions. He seemed to possess their trust, and they held him in high regard. I attempted to convey that I did not pose a threat to him, despite being a demon, and that I harbored no intentions of harming him.

It seemed that he was... good. However, as I rose from my seat, he drew his sword and pointed it at me. My initial reaction was to subdue him and prevent any further harm, but when I raised my hand, nothing happened. I realized I was powerless against him.

Feeling defenseless, I took a step back, a single feather falling from my hand. The demon's eyes widened as he comprehended my true nature. Although he used the drawn sword, its impact wounded my soul—not because of his actions, but due to the rejection I sensed. My ears began to ring, and I felt powerless against the man who muttered an apology before leaving the house.

As I explained my identity and shared information about the sword, my gaze remained fixated on the window, where I could still see Devas, as they called him. I had to take a risk and trust others for the first time ensuring the safety of the sword was paramount. These beings possessed goodness and purity and promised to offer me safety and assistance, which I accepted.

The young witch created a portal through which we were to travel to Antaris, their home. Everyone went through the portal except for me, the demon, and Jade. Fear of the unknown overwhelmed me, so I hesitated in front of the portal until Devas suddenly embraced me. Contact with me alone possessed the potential to destroy him, yet he seemed immune. The closeness we shared as we walked through the portal felt foreign yet highly anticipated. It had been a long time since I had been able to touch another being, especially a demon. His body appeared strong, and his face gently brushed against my cheek as he whispered, "Hold on tight to me."

My heart raced, not because of the portal, but because I had just encountered my soulmate.

And upon seeing the armed army before us, after Devas released me from his embrace, my first instinct was to protect him. My concern for his well-being was so overwhelming that I effortlessly incapacitated the entire army, revealing my true form.

As I beheld Antaris and Iris showed me around, I marveled at the vast array of different creatures calling this place home. Some of them I had only heard of in stories, while others were entirely unfamiliar. However, all of them exuded goodness and lacked any trace of evil. I was warmly greeted and welcomed with open arms and love. From everyone except Devas.

He held back and only followed me as I walked through Antaris. And after Iris excitedly went to tell her Avery about the babies, I heard Devas say, "We need to talk!"
