The Omnipotent Mrs. Ranford By Darlene Wright

Chapter 26

Chapter 26

“I am sorry.”

Alexandra thought she was hallucinating and could not help but furrow her brows.

Julian was not looking at Alexandra. He continued his disinfecting. “I had Marco check, so now I know everything that happened.”

Alexandra had not expected that Julian would go investigate the truth and specifically come to apologize to her.

a was in a daze. She did not know how she should react to this.

Alexandra had been yelling at Julian in her mind all day. She had even planned to ignore him that night and not say a single

word to the man.

But now Julian had suddenly apologized.

At that moment, Julian finished with the rubbing alcohol. The injury had to be air-dried now.

Julian lifted his head, meeting Alexandra’s confused yet bright eyes. “It was my mistake, Julian said. “I should not have scolded you without asking what happened. The daughter of the Connolly family was the original bully, while you were only helping your disadvantaged classmate. Alexandra, you did the right thing.”

Alexandra did not reply.

Julian continued to say, “If you run into something like this again, you can fight as hard as you want.” Sᴇaʀ*ᴄh the (ꜰind)ɴʘvel.nᴇt website on Gøøglᴇ to access chapters of novels early and in the highest quality.

Alexandra looked at Julian in disbelief.

That afternoon, Julian had reprimanded Alexandra for fighting with a classmate, but now he was encouraging Alexandra to fight.

“However…” Julian’s eyes fell upon Alexandra’s arm and gazed at the scratch. “When you fight in the future,” he said, “be careful and do not hurt yourself.”

With that, Julian lifted his head and looked at Alexandra.

Alexandra was dumbstruck.

She had made a single sound since Julian had apologized.

Alexandra stared up with wide eyes as if Julian was some scary monster.

Julian waited for a while.

Julian then heard Alexandra whisper, “Then… can you not dock my pay?”

Julian was speechless.

He had worried that Alexandra would be unhappy, so he lowered himself to apologize to her.

But after all that Julian had said, all Alexandra had on her mind was that bit of salary.

Julian felt unhappy for some odd reason.

In Alexandra’s eyes, Julian’s apology and concession were not as good as the salary for 10 days.

Julian did not want to respond to Alexandra.

Julian looked back at Alexandra’s arm. The rubbing alcohol had dried.

Julian picked up a bandage. He ripped it open and helped stick it onto Alexandra’s injury.

Julian had to apply three bandages before the injury on Alexandra’s arm was completely covered.

Julian stood up after treating the injury. His legs were a bit numb.

Alexandra also stood up from the sofa.

She touched the bandage on her right arm with her left hand while blinking up at Julian with anticipation.

“So about the salary…” Alexandra started again.

“I won’t dock it.” Julian was a bit annoyed.

When Alexandra heard those words, it was like she had won the lotto. A smile bloomed on her face. “Thank

After seeing Alexandra’s smile, Julian’s annoyed feelings were strangely relieved.

He felt the stress lift inside as well.

Of course, Alexandra was ecstatic now,

Eight thousand dollars had just whooshed back into her pocket.

you,

boss.”

It was strange though. Before this, Alexandra had lost her appetite for dinner because she had been so pissed at Julian. After this short while, Alexandra’s bad mood vanished completely.

The two of them gazed at each oly.

Alexandra smiled, white Julian looked at her smile.

“I should apologize too,” Alexandra said to Julian

impulsive. I have not even passed the test, but I already got into

conflicts with my classmates and needed you to help clean up the mess for me. I definitely won’t be so impulsive in the future. I will think about if my actions will trouble you. It was my mistake this time. Mr. Ranford, I’m sorry.”

Alexandra was as stubborn as a mule, but she also had a good temperament.

Since Julian took the initiative to apologize, Alexandra would not continue being so unreasonable either. After all, she was in the wrong in the first place.

Alexandra apologized nicely in a soft, cute voice to Julian.

Julian gazed at Alexandra’s luscious locks and suddenly wanted to touch the back of her head.

However, Julian pushed down that urge.

He averted his eyes as if that could cover up the odd wish that he had just had.

A moment later, Julian’s eyes returned to Alexandra. “If something like this happens again, you are not allowed to not say anything and mope. You must explain. I don’t have special powers, and I can’t read your mind. I promise I will not scold you again without finding out the truth, understood?”

“Yes.” Alexandra nodded quickly. “I got it.”

“Okay, let’s go. Let’s eat dinner. Julian turned and started for the door. After a few steps, he realized that Alexandra had not followed him.

Julian looked back at Alexandra.

Fidgeting awkwardly, Alexandra said, “I told Grams that I already ate. I will pass.”

Julian’s lips twitched. He went downstairs without saying anything.

Alexandra had not actually eaten much that day. How could she stomach food when she was in a bad mood?

Returning to the sofa, Alexandra picked up her paper and pen. Her mind kept replaying the delicious feasts that the Ranford family’s chef made.

She curled up on the sofa and only wrote a few words before she heard her stomach start grumbling.

Alexandra lay listlessly on the sofa and looked around Julian’s room. There was not a single snack to be found.

Ten minutes later, someone knocked on the door. Alexandra straightened immediately on the sofa.

The door opened. Julian opened the door, but he did not enter. “Come to my study to write your self-reflection.”

“Okay. Alexandra hugged her paper and pen and got off the sofa. She padded out in her slippers after Julian to the study.

When Alexandra entered through the door, Julian was already sitting before the computer working.

“What a workaholic, Alexandra thought.

Alexandra saw a small coffee table and a set of sofas on the left side of the desk, so she walked over to them. She sat on of the sofas and placed her paper and pen on the table, getting ready to continue.

Someone knocked on the door of the study.

“Enter,” Julian responded.

Ruth led a butler in. The butler wore a white apron and carried a huge platter in his hand.

“Master Julian, where would you like the food?” the butler asked.

Julian jutted his chin in the direction of the coffee table. “There.”

The butler walked toward Alexandra. She hurriedly moved her paper and pen to the side, lest the delicious and mouthwatering dinner would not be able to fit on the coffee table.

Alexandra purposely turned around and did not look as the butler set the table.

After the table was covered in food dishes, Ruth led the butler away. Before leaving, Ruth said to Julian, “Master Julian, enjoy

the meal.”

The door closed.

Alexandra swallowed her drool and snuck a glance at what delicious dishes were being served tonight.

However, Julian did not budge from his computer. He glanced at the girl on the sofa and asked, “Why aren’t you eating?”

Alexandra was stunned.

Alexandra’s head whipped around to look at Julian. “You’re not eating?”

Julian looked at Alexandra’s shining eyes and something soft floated past Julian’s heart. “You cat first. I have to reply to some

emails.”

“Then I’ll help you taste test and see which is the best.”

Julian’s lips quirked into a tiny smile. He stopped paying attention to Alexandra and started focusing on his work.

Alexandra grabbed a fork and dug in. The Ranford family’s chef made the best food she had ever eaten in her life.

While eating, Alexandra peeked at Julian.

The fluorescent blue light from the computer screen illuminated Julian’s serious and focused face. Alexandra occasionally heard the clattering from the keyboard as he typed.

Julian was so freaking hot when he was immersed in his work.

For a moment, Alexandra felt regret.

Alexandra wondered what kind of amazing woman would be good enough for Julian in the future.
