The Omnipotent Mrs. Ranford By Darlene Wright

Chapter 25

Chapter 25

When night fell, Alexandra returned to the Ranford family’s home.

Josephine was in the living room reading a newspaper with her spectacles. Alexandra greeted Josephine before going upstairs to her room.

Alexandra also told Josephine that she had eaten dinner with classmates, so there was no need to call her down for dinner.

As soon as Alexandra went upstairs, Caroline happened to come out of the bedroom.

Caroline walked over to Josephine and shot a gleeful glance toward the upstairs. “Josephine, Caroline said to Josephine, “I have something to tell you. Please do not get upset.”

“What is wrong?” Josephine asked, looking up as she set down the newspaper.

“Oh, I actually did not want to show you, but since we are one family, you should know. Look…” Caroline showed a screenshot on her phone to Josephine while explaining, “This incident caused quite a ruckus, but the trending hashtags disappeared afterward. Jule must have had someone take care of it.”

Josephine stared at the phone for a while. Her expression changed drastically.

Josephine got out of her chair and went toward the bedroom upstairs.

Caroline was happy that her trick had worked and followed Josephine up.

When Josephine and Caroline pushed open the door, Alexandra was preparing to write her self–reflection.

Alexandra saw Josephine’s furious expression and was sure that the two women had found out about the fight.

Josephine took a step forward. She was disliking Alexandra more and more. One could not fake one’s education and culture.

“You got into a fight at school?” Josephine demanded directly.

Alexandra did not know how they found out, but she could not deny it. After all, Julian had warned Alexandra before not to talk back to his grandma.

Alexandra stood there and nodded her head.

She did not say a single word.

Alexandra’s nod caused Josephine to gasp sharply.

Josephine did not think that Alexandra would admit it without even giving an explanation.

Caroline walked forward and put a hand on Josephine’s arm. “Mom, do not be upset,” Caroline said soothingly. “Alexandra must have her reasons, right? Nobody would pick a fight for no reason. But even if you fought, how come it spread online ast well? Fortunately, nobody knows about Alex’s identity. Otherwise, the entire Ranford family would be in trouble. Alex, hurry and tell us what happened.”

Alexandra scoffed coldly. Caroline was the only one who spoke up for Alexandra, but it was actually to mock Alexandra and put her down.

“There was no reason,” Alexandra said calmly. “I was wrong for picking a fight. I am sorry, Grandma. I will not do it again.”

The way Alexandra refused to explain made things difficult for Josephine.

Josephine was wise and experienced. She could guess that Julian already knew about this incident.

Alexandra admitted her mistake and also had a positive attitude. Even if Josephine wanted to scold Alexandra more,  S~ᴇaʀᴄh the Find_Nøvel.ɴet website on Gøøglᴇ to access chapters of novels early and in the highest quality.

Chapter 25

Josephine could not say anything anymore.

Suddenly, someone entered through the door. “What are you all doing here?”

Julian surveyed the three women in the room. He knew instantly that Josephine had come to question Alexandra about the fight.

When Julian looked at Alexandra, she avoided his eyes and did not look at him.

“Jule, Caroline said to Julian. “My friend showed me the news from the Internet. This incident…”

Julian moved his gaze away from Alexandra and walked up to Josephine. Julian said, “Grandma, I already took care of it. I will explain to you later.”

“Okay.”

Josephine looked back at Alexandra, who was quiet and had her head down. Josephine then went downstairs with Caroline.

Alexandra thought that Julian would leave with them. To her surprise, Julian walked over and closed the door.

Alexandra returned to the sofa and picked up her notebook and pen.

Before Alexandra could write a single word, her right wrist was captured in Julian’s big hand.

Taken aback. Alexandra looked up blankly at Julian. “What are you doing? Do not distract me from writing my self-

reflection.”

Julian had already learned about the incident’s true ins and outs.

Marco told him that Alexandra had hit Martha because Martha had purposely tripped another girl and Alexandra had found

it unfair.

It was also indeed Martha who had started it.

Alexandra avoided Julian’s eyes and pulled her wrist back..

“Do not move.” Julian tightened his grip. He squatted down and placed a plastic bag on the sofa.

The bag contained the bandages and disinfectant rubbing alcohol that he had bought on the way home.

Alexandra looked at Julian in surprise. Julian’s palm was warm. He could hold Alexandra’s wrist easily with one hand, only applying slight force.

At the moment, Julian was squatting on the rug beside the sofa and almost tilting his head back to look up at Alexandra.

Alexandra ducked back, feeling a chill.

Julian’s hand moved up and grasped Alexandra’s arm. Alexandra felt a warm electric current spread from her arm to the rest of her body.

Meanwhile, Julian only felt that Alexandra was very thin.

How could Alexandra be so tiny? Julian could hold Alexandra’s arm with just one hand.

Alexandra’s skin was very smooth.

Their eyes met. Alexandra was surprised and felt some discomfort at this kind of physical touch.

On the other hand, Julian saw his own reflection in Alexandra’s bright eyes.

“What’re you doing… Alexandra mumbled, not understanding what was happening.

Julian did not answer. He lowered his head, placing his gaze on Alexandra’s arm, and turned his hand slightly.

He saw the red scratch on the back of Alexandra’s arm. It was still very jarring to the eye.

Alexandra followed Julian’s gaze. Only then did Alexandra realize that she had injured her arm.

However, she had forgotten where she had gotten the scratch from.

It was probably when she had been fighting with Martha.

Alexandra’s heart skipped a beat.

She did not know how Julian knew that her arm was injured.

“Does it hurt?” Julian asked Alexandra while staring at the scratch.

Julian’s voice was gentle, low, and powerful.

Alexandra forgot to reply. She was immersed in her shock as she stared at Julian’s face.

Without warning, their eyes met again.

Alexandra blinked and shook her head.

Julian did not say anything. He let go of Alexandra’s arm and reached over to open the plastic bag on the sofa. Julian took out the iodine, a cotton swab, and a bandage.

He dipped the cotton swab with disinfectant rubbing alcohol.

Alexandra leaned backward. “I can do it myself. No need to trouble you.”

Julian looked at Alexandra. As if not hearing Alexandra’s words, Julian grasped her arm again. Alexandra struggled a bit. When she saw Julian’s determined eyes, Alexandra did not dare move again.

She gave up on struggling.

The injury stung when the cool alcohol touched the skin. Alexandra could not help but hiss in pain. She instinctively wanted to pull her arm back.

However, Julian tightened his grip even more.

Next, Alexandra felt a refreshing feeling from where her arm was throbbing. She looked back and saw that Julian was blowing softly on the injury.

It was like someone had grabbed Alexandra’s heart. Her breath jumped and became erratic.

Julian’s breaths were like a warm breeze that chased away Alexandra’s pain.

“Mr. Ranford,” Alexandra could not help but call out to him.

Julian glanced at Alexandra and did not answer. Julian continued to disinfect the injury bit by bit with the cotton swab. He did not want to hurt Alexandra again, so all of his actions were very cautious.

Alexandra gazed at Julian’s head. His hair looked very soft, making one want to touch it.

This man had unparalleled wealth and status, but right now, he was half–kneeling on the ground to treat Alexandra’s tiny injury.

Julian also smelled of faint cologne.

Suddenly, Alexandra heard Julian say, “Alexandra, I’m sorry.”
