Second Skin
I’d been locked in Alex’s bedroom for a good twelve hours now. Someone brought me lunch but I couldn’t eat it. The room was too high up for me to jump and the door was too solid to break down. I nearly paced a rut into the room before I finally collapsed on the bed. My only chance was when someone came in with food and I suspected that would be Alex with dinner. I could defend myself but fighting Alex was asking too much. My mind was dried up well.
The door rattled softly for a second. I thought it was the window and stared back out the window. I had to find a way out of this room. I wasn’t going to be a prisoner. The door rolled inward though the other side was dark and quiet.
“Alex?” I asked, sliding off the bed.
I watched the space which was quickly filled by two Alpha females.
“Crap,” I muttered.
I had to see this for myself,” Leiah spat.
Harlow kicked the door shut. I climbed back on the bed and crawled to the other side, creating a sizable but not big enough gap between the two girls and me. Leiah’s eyes would have turned red with murder if they could. Harlow surprisingly the calmer of the two stood beside her best friend. It shouldn’t have surprised me though every predator was calm before they ripped off the heads of their prey. That scared me more than Leiah.
“I don’t want this Leiah,” I said.
“Who gives a fuck! You’re here! That’s why I didn’t sleep in here last night. Alex was shaken up with you! You whore!”
I hugged my trembling frame, “I swear nothing happened.”
*You expect us to believe us?” Harlow dipped her head to the side. “You know what? This makes sense.”
“What?” Leiah frowned.
“This has been her plan since the second she set foot in our school. Get into bed with the biggest fish so she could become the precious Alpha’s omega.”
Harlow’s words stroked the fire in Leiah. Her body trembled with rage she could barely look at me.
You made a mistake looking at my mate,” Leiah yelled, her wolf bark shining through her voice.
I slammed against the wall. The terror her roar awakened in me was more than any dose of Alpha power. The closest route of escape was the window but that would be my instant death. Leiah’s eyes. turned yellow and her teeth sharpened themselves to razor–sharp points. Do I want to be ripped apart. by an Alpha female thought?
“I didn’t sleep with Alex. He wasn’t here last night. Ask him, please.”

“Why should I listen to you, you slut? You failed with Kade now you want to take my man? I’ll kill you.”
Harlow smirked stepped aside and leaned against the wall. Leiah’s clothes ripped off her body as silky brown fur replaced her smooth skin. A giant wolf took the place of the petite girl there before. Harlow moved to the bathroom entrance for a better view of my murder. Leiah leaped on the bed and everything moved in slow motion. The lamp on the bedside would slow her for a second, the rug wouldn’t do anything. I couldn’t flip the bed and crush her but the lace curtain if wrapped around her head would scramble her senses for a good twenty seconds long enough for me to dash out.
I yanked the lace curtain off the rail and pulled over her face like a sack. She barked and clawed my thigh. I winced but recovered fast enough to jump over the bed and aim for the door. Harlow pulled. the run and I tripped.
“You’re not going anywhere,” Harlow said.
I slammed my foot against her ankle twice. She cried out in pain and shuffled back to the bed. My twenty seconds with Leiah were up. The wolf jumped on me and barked in my face. I grabbed her jaw and tucked my legs under her. I’d only done this once and once with a smaller wolf.
“Kill her!” Harlow bellowed.
Leiah sunk her teeth into my palm I winced but kicked her middle with both feet. She wined allowing me to lift my legs higher and hurl her forward. I stumbled to my feet. Leiah shook her head and growled at me. She didn’t like that much.
I grabbed the lamp off the stand and smashed it on the side of her head. Leiah whimpered before slumming on the floor. Harlow dropped beside her best friend in disbelief.
“You… you bitch!”
I opened the door and ran straight into two men. Crap!
“What happened?” They rushed in.
Tristan arrived after the two males. He stared at me then Harlow and Leigh on the flow. He raised his brow. He had to know this was an assassination attempt. I slipped passed him. Which way to Kade’s
room?
“Don’t let her get away! She did this. Grab her,” Harlow ordered.
I darted to the right and met an identical set of doors. “Kade!”
I took another turn and hoped this was the boy’s side. My heart ran a marathon but my legs were prepared to give out on me. Kade’s door was the one opposite a window. I recalled I prayed it wasn’t Tocked if he wasn’t there. I yanked the handle and slipped inside.
“Kade?” I panted.
His bed was made the windows were open. I turned around and locked the door. I grabbed a chair and put it under the knob. It wouldn’t do much to stop an Alpha male but it was all I could manage. I crawled onto the bed and curled into a ball.

she was a Luna elect. There were punishments for that. Doesn’t matter that Alex chose me to be his omega. The Luna always outweighed the omega.
“Kade, please come.” I whispered.
My heart settled and my muscles relaxed. My eyelids drooped seconds later I fell into a blissful and dangerous sleep.
