Kade “The Alpha’s Command” Part One
My basketball hit the ceiling. I couldn’t believe she didn’t show up. I threw the ball in the air the second it reached I my palms. I kept her thong on my nightstand for her to see when she walked in. But she
never came.
I went downstairs to grab something to eat before I stepped out.
“Alex, babe have yo
heard?” Leiah purred.
I poured myself black coffee when I overheard her.
“What?” Alex snapped.
Interesting tone. What had him in a mood?
“You’re in a mood. I just thought you’d know your little omega best friend has a mate.”
The mug in my grip was seconds from breaking.
“What? Who? What are you talking about?” Alex blasted,
Gabbie didn’t tell him and Harlow managed to convince her friend not to tell Alex about what happened with Gabbie in the woods. Not that she could without implicating herself. Leiah didn’t know Gabbie and I were fated mates in her mind she was my bedmate,
I kept my back turned to them on the dining table and listened for the defining moment. My lips curled when I thought of Alex’s face when he was told I was his best friend’s mate then again. Leiah wouldn’t rat me out like that. I was still the son of the alpha in her pack until and if Alex took her into his pack.
Fuck, what the hell was she talking about?
“Didn’t she tell you? I thought you were best friends? Leiah snickered.
I turned and noticed Harlow’s burning gaze first. She’d abandoned her English breakfast. Admitting Gabbie was my mate and she wasn’t, was embarrassing for her.
“Spit it out Leiah, of course, she hasn’t.”
“Baxter, apparently they’re fated mates,” Leiah said.
Iclenched my jaw to stop the roar from escaping me. Baxter? That prick.
“What?” Alex flipped his plate over.
His mate screamed but a smile played on her lips. Harlow sighed following everyone else’s gasps.
“Sanders, did you know anything about this?”

1 set the mug down or it would break. Alex shouldn’t have come at me because now I would break his Tees
“Why would I?”
“He’s your idiot beta. I’m going to break him.”
“Hold it guys, don’t you think it’s weird for a wolf–less to have a fated mate?” Gareth appeared out of nowhere and stepped between us
He enjoyed this too much. Why would Baxter pull a stunt like this? He couldn’t stand Gabbie because she kicked his ass more than once.
Stranger things have happened, who cares?” I snapped.
“This better not be true. It can’t be true.” Alex raked his fingers through his hair and paced the dining room. He wasn’t taking this well.
“Why are you so upset? You should be happy your little omega has a man to take care of her for the rest of her life.”
“She doesn’t need one! I can’t let her go to Sanders pack. They would kill her.”
“That isn’t true.” I barked. “Maybe let her decide.”
“I can’t believe you two are arguing about a wolf–less Harlow laughed. “Pathetic. You know it’s true Kade. The omega won’t last in Sanders’s pack.”
My eyes bore into her. I brushed past her and went to my room I pulled out the phone I barely used from my drawer and texted Holden to send Baxter to me immediately. I tossed the phone back and marched downstairs by the time I got back the dining room had cleared out.
Alex was gone too. I thought he might have gone after Gabbie but I had to deal with Baxter first. I met the guys in the gym and closed the door.
“I’ve been meaning to speak to you, Kade. Baxter said.
“Save it. Why the fuck would you say Gabbie’s your fated mate?
He smirked and shrugged but I wasn’t laughing. Come on-
“I’ll break your neck if you don’t answer me. Baxter.”
“It’s just a joke man. I don’t have feelings for her. I wouldn’t mate a wolf–less anyway.”
“It doesn’t matter if she doesn’t have a wolf why would you target her.”
He shrugged and grumbled. “I saw her mate mark. I thought it was funny someone from Sanders mated her. Ironically, we can’t stand omegas.”
“Why do you care so much? You-”

“You won’t ever look her way again. If Gabbie as much as tells me you bothered her my pack goodbye.”

Understanding passed through his features. “Got it. Your father’s here and he’s looking for you that‘ what I wanted to tell you.”
Crap. Why was he here?
My father waited for me in Athena’s office. My father wasn’t the type for social visits. I hadn’t seen him in six months. When I walked into the office he cracked a smile. He wasn’t the type to smile often. I didn’t know which way to interpret this.
“Son you look good.”
“Dad, what are you doing here?”
He reclined on Athena’s chair like he owned the place. He might as well, considering the amount of money Sanders pack donated to the academy,
He chuckled and stood. “Kade, always straight to the point. How are your preparations for the battle season? You haven’t come home for your ritual.”
My father had started going grey and the laugh lines on his eyes were defined. He was counting on me to take over as alpha as soon as I graduated.
“I don’t need to do that, Dad.”
You were intent on it a few months ago.” Dad raised his brows.
“Dad, what are you doing here? I’ve got things to do.”
He raised his hands. “I heard something very interesting and I thought I’d ask you in person since you never answer our calls. Don’t give me that phones aren’t allowed at the academy bullshit.”
I ground my teeth. He knew.
“Yes, I have a fated mate.”
“And she’s wolf–less?”
“That doesn’t matter.”
“It matters a lot! It’s against our pack rules and you’re an alpha you can’t take such a weak mate what’s wrong with Harlow?”
“She’s obviously the one who told you.” I won’t let her get away with this.
“She’s a powerful she–wolf”

“She’s a psycho.”
“You think your mother’s normal You’ll learn to live with it like I have.”
I ran a hand down my face. “I’m not leaving Gabbie She’s a gift given to me by the moon goddess.”
“Rejection is your way out.”
“I said no. I love her”
“Love! You don’t know what you’re saying” He raised his voice for the first time since I got here.
“Maybe you should leave.” I said.
“Kade, if you don’t leave that girl on your own you’ll leave me no choice.”
I balled my hands into fists. I walked up to my father and looked him dead in the eye. My wolf raged and projected in my eyes. I had to calm him down or risk unleashing the beast.
You can’t threaten me, boy, the old man laughed. His eyes widened and his eyes turned yellow. Veins popped out of his neck as he blasted thunderbolts of alpha power at me
My wolf blocked the attack effortlessly. I was twelve the last time my father had control over me. Dad panted after the blast that would have sent any wolf through the door. He gripped the back of a chair for support
“Kaden,” he grunted.
“You can’t stop me so you might as well get out of my way.”
“You leave me no choice. No son of mine will mate with an omega.
I turned to leave. I needed to find Gabbie. I stopped to glance at my father one last time. He would kill the woman I loved just for his selfish agenda.
“You know the Sanders pack is dying. I hope you realize you and your forefathers are the reason.” I slammed the door behind me.
“Gabbie“”
Her eyes went wide for a second before she turned and bolted down the hall. A group of freshmen carrying boxes of weeds glanced between us but I didn’t care what they thought. I marched past them. and caught Gabbie walking into a class.
Did she think I was mad at her for the Baxter rumour I burst into the room. I caught Gabbie and her friend bent over in hushed conversation. They jumped when I stormed in
“Why are you avoiding me?” I demanded.
The room was empty and Emery already knew aboutus so I didn’t have to worry about anyone finding

“I wasn’t I’m late for class.” She shrugged. Did she expect me to buy that?
Emery fidgeted with her hands. A few more seconds and she would start sweating.
“I’m actually late for a thing. I have to see the nurse. Bye!”
“No. Emery. Gabbie hissed.
Emery scurried away. I slammed the door behind her and marched up to Gabbie she backed up into at desk
“What’s up?” I caged her between my chest and her desk.
Gabbie looked everywhere but at me but all I wanted was to gaze into her green eyes.
“M–me? Nothing. What’s up with you?”
“Why are you nervous? Something to tell me?”
“Me! Why would you think that?”
“Because I can sense you’re nervous and I tell you’re lying”
“I have things to do we’ll talk later.” She ran smack into my chest and grumbled.
Why did she have to be so damn stubborn?
“Is it about Baxter? I know. I told him to lay off you.”
Her eyes went wide. “You did? I swear I have no idea what got into him. Before he saw my mark he tried showing me interest. I didn’t-”
I felt like a whistle kettle when the water boiled. My wolf nearly shattered the barrier between man and
wolf. I held him back or he would hurt Gabbie.
“Baxter did what?”
“Kade?”
“Gabbie, I want you to repeat yourself.”
“I think we should forget this instead,” she mumbled.
“Gabriella Chambers, did he touch you? He won’t have legs by the time I’m done with him.”
“Stop! He knows I have a mate and now he knows it’s you so you don’t have to worry. Forget it please?”
I stroked her cheek but she still couldn’t look at me. Something else is bothering you.”
She nodded slowly. “I don’t want to upset you. I know you’ll be mad and I’m just trying to avoid something awful.”

Each day my wolf wondered when I would put us out of our misery and finally mate her. I wouldn’t be able to leave her then
I cupped both her cheeks and made her look into my eyes when she spoke.
“Last night-
The door burst open and slammed against the wall pulled Gabbie into my arms and growled. Athena stood on the doorframe. Fuck.
“So, it’s true. You’ve mated the wolfless,” she panted.
“Yes, I raised my chin
“Gabbie’s leaving”
“What: “Why” Gabbie stared between Athena and me
“Did my father order you to do this? Is this how he’s going to separate me from my mate?”
Athena shook her head. “He’s sent wolves to collect her. She’s not leaving this school alive. That is your father’s command.”
