“You told your father about us?” My hands trembled
“Harlow did.” Kade mumbled
He stood between Athena and me. My principal had a duty to hand me over to one of the most powerful alphas in the shifter community but my mate had a duty to protect me. I had the will to live and wouldn’t let myself die
The classroom was on the second floor of McGregor Castle. It would be quite a drop but if I hung onto the window and climbed into another room I would be out of the frying pan and onto the counter. I didn’t need my belongings I needed safety.

I nodded slowly and peeled myself away from the wall. Kade grabbed me and locked me in an embrace. He grabbed the back of my head and stroked my hair.

He pulled back and kissed me. I kissed him as if it were the last. I wrapped my arms around his neck. standing on my toes to kiss him just right.

The lights on the bus came on as the door opened. I turned and found Kade on two feet. I jumped on his naked body and squeezed.
“You have to go now,” he said.
“Thank you.”
He pulled back and kissed me. “I have to go.”
I watched him shift back and run through the murky ground.
