“Gabbie you have to tell me what happened. I think Emery’s traumatized,” Blair said as soon as I walked into the room.
“What did she say?”
“Nothing! She won’t say anything. She’s hiding under her covers
“1. maybe we should give her some space.”
“Did he hit you guys?”
“No, nothing like that. But it was dark and there were rats everywhere.”
Blair grimaced and then turned over to Emery. “I hate rats more than the next guy, but I don’t think it causes
that.”
Emery’s little body quaked under the purple covers. My heart shattered. Was she embarrassed I knew or maybe Tristan forced her to be with him?
“She doesn’t want to talk to anyone. Yeah, we should give her some space.” Blair said.
I didn’t want to give her space anymore. I wanted to figure out what hurt her. Me or Tristan? The dinner bell rang and the girls piled out of the room. Emery just remained in her bed, sobbing. Blair dragged me out.
“Are you the reason Cole has two black eyes?” Blair whispered.
I scanned the dining room. Cole limped toward his table. He clutched his side and groaned as he sat down.
“No, how could I?” I lookedglanced at the bubbles in my chicken soup.
“Please, you’re more than capable.”
Just looking and the watery brown substance before me made me lose my appetite, but I skipped lunch so I was forced to eat it. It wasn’t bad after you got past the taste of metal.
“I mean it 1 haven’t touched him. I don’t want anything to do with him.”
Though, I had an idea of what happened to him.
“I wonder what happened then. Whatever, he deserves it,” Blair said.
After dinner, we spent an hour before it was lights out. I snuck out of bed when I thought everyone was asleep. I picked our one of the cutest shirts I owned. A baby pink crop top with washed blue high–waist jeans. I struggled to figure out how to style my hair. I usually wore it in a ponytail
“Emery,” I hadn’t noticed her come out of the bathroom stall,
She dipped her head and gripped her clothes
“Can we talk?”
“I don’t have anything to say,” she mumbled and hurried away.
I sighed and glanced at the ceiling. I never noticed the window above the sink before.
“At least I don’t have to worry about sneaking out of the dorm room.”

“He owes me for this. Whoever heard of sneaking out during the witching hour to prove you’re in love with someone?” The window was higher than I anticipated. I landed in a pile of dirt and forgot to snatch my jacket from my bed. Now I braced the biting cold to get to the Alpha castle.
My heart was racing. What if I got caught? What if someone caught my scent. If an Alpha saw me I was screwed. I would be lucky if it was Tristan, but how lucky could I be?
“I don’t want to have this conversation Harlow.”
I stopped dead in my tracks. I cupped my mouth to prevent the gasp from escaping. I was seconds away from turning the comer of a tall green hedge.
“You think I’m going to let you make a fool of me? I’m not going to let you mate that girl!”
“There’s nothing you can do. I love her!
Harlow laughed, “You can reject her. The mate bond isn’t unbreakable”
“Yous
should leave.”
“Why?” She exclaimed.
My heart slammed forward. I should have run back to the omega quarters, but I was rooted to the spot. I heard the sob in her voice and felt horrible. I took her mate.

“Fuck you! I don’t want you to be sorry. I want you to get rid of that omega or else I will!”
“No. No, Harlow, you won’t touch her.”
After that, I wasn’t all that sympathetic.
“We’ll see.”
“Don’t test me. Don’t forget I’m an Alpha and you’ll regret crossing me.”
Harlow didn’t respond. She puffed and then there was silence. I placed my hand on my chest. Did she know I was supposed to be here? I didn’t believe Harlow was gone. She could come back and catch us or cut me off on my way back. She would gladly finish the job this time,

can come out now, Gabbie,” Kade said.
“You sure?”
“Of course.
I slowly emerged from my hiding space. Kade sat on the edge of the fountain.
“Come here
you look beautiful”
“What if she comes back?”
Kade pulled me on his lap. “She won’t. No one’s going to see us. If they do they’ll pretend they hadn’t.”
“Kade, did you do something to Cole?”
“Does it matter?”

“Yes, is that why you were MA?*
“I needed to teach him a little lesson.”
“Little?” I whisper–yelled.
He brushed my bottom lip with his thumb. “I couldn’t stand him the day I saw you two together.
“Did you know I was your mate already?”
He let out a deep breath, “I think I knew the day I saw you, but I refused to accept it. I only accepted it when I caught your leaving the Gamma ceremony.”
He gripped my hand and stroked the back of it. “I hated when someone else touched you or even looked at you. I haven’t wanted to kill more shifters since you showed up. You’re mine, Gabbie.”
“It makes sense now why you were always stalking me
He turned my head and crashed his lips against mine. He cupped his cheek and brushed my fingers along his jawline.
“You drive me insane,” he said between kisa.
His hand travelled under my shirt and teased my cold skin.
“You’re the only person I’ve thought about for weeks. I didn’t know how much I needed someone until you came toto my life?
“Kade,” I moaned.
He pulled me off his lap so I was standing between his thighs. He pulled me into his arms and deepened our kiss. Something in me sparked to life. I needed him as desperately as he wanted me. I felt his erection against my jeans. I was inexperienced. I didn’t know what to do. The prospect of having sex with him made me go stiff.

He cupped my cheeks and smirked.

He gripped the hem of my shirt and pulled it over my head. I wrapped my arms around his neck.

I confidently lifted Kade’s shirt over his head. He fiddled with the buttons of my jeans until he ge
got them open. Somewhere in the midst of passionate kissing, we ended up down to our underwear. I didn’t care if anyone saw us anymore. I wanted him. Kade made me feel alive. He didn’t always say the right things, but he was mine. I never thought he would be. Why would an Alpha look at an omega like me!

He grabbed my butt in his right palm and lifted me. I wrapped my legs around his waist and clung to him. Without clothes, I felt like I was blending into him. Something inside me reached qut and wanted to touch him.
