The Omega Best Friend

Chapter 24

Chapter 24

If I was going to keep my relationship with Kade a secret, I was going to have to find a way to prevent myself from smelling like him. When Alex finds out he’s going to feel betrayed that’s if he gives a damn. Though, Alex and Kade are enemies. I shouldn’t have looked at Kade to begin with it had to be against some code, but fate had other ideas.

“I’m so excited. It’s the first school trip of the year!” Emery bounced.

“We’re going to a mountain, not palm springs,” Blair said.

“I have to agree with Blair on this one,” I said with a sigh.

“At least we get to leave this horrible place, plus free t–shirts!”

“I’ll gladly start a campfire with it.” Blair rolled her eyes.

Students wandered around the academy grounds after the assembly was dismissed. The big announcement was the school trip to Ester Mountain. It is a shifter historical site. It was the equivalent of going to the museum.

T–shirts were passed around according to rank to wear on the trip. The omegas got army green shirts. They looked like vomit. I hadn’t seen Kade. He wasn’t at the assembly. I had seen Alex. He was stone cold. A part of me wanted to him to see me. He couldn’t just abandon me without reason. I thought he would sleep it off and we could move forward,

“Come on, let’s go get the ugly t–shirts,” Blair said.

-Blair and I came from the same pack so we queued on the same line. Emery was Richardson, she was on the next one. Alex handed the shirts out. He looked jaded as he tossed the shirts. I looked to the Sanders line. Baxter was handing the shirts out I grimaced.

“Worthless omega!” A high pitched voice screamed.

I gasped as did everyone else. For a second I thought the words were directed at me.

What the “1 asked.

Heads turned to the front of the next line. Emery shivered as she cradled her cheek.

“Oh no.”

“No, Gabbie,” Blair said through gritted teeth.  Sᴇaʀ*ᴄh the Find ɴøᴠel.nᴇt website on Gøøglᴇ to access chapters of novels early and in the highest quality.

“Look at her..”

Emery coward in front of a tall blonde man and a short girl with thin black hair and pale blue eyes. My blood boiled. The short she–wolf’s face burned with fury.

“What did she do?” I whispered..

“Could be anything Richardson have the strictest rules.”

“I don’t want to see your face! You obviously need to be reminded your place omega.”

“Gabbie,” Blair shook me

I didn’t realize when I’d gotten to the front of the line. Alex and I stared at each other, but my heart was with my petrified friend. Alex gripped the shirt. I sighed. Staying out of trouble wasn’t my thing anyway.

“Damn it Gabbie,” Blair whined.

Chapter 24

I marched to the next time with a buzz in my blood. I got to Emery before the she–wolf could and stepped in front of her. I should have told Emery to run.

“What are you doing?!” She hissed.

“Are you okay?” I blurted out.

The she–wolf’s beady eyes sparkled at the opportunity to humiliate another omega. Emery curled into a ball behind me. The she–wolf let out a nasty cackle. I expected a dose of Alpha power, but it never came. A hand came at me in rapid pace and I caught it before my mind could process I was being attacked.

Another round of gasps. I swear I heard Blair slap her forehead. The Richardson Alpha darted between us. He ripped my hand off his she–wolf’s wrist. His sudden appearance made me stumble and push Emery back.

“That’s enough both of you.” He barked. “Castle cellar. Now.”

“Come on.” Emery trembled, yanking on my arm.

Instead of the broad and furious Alpha in front of me. I had my eyes glued on the one watching this all play out. I understood the situation from then on.

“I don’t want to be in there alone.” Emery whimpered.

“I’ll be right next door.” I said

“It’s horrible in there! There are rats everywhere.”

“Crap.

Tristan Richardson shoved me in the left cellar. “The mops are coming.” He said.

“Oh screw you.” I whispered

I wrapped my arms around myself and scooted to the door. The other cellar door slammed. I jumped and something. rushed across the room. I hated rats with every fibre of my being. The floor was soggy, the celling leaked and spider homes. dangled in the corners.

The cellar was huge and dark it was directly under the castle. If listened carefully I could hear footsteps from above aside from the squeaking and the steam coming out of the pipes.

“Oh crap.” 1 whispered. The door rolled in. I stumbled into the corner and squealed when I felt something scatter.

“Gabbie”

“Kade?”

He grumbled and I ran into his arms. He kicked the door shut and carried me to the side.

“Why did you close the door? We can’t get out.”

“I have a key.”

Of course he did. I could barely see his face in the dark. The steam was making me sweat. He snaked his arm around my waist and pulled me close.

“I was gone for a few hours Gabbie. Couldn’t you stay out of trouble for an hour?”

“They didn’t have to abuse–her.”

He stroked my hair as he rested his chin on top of my head.

You can’t go around playing hero, Gabbie.”

Yeah, keep my head down and survive right?”

“That isn’t who you are. At least try to get into trouble when I’m around.”

“It’s not like I pick when these things happen.” I snapped.

“Whatever, let’s get out of here.” He pulled out a set of keys from his back pocket.

Wait, what were you doing?”

“Nothing babe.” He jammed the key in the whole.

“You’re not going to tell me?”

“I’ll tell you later. Don’t worry about it.”

The door opened.

“Can we get Emery out too?” I asked.

The next cellar door groaned as it opened. Tristan walked with Emery’s hand in his fist. I blinked a couple times.

“Well, this is interesting” Kade said with a smirk.

“Mind your own business Sanders and I won’t mind yours.”

I couldn’t meet Emery’s eyes. She kept her gaze at the ground. That’s the reason the she–wolf attacked her

“I have to when you decide to punish my-”

I elbowed Kade in the side before he blew our secret! He groaned and cursed under his breath, I whispered an apology.

You make sure she doesn’t land up in here again I’ll keep my mouth shut in front of Jade”

“Alex’s is going to kill you.” He grumbled. He tugged on Emery’s hand and dragged her out. She couldn’t even look back.

“What… what did he do to her?” I uttered as we walked out the back of door into the garden.

I had been locked in the cellar for less than an hour but I had never missed the sun and the scent of flowers in the air.

Kade glared at me in response to my question. “Do I have to spell it out for you?”

Ugh, no, but Emery’s with someone and I just never expected

“Stay out of it Mate.” He said it as if his word was law.

“I won‘

“Gabbie!” He threw his hands in the air.

“Fine fine was just kidding.”

He cupped my cheeks and I jumped out of his hold. I looked around. There were a few staff members lurking. Kade flashed

Tristan think’s we’re lovers.” I whispered

“We’re more than that”

I know I just

“Still care what Alex thinks?” He snapped.

“No.” This time I tried to reach out for him but he backed away. I want you. As weird as it sounds.”

Yeah?”

“Of course.”

“Then meet me here before midnight”
