The murder card

Chapter 35

Dear diary, our task was semi successful. Just like everything else in life, it had a good and a bad side. Some didn’t make it out alive and those are terribly missed by those who did make it. I feel terrible for not missing anyone but Ian, but I didn’t even know anyone else or I barely knew them. However, I do respect their actions and their sacrifice, but their journey on this Earth is now completed. Ian is the one we should focus on. He is still alive, but trapped and we don’t know how long they will keep him alive. I don’t want to imagine what they are doing to him. It is quite possible he is captured because they know he plays an important role. His jail was far more secured than mine, so I was the only one Rei was able to save. He couldn’t get to Ian, and we needed to go, or we would still be there too. He couldn’t risk it. He had a choice, to get me out, or no one. I’m glad he took the risk. He was happy with what he got, he was able to copy their whole system, wiring every computer they have. It was a gold mine. So it was no surprise it was very well protected. If the system would get downloaded it would automatically get encrypted. So the thief would need to unlock whatever he had. It had a barrier, Rei needed to take down. Eventually he did, but he ran into another problem. Everything was in Latin, every single word. So of course it needed to be translated. It didn’t take long to be. Rei finally though he was done and ready to explore when the information was translated, but he was wrong. When translation completed, it launched a countdown. Countdown for self-destruction. After forty-eight hours, everything will self-delete itself, leaving the thief with very little time to do or find anything. The data was endless, a mess, without a head or a tail. There is no indication where to start, where to look. It’s a maze. So Rei needed to move fast, faster than he expected and there was no time to rest. Meanwhile, I knew my cover was blown and that by now, Mary or rather Belinda knew I was involved and her suspicious about me were correct. So I worried, that I might die as soon as she found out. She could have easily released the poison, hiding in my chip, but nothing happened. I told Rei about my fears and he informed me this will not happen. He disabled the poison function in my chip a while ago, but he forgot to mention because he was busy. I wasn’t mad, that he forgot to mention. Now I was just like everyone else, illegal, of the grid, a menace to society, trying to ruin lives of everyone. At least that’s the way we are portrayed. EasyWay quickly reacted over the footage ordeal and got the media on their side almost immediately. They addressed the issue and explained it in a way they wanted to, claiming it was fake. Digitally edited, not real at all. They blamed us for editing it, for trying to put them in a bad light. Demogorgon we were named by them, meaning evil that hides underground. It didn’t take them long to convince everyone, only few remained skeptical. The ones who saw their loved ones being murdered on screen. EasyWay had an answer for that too, claiming we used body doubles to make it as real as possible. Did they manage to convince everyone? I don’t know, but it would appear so. They did a very good job of lying to the public and protecting themselves. They could have just used the chip we have implanted and brainwash everyone, but they need to stage a show. If they simply did nothing and just brainwashed everyone, it could look suspicions to anyone in the future. For example, let’s say someone is studying history and they stumble on this footage. It would make them wonder, what is going on. So they would look further into that. And if the company didn’t address the issue and if everyone would find it fake without asking any question, it would appear odd. That person might start to wonder why did everyone so blindly follow and believe EasyWay. They would do a little more research and could quickly find out EasyWay’s manipulation of people. This was just a game to them, we weren’t being taken seriously, just labeled as horrible people in the media. Some even called us terrorists, people who would stop at nothing to get what they want. We won’t stop until the truth is revealed but for now, we are the bad guys to everyone blinded by lies EasyWay has been feeding people for years. The footage was soon forgotten but not us. The media was desperate to find more about us, so when they couldn’t they made up stories. Stories that would make us look like delusional and dangerous anarchist, trying to bring down the well-structured system. Some said we were trying to bring kayos and panic for no good reason but to be destructive. Some even showed pictures of our group but those were the ones that weren’t real. Pictures of violent and dangerous people started going around, claiming it was real footage of us, trying to harm good and honest people of EasyWay. Belinda was shown in tears while been questioned about us. Soon a picture of me found its way on the world wide web, available for everyone to see. I was now the face of terrorist, danger and terror. One reporter asked Belinda about me. She burst into tears, claiming she never knew what kind of evil laid inside of me. She acted shocked and told the interviewer shed pray on my behalf. I was sickened to my stomach, mad that they are getting away. Furious on how they are playing with people, hiding the truth. Things about us kept getting worse and worse and people were staring to get scared, that we would attack the public. But one good things did they came out of this mess. It got Lola’s attention.
