This time I agree with Blade. The fucking sun isn’t even up yet, so why the hell are we? I know I said that I didn’t care if Kodi participated in this competition, but I didn’t think she would drag me with her. The competition doesn’t start for two fucking hours. I watch as her and Mauku disappear into a tent which I am guessing is where one signs in and receives their competitor number. I have no idea how they choose which order for the competitors to go in, but I figured my little copper flame will be close to the last.

“Damn she drug you along with her for check in.” Kekipi comments.

“Don’t fucking start. I haven’t had enough coffee for this shit. Yes, your Luna threw me out of bed and shoved me into the shower this morning. I had no choice but to come with her.” I grumble.

A large cup is placed in front of my face. The smell of coffee drifts up and I grab it out of his hands taking a large gulp. Fuck, I wasn’t expecting it to be that fucking hot. I am positive I burnt my entire throat, thank god for fast healing. I notice that Kekipi has a couple of other cups. I bet those are for Mauku and Kodi. If there is one thing that we have all learned about our Luna is that she loves her coffee. She may seem like she is in a good mood right now but one wrong word and she will shank a bitch. Until she has her coffee she isn’t exactly a ray of sunshine. Mauku and Kodi walk out and I can tell he is leading her. Yeah, the look on her face is murderous. Shit, I stand up grabbing the cup out of Kekipi’s hand that was for her and hurry down there. Kekipi is right behind me with Mauku’s coffee. I can hear her mumbling about assholes under her breath as we got closer. Her head raises when the scent of coffee reaches her. I place the cup in her hand which earns me a smile. We went back to where Kekipi and I were sitting. By the time they get through with all the pre-competition stuff it will be time for their first run. I glanced out over the water and I am sure I saw Vahir peek above the waves. She was laying her head against my shoulder and I was sure as fuck using our bond to calm her down.

<As we figured Eros and his buddy, who’s name is Jeremy are here. They started running their mouths about her being in this competition. Mauku>

<Let me guess she didn’t take well with hearing what they had to say. Me>

<Oh she was pissed. She tore into them and I thought I was going to have to step in between the three of them. Thankfully we had already checked in and got our numbers so I turned her ass around and guided her out of the damn tent. Mauku>

<She is even more dangerous right now since she hadn’t had any coffee yet. Kekipi>

<I did consider letting her beat their asses, but then I saw the shadows start to creep in and I knew shit was getting out of hand fast. Mauku>

I didn’t even see the shadows start creeping in. They must have been in the tent. It is a good thing Mauku stopped her. If it weren’t for the competition I would have let her lose on those two little shits. By this time people are slowly starting to show up for day one of the competition. Mauku and Kodi head off to sit with the other competitors. I don’t like her being out of my sight but I can’t be in the tent with her. I trust Mauku to watch her when I can’t.

-I know but with those two here I would like to have a visual on them all the time. - Me

-Use the shadows. They will listen to us or talk with mate and see what she thinks. - Blade

-That could work. I will talk to her when they take their break. - Me

-We should have lunch ready for her. - Blade

-Yes, we should. I will call Noa and have him get something ready for her. - Me

I cut the link when the announcer steps up and tells us that the competition will be getting started in ten minutes. I see Eros and his buddy standing just outside the tent talking. I can’t hear what they are saying, but I notice they keep looking towards us. My eyes lock with is and I make it damn clear that I know who he is and that I am watching him. He is a big guy but I have at least six inches and at least fifty or so pounds on him. He looks away, good he needs to watch himself. His little friend doesn’t even bother looking. I smile as I watch Kodi paddle out to do her first run. Damn my Luna is good. I knew she was, but I will admit that the last time I saw her at a competition I wasn’t really paying attention to her surfing.

“Oh my god, this is so fucking good. Thank you for getting this.” Kodi groans.

“You are welcome my little copper flame. Noa dropped it off on his way to a doctors appointment. Nothing is wrong with him. It is just a yearly exam.” I told her.

I knew if I didn’t explain that she would freak out and think the worst. The six of us were sitting there eating lunch. Kodi’s is a light lunch which neither Blade or I liked, but she also explained that she might get sick if she ate something to heavy. It made since but I still didn’t like it. A few others from the pack came to watch Mauku and their Luna kick ass in this competition. Duncan even showed up. They all showed up at a reasonable time, not at the ass crack of dawn like I was forced to. Blade is asleep in my mind and I guess at least one of us should get to take a nap. I heard a growl and looked to see Kodi glaring at a small group of women. They were human and they were checking us out.

“Hush my little copper flame, they don’t have a chance.” I say.

“Alpha is right. All but two of us are mated so they are wasting their time.” Ino points out.

“Fine but they will lose a fucking hand if they touch.” She hisses.

She isn’t lying. Before I could say anything the announcer let everyone know that the competition will start back up in ten minutes. Kodi grabs her water as does Mauku and they head back to the tent. The human women walked by giggling trying to gain our attention with no luck. They tried that a couple of times before giving up. I did see one of them fall for no reason which made us laugh. I glanced over to see my little copper flame peaking out of the tent. I had a strong feeling that she was the reason for the human woman falling on her face. I focused all my attention on the competition and my Luna.

Kodi

It took every ounce of willpower I had not to throat punch fucking Eros and his little butt buddy. We knew he was going to be here so I was expecting that, but I didn’t think he would run his mouth after last time. As soon as he saw me he started bitching like some fucking teenage girl that didn’t get her way. At least his little butt buddy knew better than to start whining like a little girl. Again the sponsors told him that they invited me to be in this competition which just pissed Eros off more. Not that I care. He did throw a venomous glare at me as he walked out of the tent. Again I could care less. I could feel the shadows moving around which I was not prepared for. I know I didn’t′ ask then to spy on anyone which means Reign is using them. I will be talking about this later with him. I don’t care if he uses them, but I would like to know what is going on.

“You did fantastic my little copper flame.” Reign told me.

We had just arrived home from the competition. There is still two more says left, but I am not concerned. I walked out of the shower to find Reign laying on the bed with his head resting on his folded arms. As usual he is shirtless and only wearing a pair of boxers.

“Thank you my alpha. I may drown Eros just a heads up.” I comment.

“Unfortunately you can’t hurt him yet. Maybe after the competition. I would like to know what he is up to.” He replied.

“You think that others are here under the guise of watching the competition?” I asked.

“I wouldn’t put it past them to try and hide in the crowd. I do know that Zenos is not here. I do think that he send a few of his guys to scope out the pack and you. So please be careful.” Reign states.

“I am guessing that is why you are using the shadows. I felt them moving about and I know I didn’t tell them to spy so I figured you are the one responsible for their activity.” I point out.

“Yes, I wasn’t keeping it from you. It was Blades idea. I knew you would notice the shadows moving about and I figured we talk about when you were done for the day.” He says.

“Reign it’s fine and it was a great idea. Good job Blade.” I told him.

I giggle when I see Reign roll his eyes. I bet that Blade is running in circles wagging his tail and being overly silly since I praised him for his good idea. Big tough alpha wolf is an grown puppy when it comes to me. I climb on the bed and lay my head on his chest. His massive hand starts running up and down my back. Damn that feels good.

I wake up the next morning to my phone blowing up and a fucking thunderstorm raging outside. I don’t even need to look at my phone to know that the competition is on hold till this shitty weather blows over. I check my phone to see that the sponsors send out a mass text and email telling us that today's runs are on hold. Yeah, already guessed that. I roll over to find Reign’s side of the bed cold. He has been gone a while. I can tell that he isn’t far through our bond. I am guessing he is in his office. I climb out of bed and grab one of Reign’s hoodies slipping it on. I make my way down stairs to find the kitchen is in full swing. I load up a tray with a mountain of food and carry it back up. Well one of the omega’s carries it for me. I tried to tell him I could handle it but he insisted. I knock on his office door. I don’t hear anything so I open the door. Five heads pop to look at me. They look super guilty of something.

“What are the five of you up to?” I asked.

“Nothing we were just going over patrol routes and seeing who we could send out to watch Eros and his little friend since we clearly are not surfing today.” Mauku says.

“Okay, sure.” I deadpanned

The omega sets the tray on Reigns’ desk as the other little shits scurry out of his office. I will let them think that I believe them, but I don’t. I know they are up to something but I will let it go for now.

“Thanks for breakfast my little copper flame.” Reign told me.

I smile at him as he loads a plate out with a mountain of food. I start to fill a plate for me but he pulls be down into his lap and tells me was can share a plate. Bullshit, he is going to eat most of this. I don’t eat half as much as anyone of these fucking bottomless pits. I do however like being close to Reign so I get comfortable as he starts feeding me. Big bad alpha indeed.
