The Missing Princess

I sat there staring at my father. I knew he and Alpha Aaron were friends, but I also knew they hadn’t spoken in years. Dad hated that, but with everything that had happened he didn’t want to take the chance that our enemies targeted the pack. Fucking great great great great grandfather and great great great Uncle Redmond. If they hadn’t tricked the dark fae king at the time to arrange a marriage between his daughter and great great great Uncle Redmond none of this shit would have happened. Fucking great great great Uncle Redmond, if he wouldn’t have been such a dick to his wife then everything would have gone so much better but he was a sadistic asshole. Thank god for great great great grandmother. She saw what was going on and put a stop to their sadistic fucking ways. She took the throne and fixed all that they had fucked up. She had exiled all of them and everyone else who supported them. Over the last two hundred or so years a few of them had tried to retake the throne with no success. Dad had just put the last of them to death right before I had taken over. That was also the last time he had spoken with Alpha Aaron.

“What did Alpha Aaron want?” I asked.

My two younger brothers walked into the room before he could answer me. I rolled my eyes as they sat down. They were supposed to be here half an hour ago. It was just like them to show up late. They are lucky they are my brothers and third and fourth in command. Ilyum my second in command and best friend was laughing at them. Dad was glaring at them. Dad nods at them before leaving the room. Hopefully he is going to call Alpha Aaron.

“Where is Dad going?” Duncan asked.

“He is going to call Alpha Aaron. Remember that girl we have heard about? The girl that took the fucking surfing world by storm.” I state.

“Yeah, what about her?” Vahir asked.

I set Kodi’s picture on the desk in front of of them. I smirk as I watch their eyes damn near pop out of their heads. I will admit that I reacted the same way when I saw her picture. I knew she was related to us the minute I saw her. That hair and eye colour come from our family.

“Holy shit, she looks like great great great great great grandmother. The eyes and hair are the same colour.” Vahir points out.

“I know.” I replied.

I explain everything I know. Duncan asked how this is possible. I tell him I have no idea and that is why Dad is calling Alpha Aaron. I explain that Alpha Aaron called asking for me, but I was out at the time. I would have called him back but the last time I saw him I was little and I don’t really remember him and he was much closer with Dad. Dad didn’t mind calling him.

“What did you find out?” I asked Dad.

Duncan, Vahir, Illyum, and I are sitting in my office the next day. Dad had told us at dinner last night that he had spoken with Alpha Aaron, but he would discuss it with us today.

“Aaron is no longer the Alpha. He handed over the alphaship to his son Reign when he turned 20, so four years ago. He wouldn’t tell me much over the phone and he seemed hesitant to about Kodi. He would like us to come to the pack to talk and meet her. Kodi is Reign’s mate and Luna of the pack. I get the feeling that something is going on. He did tell me that the current and former fey kings would be present for the meeting as well.” Dad explained.

“That was not what I was expecting you to tell us. I just hope he isn’t setting us up for something.” I point out.

“He isn’t. I could tell in his voice he wanted to tell me more, but something was stopping him. I could damn near picture him looking over his shoulder making sure no one was listening in or watching him.” Dad comments.

“What could be going on that has him so secretive?” Vahir asked.

“I don’t know, but I know Aaron and he isn’t like that. The fact that the current and former fey kings will be present for this meeting has me intrigued. I haven’t spoken to Zhamaxin in years, but we always got along. We weren’t as close as Aaron and I but we were cordial. I know his twin grandsons took over a few years ago and they recently found their queen.” Dad told us.

“I tried to ask about Kodi, but he was very tight lipped when it came to her. I do know that Aaron was very close with the late fey princess Estella and her mate Jasper. Randy was close with them as well.” Dad added

We all looked at each other when Dad talked about Randy. He was very close to our family and when he died it hit our family hard. Mom had a very hard time with his death since his mate was her cousin. I will admit that the fact that fey royalty was involved in this was very interesting. My gut is telling me that it has something to do with with this Kodi girl. What happens next has us speechless. Dad took out his tablet and pulled up a series of videos. Alpha Aaron had emailed them to him. He told us not to say anything until all the videos were finished.

“What in the fuck did we just watch?” Duncan asked.

“That is Kodi.” Dad states.

“How?” I asked.

“That is what we will be finding out when we meet with them.” Dad answers.

I have no idea what the fuck I just saw, but it was both terrifying and mystifying at the same time. I am more than intrigued about her than before.

Alpha Aaron

Everyone was here, well except for Reign and Kodi. We are waiting on them. I have a feeling I know what might be delaying them and I shouldn’t be surprised considering that my son can’t keep his hands off his Luna, which is how it should be, but now is not the time. The door to the room opened as they walked in. By their scent along I knew I was right. Kodi was still fixing her hair with a slight blush on her face. Reign had that damn smirk on his face. He was not apologetic in the least, not that I expected him to be.

“Dude that is our sister.” Rory commented.

“And what is your point. She is my Luna and mate. I could say the same thing about to you Ro Ro.” Reign drawled.

I thought Rory was going to blow a gasket when Reign called him that. Dani had a hard time saying Rory’s name when she was little so she called him Ro Ro and called Vance, Dance. Vance was shooting daggers at Reign secretly telling him not to even thing about using the name Dani used to call him. Reign smirked at him as he pulled Kodi into his lap. Kodi was looking around the room at everyone while the boys were still having their glare down. I could tell that Kodi was growing increasingly uncomfortable at Shanadu, Cerelium, Vahir, and Duncan kept staring at her. She started fidgeting around in Reign’s lap.

“Hey my little copper flame what is wrong?” Reign asked.

“Um.” She quietly says.

She looked at him then at the other four. Both Reign and I followed her eye line and that is when he saw that they were staring with their mouths hanging open. Reign let out a low growl which shook them out of their stupor.

“Alpha Reign, Alpha Aaron, and Luna Kodi I would like to apologise for being rude. We weren’t meaning to stare.” Cerelium says.

Kodi gives him her trade mark smile, but Reign is still glaring at him. I link him to knock it off, but it does no good. Not that I blame him. We are all very overly protective of her and not just because she is the Luna of the pack. I take a deep breath and start to explain what has happened up until now. Once I am finished Yesayrina tells them what her and her brothers know. I can tell that Shanadu is intrigued.

“Our great great great Uncle Redmond had a weird obsession with the dark fey princess. She was the youngest of the two princesses. She was not his mate. Her older sister was, but great great great Uncle Redmond didn’t want her so he rejected her for her younger sister. Him and our great great great great grandfather plotted and somehow tricked the dark fey king to arrange a marriage between his youngest daughter and great great great Uncle Redmond.” Cerelium explained.

“Okay I know that is not all to the story.” I point out.

“No it is not. I did a lot of digging and it turned out that the sisters did some plotting of their own along with the our great great great Uncle Odilyon.” Shanadu says.

All eyes turned to him. I could tell that his sons had no idea what he was talking about. I had heard of this Odilyon. He was next in line to be the king of the merpeople. Kodi was watching them closely and it made me smile. She was completely engrossed in this story. I think she just likes to learn of her heritage.

“Great great great Uncle Odilyon was next in line to be the king and the fated mate of the youngest dark fey princess. He was pissed at his brother and father. Great great great great grandfather was notorious for sleeping around and all his sons had different mothers. He kept a harem of women, which unfortunately at the time was not uncommon. The three of them conspired against the other two. The oldest dark fey princess used her magic to make her appear as her sister while her sister appeared as her. Only Odilyon knew the truth. The rest of the story is true. Great great great Uncle Redmond and the older princess had several children as did Odilyon and his princess. A daughter was born of Redmond and the older princess. When she learned of what her father and grandfather had done she was pissed. She denounced her title and left the kingdom. She returned to the dark fey kingdom years later with her mate and children. This is where Kodi’s hair and eye colour come from. Yesayrina’s great great Uncle Kolthador was from that line and he also had the same hair and eye colour. That hair and eye colour only show up every few generations even in merpeople it is not common. I have no idea where it originated from in our family. The second king of our people had the same hair and eye colour, but no one could say where it came from.” Shanadu explained.

Before I could ask my question Uahi decided to grace us with his presence. Which was strange but not unheard of. Since he is a a giant golden crowned flying fox he is one of the species that is active during the day.

“Holy fuck that is a bat and it is huge.” Vahir exclaims.

“Wow, your knowledge of animals is extraordinary.” Kodi deadpans.

She picks up a piece of pineapple she was eating and hands it to him which he happily takes. Reign sits there like it is the most normal thing in the world. Which honestly it is. Vahir shoots Kodi a scathing look.

“Oohh, someone has an attitude.” Duncan sing songs.

“Oohh, you haven’t seen attitude yet.” Kodi sing songs back.

“Don’t antagonise her. I won’t stop her from kicking your ass.” Reign states.

Vahir closes his mouth before his comment can be said when Kodi gives him a sweet but very sinister smile. Shanadu tells them to behave as Rory and Vance double over laughing. Dani rolls her eyes as she tells them to behave. My daughter sure does know how to handle those two which always makes me laugh.

“Is that why I have such a fascination with water?” Kodi asked.

“Yes, an you are probably able to control it to an extent.” Shanadu told her.

“She can talk to sea animals.” Mauku blurts out.

I pinch the bridge of my nose. I shouldn’t be surprised that he blurted something like that out. He has never been known for his tact. Kodi rolled her eyes while Reign called him a dip shit. A few of the others laugh at him which is nothing out of the ordinary.

“As that idiot put I can somewhat talk with the sea life. I make sure none of them hurt anyone when I am in a surf competition.” Kodi explained.

“You get that from our side of the family. We can all talk with the sea life and control water. Most of us love the water.” Vahir states.

“Well unless you’re Duncan.” Vahir adds.

“Fuck off, it’s not that I don’t like the water. I just don’t like being in it all the fucking time.” Duncan grumbles.

I shake my head at those three. Everyone one seems to be getting along. Cerelium, Vahir, and Duncan are getting along with Rory and Vance way too well. Those five would cause an unimaginable amount of mayhem if they teamed up. Kodi is sitting there watching it all as am I. I turn to Shanadu and apologise for not keeping in contact better, but he tells me not to worry about it. He explains that so much shit has been happening that he decided that it would be better if he cut contact with me. He didn’t want them causing trouble for the pack as a way to get to him or his sons. Understandable, but I tell him that I would have been more than happy to help if he had needed it. The room goes dead silent and that is when I notice that Kodi is gone. Shit, now what? Reign is up and running from the room before I can ask what is going on. I can hear him growling as he runs down the hall. Zhamaxin tells the girls to stay here which I know isn’t going to work. I have no idea what we are going to find when we find Kodi and that has me more concerned than anything.
