The Missing Princess

There has been something hovering in the back of my mind since before Kodi’s Luna ceremony when Raef told me that the weird scent they picked up somewhat reminded him of Kodi. I did ask if their dark fey side would try and look for Kodi or her brothers. Queen Elymyna told us that she isn’t sure. She said that she lost contact with that side of the family after a small family dispute turned bloody. She told us most of the family was killed or if they happened to escape they ran and are in hiding. She said they might look for them, but she wasn’t sure. I have a feeling that whoever has been lurking around the borders is a member or members of that family. Tayhill and one of the newbie trackers went out to where the scent was recently found and it smelled the same, but a little more musky than before. Which makes me wonder if we are dealing with a a set of siblings or a mated pair. I link Mauku to come to my office. His mate Noelani just returned from visiting her family in Southern California.

“You yelled.” Mauku says.

“Shut the fuck up and sit down.” I retort.

“Someone is in a bad mood.” Mauku grumbles.

“Probably because of the massive stick up his ass.” Kodi comments.

I didn’t realise she was following him in. I smack her ass for that comment as she kisses my cheek. She has her bag with her which makes me suspicious. I don’t like it when she leaves our territory, but I will not force her to stay.

“And where is my sexy little Luna off to?” I asked.

“Fern and I are going to the café. I need to get out of here for a bit and he wants to try their coffee. Brandt is coming with us because apparently he has been there before and is addicted to their famous Pot Kulolo.” She answers.

I watch her walk out of the room as Mauku makes a face at us. It has been three days since her Luna ceremony and so far she has taken to the position of Luna easily. I will say that she has a different approach to it and I know a few of the older members aren’t to thrilled with it, but so far any disputes have been quickly and easily resolved. Not that any of the members that aren't thrilled want to challenge her.

“You two are gross.” Mauku states.

“Wow, that’s the pot calling the kettle black. How many times have we caught you and Noelani fucking? Speaking of Noelani, I have a job for her.” I told him.

“And what might this job be?” He asked.

“I believe that the person or persons that have been lurking around the edge of our territory might be the remnants of Kodi’s dark fey family. Raef said that scent was slightly like Kodi’s, but also something else. King Zhamaxin did tell us that fey will have a family scent.” I explained.

“You think they might be her family? That does make sense. Although Kodi does walk around by herself so they have had many opportunities to approach her. Not to mention they could have spoken with her when we are surfing in the mornings. Where does Noelani fit into this?” Mauku states.

“I want the trackers to keep notes of where they pick up the scent and where it is the strongest. I want to send Noelani out there to try and see if she can get them to show themselves. She is the least threatening one of the women. I would send Kodi, but if anyone else is loitering around out there I don’t want them to sense her magic. I updated Eli on all the shit that has happened and I guess a few female vampires went missing to, but they were found near the airport in a building. They were able to trace the assholes to a facility in Central Texas. Some of them were human and some were supernaturals of various species. Whoever is running this ring is damn good at keeping himself hidden.” I answer.

“Noelani won’t come off as threatening and she had no magic. There will be plenty of warriors and a patrol around when this is happening. I don’t think whoever these people are that they are a threat or they would have done something all ready, especially the night of Kodi’s Luna ceremony when we were all distracted.” I added.

“Noelani is still asleep, but when she wakes up I will talk with her. I am sure she will be more than happy to help out. I am surprised you didn’t send a few warriors with Kodi and Fern to the café.” Mauku told me.

“I would but most of them are terrified of her, and in all honesty between her fighting skill and abilities she is more dangerous than all of our warriors combined which is sad.” I admit.

“Our Luna is a bad ass tribrid or is she a hybrid.” Mauku says.

“Technically she is a hybrid. She is fey and witch, even if she has both fey bloodlines in her.” I reply.

As Mauku and I continue to discuss other issues related to the pack there is a knock on the door. Dad, Ino, Kekipi, and Ranu walk in. Right away I know something is wrong. They all have serious looks on their faces. I wait until they are seated before I ask what is going on.

“Okay tell me what the fuck is going on.” I rumble.

“I received a call from the alpha of the pack that I sent Mandy to. He told me that she got there and settled fine with her aunt, but they both disappeared a week ago. He didn’t think anything of it at first because her aunt has family in a pack two hours north of them. He figured they went to visit, but when they didn’t return two days ago he called that alpha and he was told they never arrived. Their pack link is still intact, but where ever they are they are out of range for a mind link to work.” Ranu explained.

“Mandy and her aunt don’t have trackers on their phones so he has no way of tracking them. Her car was found at the airport, but they can’t find any record of them buying tickets.” Ranu added.

“Where would they go?” Ino asked.

“I have no idea. The only family I know she has live in that pack, and from what the alpha told me no one has seen her for years.” Ranu answered.

Fuck, if it is not one thing it is another. Ranu gives me the alpha’s number and I will be calling him later today. They had to of hopped on a plane. Someone helped them leave and knows where they went to. We need to find their accomplish now.

Kodi

I wasn’t happy when I found out that Reign had send Mauku’s mate, Noelani, to try and get whoever is slinking around the edge of our territory. I hadn’t met her yet, and while we met this morning it was brief. When I asked where they were off to Mauku started blubbering and he was acting weird. I was finally able to make Mauku tell me where they were going and what they were up to. Yeah, Reign is going to get his ass kicked.

“So you think someone else can find members of my possible family better than me?” I hiss.

“Jesus, can you not fucking do that.” He huffs.

I roll my eyes as his hands drop from his chest. He grabbed it like he was having a fucking heart attack. Okay, fine, I didn’t use the door and just popped into his office. I knew he wasn’t in a meeting and it isn’t like her was entertaining anyone or I would know about it. I have my arms crossed over my chest waiting for his bullshit reason for not letting me try and make contact.

“That is not the reason that I sent Noelani instead of you. I didn’t want to take the chance that someone else was out there watching and waiting for an opportunity to take you. I will not take the chance that there might be someone out there that can sense your magic. Plus Noelani is less intimidating than you.” Reign explained.

“I am not exactly intimidating either. Its not like I have a wolf or an close to 7’ tall.” I point out.

“Touche, but even if you don’t realise it you do have what most describe as an alpha aura. It is really your royal fey aura, but most can sense it. There have been a couple of times that you let it come out and it damn near dropped me to my knees. I can resist it, which I am guessing is because I am your mate, but others can’t.” He told me.

Well shit, I had no idea about that. No one had mentioned it before. The most anyone has told me is that I have the presence of someone of authority. I never understood why, but knowing what I know now it does make sense. Okay, fine, his reasoning does make sense but even if someone ambushed me it isn’t like they would stand a chance against me. The scream that I let out when Reign grabs my hand pulling on to his lap has him laughing. He is an asshole, granted he is my asshole, but an asshole none the less.

“I know you can handle anything that comes at you, but something has kept them skirting the borders for a couple of weeks now and I am not sure what that might be. I don’t think is anything dangerous or we would have seen or found it, but I will not take a chance with your safety. The rogues showing up are more than likely part of the reason, but there has to be more to it than that and until we know what it is I want you where it is safe. Whether here at the pack house or at the beach, and I only mention the beach because there are hundreds of people there and I don’t think who or whatever it is wants to take a chance and be seen by a huge crowd.” Reign points out.

“Okay, point taken. Wouldn’t they try for Noelani?” I asked.

“I can’t say for sure, but I don’t think so. Beside I have a small army of warriors more or less surrounding her when she is there. I don’t know when and where this will take place, but we are prepared for it. We just need to pick up a fresh scent trail.” He comments.

“I would like to know when that happens.” I told him.

“Of course my little copper flame and my sexy Luna.” He retorts.

I leave his office the way I entered which earns me a rather loud growl. I hear the door to his office slam open then slam shut. Looks like a game of hide and seek or cat and mouse is happening. I teleport to Uncle Aaron's office when another growl rings out.

“Nope don’t involve me in your fucked up little game.” Uncle Aaron states.

Damn he didn’t even look up when I popped up. I leave the office and head outside. I giggle when I hear Reign stomping around the pack house looking for me. I wonder how long it will take him to realise I am not in the pack house looking for you.

-You do realise you can’t hide from me my pretty little Luna.- Reign

-Pretty sure I can. I bet I can out smart the big bad wolf.- Me

-Wolves like the hunt and the chase is our favourite part. Alpha’s even more. I always find my prey.- Reign

-Then find me my big bad alpha.- Me

I take off into the forest. As I get to the edge of the tree line I hear bones snapping. That is fucking cheating and he knows it. Fine you want to play dirty then so can I asshole. I will make him regret the day he wanted to hunt me. I wonder how long he will last running around this whole damn island. I have been leading him around the island for at least an hour not when we get a link.

-We have made contact. There are three of them, Two guys and a girl. They say they are Kodi’s cousins and they have proof. Now what?” Noelani asked.

Well shit, now what indeed.
