Chapter Chapter Thirty- Seven
Walla calmly walked into the village, she let her eyes dart around with hope as she watched the people in the village do as they almost please; harvesting what little they had left in their gardens, going in and out of buildings, steering clear of the brothel, kids playing aimlessly as they make do with what they have.
She doesn’t speak to anyone as she calmly walks up to the hospital, she needed to check on Clarinne, one of the few people that Walla truly cares about. Walla knew she wasn’t prepared to bury a friend.
Walla calmly walked through the hospital, calmly searching the rooms for Clarinne before smiling a little. She saw the brothel owner sitting in bed, wrapped in multiple layers of blankets.
“Walla.” Clarinne smiled.
Walla didn’t say a word as she rushed to her side, she wrapped her arms around Clarinne.
Clarinne kissed the top of Walla’s head.
“What happened?” She carefully sat herself on Clarinne’s bed as the brothel owner studied Walla’s physical injuries.
Clarinne carefully ran her fingers down Walla’s scratch “You’ll look just like the men when that heals.” She ignored Walla’s question.
Walla half heartedly smiled “Are you okay?” She rephrased her question.
Clarinne nodded “Nothing that Crowe can’t fix.” Her eyes drifted down Walla’s neck “At least your alive.”
Walla lowered her gaze for a moment before lifting her eyes to the brothel owner, the two woman knew each other quite well. Not just a woman that entertained her father but a woman that Walla saw as an older sister, a woman that Walla could turn to without embarrassment, a woman that showed Walla there’s more to life than being stuck inside the same ol’ life.
Clarinne let’s her fingers play with the ends of Walla’s hair as the woman distracted herself with the young woman in front of her.
“Do you know where the other girls are?” Walla questioned, hoping Clarinne would answer this time.
“Walla, there is no time for questions. Just let yourself sit here with me. My little angel.” She smiled at the young woman.
Walla smiled a little, she cautiously laid down next to Clarinne. Clarinne wrapped her arms around Walla and smiled.
