The Magic Door

Chapter The Waterfall of Youth

The next day came and Peter and Raine were on the road again and in going to the waterfall of youth first, then the mountains of the dwarves. The walk felt forever as they walked in plane lands as the sky was clear with some birds flying above. Peter heard some running water and splashing sounds like something was jumping out of the water and landed back in the water. The ground was getting wetter and slippery like walking a wet teal floor when it got mopped. Smells of fresh water like the sea - but they are not near the ocean - also a luscious smell of strawberries. Peter looked around for that smell of strawberries till he spotted a strawberry bush. On the bush were a lot of strawberries, Peter walked up to the strawberry bush and picked one strawberry and plucked it in his mouth. He could taste the lusciousness of the strawberry, closing his eyes as he savored the taste. Raine walked up to him and took a strawberry and plucked it into her mouth as she hummed with delight. They took a break from walking and snack on some strawberries, as they can feel their strength gone stronger than before. The sound of running water surrounded them with some birds chirping as it sounded like they were singing a song. Once Peter’s done eating the luscious strawberries while Raine was still eating some more. Peter stood up and dust his pants (he was sitting down on the ground while eating the strawberries) looking at the sound where the water was coming from but his curiosity got to him. Walking to the sound of the water, he saw the beauty of the watercolor. The waterfall was gold and red like the sun was hitting it, but the sun was not near to be seen at the waterfall as trees surrounded it. Looking at the waterfall for it was big, the water below had ripples from the waterfall and rocks underneath the waterfall. Water below was crystal clear, like you can see the bottom of the water. At the bottom of the water there was gold stuff in the water, like crowns, plates, silverware, and other things. There is one thing that caught Peter’s attention was a gold cup with some kind of dark blue liquid in the cup. Peter looks at the golden cup as if it was like calling his name, he leans in a bit more before falling into the water. Peter was holding his breath as he opened his eyes and saw that there was more to the bottom of the water. There is a cave, but not just one, but five caves. Look at each one. Each cave was dark, besides one that was glowing red as he now is looking at the cave. Peter saw something move in the red cave, and got a little scared by the movement. He swam up to the surface, but something wrapped around his left leg. Looking down at he saw a tentacle wrap around his leg and a body that was attached to the tentacle. With one big eye looking at Peter like some prey and Peter trying to get free but no use, he saw two big claws move from underneath its body and start reaching up. The monster pulled its tentacle down a little while one claw was about to grab Peter. Then a bright light came from the right as the monster squealed in pain and let go of Peter and swam back into the red cave. Peter looked over to his right and saw it was the cup. He thought of going up, but he wanted to see what was inside the cup. Swimming over to the cup as he looked inside and saw the dark blue liquid.

‘Peter… our king has returned…’ a singsong voice came from the cup. ‘… our king will be the king once again…’This confused Peter on where that voice is coming from till the dark blue liquid flows inside his chest and glows there before fading slowly while Peter places his hands on his chest. Confused more than he felt somewhat wiser than it was, with a shake of his head he swam back up to the surface. When he appears from the water, Peter swims to the land and pulls himself up before sitting down on the ground. The water from his clothes quickly dried off (from the magic of the water) and his hair with his skin dried up also like he was not in the water.

“Peter! Where are you?” Peter heard Raine’s wobbly voice from behind him.

“I’m over here!” Peter cried out as there were rustles from the trees and there was Raine with a worry and panic look on her face.

“There you are! I have been looking for you. Where have you been?” Raine asked as her voice became calm as he saw he was alright.

“I, um… fall into the waterfall and get caught by this monster, then this dark blue liquid goes inside me and” Raine cuts Peter off as her eyes are wide and her wings perked up.

“YOU were caught by the guardian of the waterfall of youth, and the magic cup chose you?” Raine asked with question and amazement, and Peter nodded.

“Yes, and there was this voice talking to me like some king stuff.” Said Peter as Raine’s eyes widened more and her wings dropped a little. “Do you know what that means Raine?”

“I-I don’t know, but maybe, just maybe, the queen might tell us if she would let you talk to her because you are a human after all.” Raine told Peter as he nodded. “Anyway, we should get going if we want to make it to the mountains before nightfall.”Raine led Peter away from the waterfall as Peter stopped and turned around to look at the waterfall as the gold and red glowed before dimming down. Peter turns back around and follows Raine while she leads him to a dirt path that leads to the mountains. Not too far from Peter and Raine was the same little creature (that Peter saw when he was getting some wood) that had been following them ever since when they first met Peter in the forest.
