The Luna’s Hidden Destiny – Chapter 52
(Mila)
It had been two days since I learned of the possibility that William Rosewood might not be my father. It was weighing heavily on my mind but I tried my best to stay distracted.
I awoke this morning to the sound of Rowan’s phone ringing, his legs tangled with mine as he leaned over, reaching for his cell phone.
He held it up to his ear and pulled me close to him once more.
“Rowan Scott speaking.” I noticed he always answered with his full name, just in case if it was non werewolf related.
Suddenly his eyes flashed to mine.
“Okay, yes..we would rather come right now, to get it over with if that’s okay.” Rowan said, pulling me closer to him as he reached down and kissed my bare shoulder gently.
“Thank you, Dr. Lewis, see you soon.” And with that, he hung up and placed his phone on the nightstand right next to mine.
Rowan looked down at me, his head lowering as he brought his hand to my cheek and pressed a delicate k**s against my lips.
“The results came in this morning Mila, the doctor wants us to come in and open them together.” He spoke gently, his eyes searching mine as I nodded my head.
A deep shuddering breath left me as I tried to calm my nerves. This could change everything..if my dad isn’t the man I thought he was..it will be something I need to learn how to accept.
Rowan placed his other hand on my face, holding me gently as he hovered above me.
“Baby, no matter what it says..you are still Mila Rosewood, you are still the woman I love and the future Luna to this pack. Those things won’t change..we will figure out all the rest as time goes on but that..that is certain.” He looked into my eyes lovingly and I nodded my head. His lips crashed into mine, his hands holding my face firmly in place as he slid his tongue out, tasting me. A soft gasp left me as his touch warmed me, his k**s sending sparks straight to my stomach and mixing with my nerves.
“Let’s take a shower and then go.” He whispered against my now swollen lips.
“Okay..” I spoke softly, my mind racing.
“We are in this together baby…I promise.” He added, pulling me up with him and out of the bed.
After Rowan washed me in the shower we walked into the closet. He watched me closely as I picked a black pair of panties with a matching bra. Next, I grabbed a pair of jeans and a pink oversized sweater. I grabbed my mother’s necklace and slipped it on..I needed all the strength I could get today.
Rowan came up behind me and wrapped his arms around my body, his head resting on my shoulder as he spoke.
“You are so beautiful, baby.” He said while reaching over and kissing my neck.
I turned my head to look at him, my eyes meeting his as I loosened his grip from around me, so I could turn and hug him.
“How did I get so lucky..you are the beautiful one.” It wasn’t just because of his looks either..he had the most beautiful soul I had ever seen.
Looking up at him he wore matching jeans and a light pink hoodie to match my sweater. I couldn’t help but beam..to know he wanted to match with me.
“You look good in pink.” I smiled widely, his eyes flashing as he kissed me passionately one last time before we left.
“Gotta match with my girl.” He winked, the action causing my heart to flutter.
He took my hand swiftly and pulled me into him, his arms wrapping around my waist as we walked towards the elevator.
Once we arrived downstairs Blake, Finn, and Tristan sat there waiting. I wondered for a moment where Genevieve was and felt bad, I hadn’t seen her in the past two days even though Rowan and I stayed in our room most of the time.
“Do you want us to come with you?” Surprisingly Finn asked this, his eyes searching me carefully as I shook my head no.
“No it’s okay please, I want you guys to just relax.” I said softly,
Feeling Rowan tensing beside me.
“We can still do that training later though right Tristan?” I asked, I really wanted to..it would be such a great way to get out some frustration.
“Of course, if that’s okay with you Alpha.” Tristan asked, glancing towards Rowan as Blake laughed.
“Of course she can..she is our Luna for crying out loud…I can’t wait to get my a*s kicked by you.” Blake chimed in, making me chuckle as I smirked at him.
“I have a feeling that will make me feel much, much better.” I joked and Rowan couldn’t help but smile at that.
‘Good girl.’
He said with a laugh in the mind link.
Suddenly Blake lunged forward, pulling me into a quick hug as Rowan growled possessively.
“We are here for you no matter what Mila..you are a part of the family now, whether you like it or not, you are stuck with us.” Blake whispered to me and I couldn’t help but hug him back.
“I think I like being stuck with you guys..the past few weeks have been the best times of my life.” I spoke softly, feeling Rowan tighten his grip on my waist.
Finn’s eyes hadn’t left me once and Tristan was now looking at him.
“Okay Mila, let’s go.” Rowan began pulling me out of the building
“Oh Finn, please tell Genevieve I would like to meet with her when I get back. I would like to apologize.” I said quickly and his eyes widened. He quickly nodded his head and brushed his long black hair back.
“Okay, thanks Mil..” Finn added, the use of my nickname throwing me off. Even Rowan stopped for a moment from surprise.
We walked out of the house hand in hand and went straight to the car..the closer we got to the hospital the tighter my chest felt.
Rowan began tracing small circles on the back of my hand as he held me firmly. Trying to comfort me as we pulled in front of the hospital.
“Ready baby?” He asked carefully and I nodded my head, unsure if I could even speak.
We entered the hospital with Ian close behind and walked towards the front desk. I recognized a few of the nurses and said my hellos as one nurse walked us back toward Dr. Lewis’s office.
After what felt like forever we were finally there, Rowan knocked on the door and Dr. Lewis was there to answer it right away.
“Alpha, Luna, thank you for coming so quickly..I know it has been a long few days having to wait.” He said softly, pointing to a chair for us to sit on as Rowan pulled me into his lap.
“Thank you, doctor..sorry for keeping you so busy these past few weeks.” I felt bad for how often I had needed the doctor’s help so far.
“Luna, please do not apologize, you are the future of this pack and it’s been an honor to serve you. Even though I do wish it were under better circumstances.” Dr. Lewis said with a soft smile as he squeezed my hand gently.
“Well to say thank you I would love for you and your family to join us for the luncheon in two weeks, if you can that is.” I said softly, glancing over at Rowan as he nodded his head in agreement.
The doctor seemed surprised and smiled brightly.
“That would be wonderful, I’m sure Hannah will be over the moon when she hears that.” He let go of my hand and walked to his desk quickly, grabbing a white envelope off of his desk.
“I know this isn’t the best reason to be in my office Luna, but after you find out the results, I think it will be able to give you some clarity. At least be able to show you which path you have to go down.” Dr. Lewis spoke softly, his hands gripping the envelope as he sat down.
I looked over at Rowan, his grip tightening around my waist as I let out a shuddering breath.
“Are you ready?” He asked gently.
I nodded my head, my chest feeling tight from the anticipation of finding out..I felt like we all expected what the results would say..I just didn’t know how I would feel hearing them out loud.
The doctor looked at me one more time and I closed my eyes gently, resting my head against Rowan’s chest. Silence filled the room and the only noise was the sound of Rowan’s heart beating and paper being torn.
“Mila Rosewood, the results show that there is a zero percent chance that William Rosewood is your father. Your DNA shows no relation to the sample given.” The doctor read the letter and my heart shattered. I gripped Rowan’s sweater, the tears threatening to come out as I tried to compose myself.
“I am sorry Luna, I know this must be very hard to hear.” I felt hands on me, trying to comfort me but those feelings, were just too much.
Calypso began to whine, the betrayal and lies I had been told my whole life..who was that man then? Who did I live with my entire life?
Rowan began comforting me, his mouth close to my ear as he began to speak softly.
“Remember you are still Mila, you are still the woman I love..so many people love you and care about you.” He whispered while stroking my hair, his words trying so desperately to ground me.
“Why..why would he do this…I don’t understand.” I managed to choke out.
“I don’t know baby, I have no idea..” Rowan admitted and I knew right then I needed to see that man again. I needed to confront him and ask him why he did this..who he even was..that anger began to rise now.
“Thank you doctor Lewis, I think I need a few minutes to process this.” I said firmly and went to stand. Rowan hesitated but I looked in his eyes.
“Come with me.” I whispered and he nodded, taking my hand as we walked out of the doctor’s office. Rowan said something else to the doctor but I was too numb to hear it.
My whole life was a lie..everything I ever knew..I instinctively reached up, gripping my necklace as I looked down at it.
“I don’t even know if this was really my mother’s..” I quickly pulled it off, not wanting to wear anything that man had given me.
“I’ll hold it for you baby.” Rowan took it from my hand and slipped it into his pocket. I was furious, my anger rising with each second..I needed to vent, I needed to hit something.
“Can we go to the training ring..please?” I asked, looking up at Rowan. He looked at me carefully, his hands holding my waist as he nodded.
“If that is what you would like.” He spoke carefully and I nodded once more.
Yes..that is exactly what I would like.
