The Luna's Hidden Destiny

It had almost been eighteen years since my beloved Natalia and Amelia were tragically taken from me. Their bodies recovered from the fire that was set by that horrible man. The fact that he died with them wasn’t enough to spare me the anguish of what he did. He deserved to rot in a cell and suffer a slow and painful death instead. Alpha Marcus…the man obsessed with my Luna and child. At least I absorbed his territory and saved those people from his horrible reign of terror.

I looked across the table lovingly at my second chance mate Rose, and our fifteen-year-old son Gabe. He looked a lot like me, my dark brown hair and fair skin, his eyes were a deep green. A lot like my own but nothing like sweet Amelia’s. She had the most piercing emerald green eyes I had ever seen. That might be because of her mother’s lineage but it was too painful to think about.

“Oh darling, it looks like Black Stone has found their Luna. They are having a small luncheon to welcome her into the community. Her name is Mila Rosewood, I guess Alpha Rowan has already claimed her as his mate.” Rose said looking down at a lavender-colored invitation.

“Oh, interesting..” I mumbled, looking at my son as he let out a sigh.

“I haven’t seen Laura in months, we should go out that way. Didn’t you need to meet with Vincent about the alliance with Blue Moon anyways?” She asked, her eyes full of excitement.

“Isn’t a luncheon something only for girls?” Gabe g*****d, his fork stabbing into a piece of meat.

“Well, it says here that men are invited as well. It must be a unisex thing..those are trending these days. You should know that son.” Rose said looking over at our son as he just nodded, not interested whatsoever. His eyes pleading me not to make him go.

Rose met my gaze with her soft brown eyes, her hand sweeping back one of her light brown curls as she narrowed her eyes at me. I guess it would be beneficial to go, I did want to meet with Vincent. He had been a friend I acquired fifteen years ago, we met through a mutual friend named Nicolas who was an elder now. He thought it would be beneficial for us to become allies even though we lived five hours away from one another. We have monthly virtual meetings to go over any issues with all of our alliances and I was just in the works to align with Blue Moon Pack as well, considering Alpha Rowan is very close with them.

“When is it?” I asked with a sigh.

“In two weeks it says, all of the preparations and rooms will be taken care of.” She looked down at the invite and glanced back up toward me.

I just nodded my head, looking behind Rose as my Beta and Gamma walked in with their families.

My Beta Pete and his mate Heather had a son, Harry, who was close to the same age as my Amelia, he was like another son to me.

Harry walked up behind Gabe and ruffled his hair, he had such a charisma about him. He had just gotten his wolf this past year, a big one at that.

“How’s it going Gabe?” He said, sliding in next to my son as he grabbed a piece of steak off of his plate.

“I was doing great until you came.” Gabe mumbled. I couldn’t help but smile, the way they interacted was similar to me and Pete when we were kids.

I always thought Harry would be our Alpha, nothing against my own son..he will be a great one. But we always talked about Harry marrying Amelia, even though she was only a few months old at the time. Once we found out we were having a girl it was already in the talks..One of my favorite pictures is of a one-year-old Harry holding my sweet Amelia. Her bright emerald eyes looked up at him and Harry smiled brightly down at her.

Sadness suddenly filled me.

‘Darling, are you okay?’

Rose linked to me, feeling my pain through our bond.

‘Just hard this time of year, you know how it is.’

I linked back and she smiled softly, her own sadness rising as she looked at me.

Rose has been my anchor through all of this, I was a broken man when she found me but over time she slowly pieced me back together.

If it wasn’t for her, I don’t think I would have had the will to live. How I survived my mate and child’s death still baffles me today. In a lot of cases when a mate dies, it can kill the other from a broken heart, the tragedy too great to bare. So I was very lucky to survive…I guess the Moon Goddess had another plan for me.

The gamma and his mate walked in next, his step-daughter Priya sauntered in behind them, she was twenty-two years old. My gamma Cole found his mate just this past year. He never thought it would happen but his mate Valorie was a widow and married before. He didn’t care about her past and was just happy to finally find her even though Priya wasn’t exactly the warmest person. She has been with us for a few months and wasn’t thrilled about having to uproot her life, understandably. But I know how much Cole wanted her to accept him.

“Priya, you should come with us to Black Stone, there is a luncheon to welcome the new Luna.” Rose said to my surprise..she was more on a mission to get Priya to open up than anyone.

“Black Stone? Isn’t that Alpha Rowan’s pack?” Priya asked, reaching for her wine glass.

“Yes, they are holding a special lunch to introduce the new Luna to some of Laura’s friends.” Rose was ecstatic to say the least, the fact that Priya showed any kind of interest was rare.

Priya had black hair and brown eyes, her skin was a Carmel color and she was a pretty athletic girl. She played soccer back in university and actually had a scholarship for it. She looked a lot like her mom Valorie but definitely didn’t inherit her personality. Valorie was soft-spoken and kind, while Priya was opinionated and strong-willed. Which wasn’t a bad thing around here. Surprisingly she took to Gabe the most, treating him like a brother and sticking up for him when Harry would tease him.

“Sure..” Priya said quickly and started eating. We all were stunned, to say the least. Valorie, Heather, and Rose all shared a smile as we continued our meal.

“Well I guess it’s set, we go to Black Stone in two weeks.” I said to the group and they all nodded. I was interested to see who this new Luna would be.
