The Lost Female Alpha

Part 2 Chapter 12 - Diana

My nerves were on edge from the moment Arthur left us alone the previous evening. Elijah held me and kissed me for a while before falling asleep with me in his arms. I on the other hand couldn't get to sleep, I laid there staring at the ceiling for hours until the sun started streaming through the curtains.

That was when I decided that it was useless trying to sleep when my mind was so preocuped. So I decided to do something more productive with my time. Being careful not to wake Elijah, I slipped out of bed and went into the bathroom. Once I had locked the door and I was sure there was nobody coming to distract me, I sat down on the floor and prepared myself for what I had to do. The first time I had tried to take over the minds of another werewolf it hadn't been easy. It had taken many hours to make me feel anything close to normal again but it was early in the morning. Arthur would still be asleep so his control was likely weak in many places.

It didn't take me long to find one of those weak spots and take advantage of it. I managed to gain control over one of the omegas who cleaned the house, using her to retrieve the silver locket that I hid on my way down to breakfast the other day. From there I was able to use her intimate knowledge of the house to locate the water heater and place the necklace inside.

Now all we would have to do was wait. The locket was filled with silverdust which would be infused into the water over time. Every werewolf who took a shower, or even just washed their hands would get some of it on their skin. It wouldn't be enough for them to detect but it would definitely weaken or close off their connection to their wolf.

It would take some time for such a small quantity of silver to take effect. But hopefully it would be enough to weaken Arthur's control over the other werewolves in the pack before our forces arrived later this afternoon.

I still felt awful about the lies I had told my mom the previous evening but I believed that it was necessary. If she told Arthur how soon our forces were going to be here then it would force him to move up his own timeline.

"Diana, are you ok in there?" Elijah called to me through the bathroom door, causing me to lose concentration and let go of my control over the omega. It was a good thing that Arthur was still asleep because if he was conscious then I am sure he would have wondered why a low level omega was venturing so close to his room.

"Fine, just make sure not to use any hot water today."

"What do you mean?" I opened the door to the bathroom to reveal Elijah standing behind it with a puzzled look on his face.

"It probably won't impact our plan to tell you..." I started, but Elijah interrupted me by putting his finger over my lips. He put his arms around my waist and pulled me in for a kiss so passionate that I could feel my whole body heating up in response to his touch.

"It means so much to me that you would trust me, but it isn't worth the risk." He told me before pressing his lips against mine firmly once more.

We stayed like that for a few seconds longer before I reluctantly pulled away from him. Today was the day that we would escape and I had to make sure I was ready early in case our forces arrived earlier than planned.

"I need to take a shower." I said, causing Elijah to look at me as though I had taken leave of my senses.

"Didn't you just say that we couldn't use the water?"

"Shit."

This was exactly why I shouldn't try to be productive before having my morning coffee. It was a good job that Elijah was here to stop me, otherwise I could have just ruined my entire plan. The plan that it had taken Mark and I days to come up with. Elijah might not be with me all day to save me from myself, I had to be more careful.

"Good morning future mate."

Arthur flung open the door to my room and sauntered in as though he was invited. He had a dress bag in one hand and a single red rose in his other hand. I had really hoped that I wasn't going to have to deal with him for a few more hours at least, I guess that was too much to hope for.

"I'm not wearing that dress." I told him in a grumpy drowl.

I couldn't see what the dress looked like under the bag it was in but I knew his dress sense and it was terrible. If he had chosen it then that was all I needed to know to reject the damn thing.

"You can attened our mating ceremony naked if you like. I always wanted a traditional ceramony but I didn't think you would be up for that, you seem so modest." Arthur replied, with a nasty smirk on his face.

He knew that a traditional ceremony was the last thing I would want. Ceremonies used to be conducted under the moon and consummated in front of the whole pack. But that hasn't been done for centuries outside of the few backwards packs that still thought they are living in the dark ages.

For a moment I thought about arguing that point with him. But ultimately it wouldn't have done me any good, he seemed to have a knack of completely ignoring anything that he didn't want to hear. The man wasn't all there, he actually thought he could make me fall in love with him. So instead of retaliating, I tried a different line of attack.

"You're early."

"I thought we could spend the morning getting to know each other. I feel like we got off on the wrong foot."

'Yeah, being held against your will tends to have that kind of a reaction.' Elijah growled over mindlink.

He was struggling to hold his wolf back from slashing Arthur's throat. There was a chance that the spell I had cast on Elijah would have given him some immunity to Arthur's powers. That outcome however was far from guaranteed and if we were wrong Elijah wouldn't leave this room alive.

"Wouldn't it be odd to wear this dress to breakfast?" I asked, clutching at straws.

Arthur shook his head.

"Not at all. You will look beautiful and glamorous for the first time meeting your brother."

My heart started beating faster. I waned to meet my brother but did I really want to meet him today? When the attack happened there was likely to be a lot of confusion, I didn't want him to get caught in the crossfire. Besides, when it came down to it I wasn't sure whos side he would be on. Not that I could say any of this to Arthur.

"I would have thought you would want to spend time with me alone."

I knew the moment that the words left my mouth that I had made a mistake. Desire flared in Arthur's eyes while he observed me in silence for a moment, his eyes raking over my body.

"There will be plenty of time for that later." He told me, his voice husky with desire.

Every cell in my body was screaming at me to retaliate in some way, any way. I had to work hard to push those instincts down. It was clear that I had no choice other than to give him what he wanted. Starting a fight now would be ill advised, I just needed to stall for a little bit more time.

It didn't mean that I had to rush to get ready for breakfast though. After Arthur left to get breakfast ready for us I spent the next hour or so getting ready. Maticulously doing my hair and makeup before finally putting on the white puffy dress that Arthur had picked out for me.

By the time we made it downstairs Arthur was already sitting at the table. Sitting with him was my mom, a teenage boy, and a young girl who couldn't be much older than I was when my mom was taken from me.

They were sitting at the table in silence while being served tray upon tray of food. There didn't seem to be anything wrong with the scene in front of me but that didn't change the deep sense of dread I was feeling in my gut.
