Part 2 Chapter 11 - Elijah
I felt sick. Arthur's men had me tied to the bed with ropes infused with silver. I wasn't strong enough to free myself from the ropes so I had no other option than to watch as Arthur sunk his teeth into my mate's neck. She screamed out in pain and started thrashing her arms and legs wildly against the men who were holding her in place. Arthur and his men let go of Diana then took a couple of steps back before she could punch any of them in the face. She let out a frustrated growl before checking the wound on her neck with her hand. I could already tell that the wound wasn't acting like a normal mark would. There was more blood and it wasn't healing almost instantly in the same way as a mate's mark normally would.
There was a smug smile on Arthur's face when he stepped away from her but as the seconds ticked on, his smile started to falter. At the same time Diana's smile grew wider. The bite on her neck was already healing and there was no sign of a mark being left behind.
"Well, I am impressed. I didn't think you would have worked out how to fully complete the bond." Arthur said.
His eyes darted over towards me for a second then drifted back towards Diana. There was a determination in his eyes when he looked at her that wasn't there a moment ago. A nervous chill went down my spine, I needed to find a way out of these restraints.
"It won't matter in the long run. I know another spell, one that can circumvent your little charm. I didn't work with your mother because I made the mistake of trying to get her to perform it against her will. I won't make that mistake again." Diana shook her head.
"Do you really think that I would ever willingly perform such a spell?" She spat the words at him with such power. I could feel myself getting aroused despite my current position.
"You will perform the spell with me, or you will watch Elijah die slowly and painfully."
"You can't do that." Diana screamed, not even trying to hide the anger she was feeling.
Her eyes had changed colour and her claws were starting to lengthen. She was probably only a few seconds away from shifting into her wolf form and ripping him to pieces. I couldn't blame her for having that reaction but she was ignoring how dangerous he was.
"I can and I will, unless you do exactly as I say. I will give you one day to decide." Arthur didn't give Diana a chance to respond. He finished what he had to say then stormed out of the room, slamming the door so hard that I was surprised it didn't shatter into a million pieces.
Diana stood watching the door for a few moments before starting to pace the room. She was mumbling incoherently to herself as she paced across the room. Every so often she stopped pacing for a moment, only to start back up again. "Are you going to untie these ropes, or are you planning to leave me here all night?" I complained.
"We can't let him get away with this." She replied, not even looking over in my direction.
"No, I am sure you will find a way to make sure he pays for my death." That got her attention, her head snapped over towards me, her face filled with horror.
"That's not going to happen."
She ran over to the bed and climbed on top of me, straddling me. She leaned over me so that her face was only a couple of centimetres away from mine. She looked as though she was going to kiss me rather than scold me. Maybe I didn't need to be untied so urgently after all.
"I am not going to let him kill you, but I need to find a way to keep you alive without giving Arthur what he wants." She told me.
"How are you going to manage that? He seems adamant that you do as he asks."
"Let me worry about that." She said, leaning forward and kissing my neck softly. I knew that she was trying to distract me but at that moment I didn't care. Diana's POV
It was clear by now that the spell had worked. Maybe that meant it would be safe to tell Elijah our plans, but this close to the end I didn't want to take the risk. We had come much too far and put up with much too much to fail at the last hurdle.
They would be here tomorrow to free us and put an end to Arthur's pack. All I had to do was delay him for long enough for them to get here. It sounded easy enough, now I just needed to find a way of making it happen.
I pressed my lips against Elijah's neck and moved my body against his slowly. His wrists and ankles were still bound but he was no longer fighting to be released. In fact, he seemed to be enjoying being under my control. He was letting out soft moans while I kissed him.
I was so distracted that I almost didn't hear the sound of the door to our room being opened. Almost but not quite. I stopped kissing him and turned my head in order to see who was approaching, causing Elijah to groan in frustration. Ignoring him, I looked my mom in her eyes and asked.
"Why are you here?"
"To help you come up with a plan. There will be plenty of time for this later."
My mom rolled her eyes. She may not have been around most of my life but she had perfected the disappointed parent look. I guess that probably had something to do with the brother who I had never met.
I couldn't deny that I was a little jealous of the time they had spent together. My brother had been able to spend his whole life with her while I thought she was dead. My life would have been so different if Arthur hadn't taken her from me. "I can come up with a plan by myself."
My words came out sounding more bitter than I had intended. I wasn't even angry at my mom, I was angry with the man that took her away from me. I got off the bed and opened my mouth to apologise to her but she shook her head. "I know I haven't been there for you but I intend to change that going forward. Please let me help you." She wrapped her arms around me, holding me tightly.
I wanted so badly to trust her and tell her everything about my plan. But trusting people wasn't really in my nature. Even though I didn't think she would betray me, I couldn't rule out Arthur having some kind of magical influence over her. Would she even know if he had? I was only just beginning to understand the powers that I had. Arthur on the other hand had been perfecting his powers for years. He could have done anything to her in the years that he had held her captive.

Also, humans spoke about something called Stockholm syndrome. That was something that could happen after only a few days being held captive and she had been held for years. I had never taken psychology classes but I knew enough about it to know that if she was affected then she probably wouldn't be happy about my plan to kill Arthur. If I was going to tell her what the plan was then I had to be very careful how much I told her. "I already have a plan."
"You know that you can trust me." She replied, still holding me in her arms. I was desperate for that to be true but there was still that voice in the back of my head that told me I couldn't fully trust her.
I pulled away from her and started untying Elijah's restraints to buy me some time. One thing was for sure, I couldn't tell her my real plan. If there was even a small chance that she would be on Arthur's side then it would be too great of a risk. I was not getting stuck in this hell hole for the rest of my life because I had trusted the wrong person.
"I believe her. She has been helping me to hide my thoughts, she wouldn't do that just to betray us." Elijah told me as I untied his wrists, being careful not to let the silver from the ropes come into contact with my skin.
"They will attack in force tonight, at midnight." I told her.
"How do you plan to stop Arthur from taking control over them?"
"Arthur can only take control over werewolves. There won't be a single wolf in our forces."
My mother nodded her head in agreement
"That should work but Arthur's forces are very strong. How are they going to deal with them?"
"Silver weapons. Once their connection to their wolves are severed, I have a feeling that they will no longer wish to fight us." I replied.
Most of what I said had some truth to it but it was far from being the full truth. Hopefully she will be able to forgive me for my little misdirection once I get her back home.
"It sounds as though you have everything under control. I will leave you two to continue what you started."
She winked at me before leaving the room and locking the door behind herself.
