The Lost Female Alpha

Chapter 51

Elijah and I were eating lunch when the alert came through. A large group of werewolves had been spotted heading towards our border and I knew right away that this must be the diversion that Aruther had set up for me. I had hoped that we would have more time together before this happened.

Sensing my apprehension, Elijah wrapped his arms around me. He whispered a few words of reassurance before letting me go and heading out to play his part in our plan. I waited in the kitchen for a couple of minutes, downing what was left of my coffee and taking a couple more bites out of my bagel.

I didn't really have a role in our plan but I was worried that Arthur would try to find me. I couldn't let that happen, it would ruin our whole plan. Arthur would know that I had no intention of coming to meet him if he saw me here. That would put everyone in this pack and all of the vampires that were helping us at risk.

Taking a couple of bottles of water and some snacks with me I went to find a hiding place. I avoided the most obvious places like our office and our bedroom, instead I went straight to the small summer house at the bottom of the garden. In the time I had been here I had only seen this place being used during the party where Mark met his mate so I was sure that nobody would come looking for me here.

The summer house was small, with minimal furnishings. It wasn't really designed for someone to stay here for more than a few minutes and it felt as though I was waiting here for hours. I was itching to get out of here, there was nothing to do and there was a limit to how many cute dog videos I could watch in one sitting.

After a few more minutes of mindlessly scrolling through my phone, I became aware that someone was trying to talk to me. It was almost the same mental nudging that I felt when someone was trying to open a mindlink with me but it was slightly different.

It was probably because the person that was trying to talk to me was Arthur and he wasn't part of my pack. I blocked out the link and tried to think about something other than what was going on and how much danger everyone who I cared about was in. It was a battle that I was never going to win. The more I tried not to think about what was happening, the more I thought about it and the more persistent the nudges in my mind became.

'Just tell that fucker to leave us alone, he is giving me a headache.' Onyx growled.

The connection between Arthur and I was getting strong, I could feel him building the connection between us and pushing me to let him through. It was only a matter of time before he pushed his way into my mind, I had to do something to make sure he didn't get through.

Trying to block Arthur out seemed harder this time. Probably because he was expecting it. He seemed to be able to strengthen the connection between us faster than I was able to take it apart. I could feel myself getting weaker, the strain of trying to shut him out was wearing on me. The last thing that I could remember thinking before my eyes closed was how badly I needed to rest.

When my eyes opened again I was no longer in the summer house. Instead I was in the room that Arthur brought me to when he invaded my dreams. I was in the bed and I was wearing a short silk nightdress. My mind was reeling as I tried to work out if I was dreaming or if he had used his powers to have me brought here.

"Don't look so worried sweetheart. You are still in your pack but I needed to let you know that I was impressed." He was sitting on the bed beside me, he looked into my eyes as he reached out towards me to stroke my hair. The motion of him moving towards me made me flinch but that only made his smile grow wider.

"I didn't expect you to have the guts to pull off a plan like this, it was risky." He told me.

"Maybe you should just give up and stop harassing me." I suggested.

"That is never going to happen, if anything it only proves to me that you will make the perfect mate for me." He replied. Oh well, it was worth a try.

"I will never agree to be your mate, I would kill you first." I replied.

Arthur laughed. There was a moment where I thought he might have lost his mind until the smile dropped from his face and he quickly rolled over so that he was hovering over my body. His hands were either side of shoulders and his face was only inches away from mine. I placed my hands on his chest and tried to push him away but I was too weak in this dream reality to have much of an effect on him.

"One way or another I will make you mine. By this time next week you will be in my bed, begging for me to take you." He purred. It made me wonder if he was really stupid enough to believe this or if it was just something he said to make me feel uncomfortable. His intentions really didn't matter though, I couldn't stand looking at his face any longer. I closed my eyes and tried to mentally block him out.

"You can't get rid of me that easily," he replied.

I knew he was right but I wasn't going to increase his ego by letting him know that. His laughter filled my ears but I kept my eyes closed tightly and tired with everything I had to push him out of my mind.

"I could keep you here for hours." He whispered, in a tone that I was sure was meant to be seductive. His words made me shudder with disgust but I remained focused on freeing my mind from his grasp.

After a few more seconds I felt Arthur's grip on me fading. I could no longer feel the weight of Arthur's body over mine and whatever I was laying on was nowhere near as comfortable as the bed I had been on seconds earlier. There was also something digging into my back and it was aching badly.

My eyes fluttered open slowly and I took in my surroundings. I was back in the summer house, laying on the floor with one of the legs of the coffee table pressing into my back. I couldn't tell how long I had been on the floor like this but it was starting to get dark now and all my muscles were aching. It took me a few seconds to stretch out my muscles and pull myself back onto the sofa.

My mind was still reeling after my encounter with Arthur but a quick glance at my phone told me that I had been in this room for nearly six hours. It also told me that Elijah had spent the last hour trying desperately to reach me. I hoped that meant that he would have some good news to share with me.

'Hello?' I tentatively greeted him over mindlink.

'Where are you? We have been looking everywhere. I thought that Arthur might have found you and taken you away.' He replied, his anxiety was clear in his voice and I was sure that I would pay later for making him worry. 'I am just outside, I will.....'

Elijah cut off our mindlink abruptly. I put my phone in my pocket and stood up, looking up just in time to see Elijah running out of the house. I had never seen him so worried before, he clearly wasn't lying when he told me that he had thought Arthur had taken me.

He ran over to me and pulled me into his arms, holding me so tightly that I could hardly breath let alone speak. He mumbled incoherently about how important I was to him for a few minutes before his heart rate started to reduce and his breathing returned to normal.

"Is everything ok? What happened?" He asked, finally starting to speak slowly enough for me to understand.

"Everything is fine. Arthur tried to infiltrate my mind but I managed to push him out? What about our plan?" I replied.

I hadn't had much time to think about the implication of what had happened to me yet. I have been trying to strengthen my powers but I have only been doing it for a short period or time. Not long enough for me to be able to overpower someone as strong as Arthur. The only other possible explanation was that he was trying to make me think that I had overpowered him, but why would he do that?

"Everything went perfectly. The vampires are already back and your mom is with them." He told me, pushing all other thoughts out of my mind.
