(Book 3) – Chapter 7
It was finally cooling off enough to wear comfy sweatpants outside. I was taking advantage of that by sitting by the training field with Melissa and Parker. I came to do the schedules I took over and listen to some of the new moves the warriors were learning. Melissa came to watch Alistair work out, horny pregnant b***h. Parker had started helping Sandra more, so he was finishing up some paperwork and some releases to send some warriors out as scouts. I am pretty sure he was also watching his warrior boyfriend. I was surrounded by horny bitches, and I was no better so we were all going down together. The twins were running the session this afternoon and if I wasn’t already pregnant I would be getting there right now.
“I think we should just have the babies at the same time, in the same room, and even have the same doctor. They can catch multiple babies, right?” Melissa teased as she pretended to flip through her parenting magazine.
“As soon as you actually read up on giving birth to a shifter baby you will want your own room. Usually it is a wolf having a wolf pup so the size works out. I am worried for your girlie parts.” I had to bite down on my l*p to keep from laughing at her look of worry.
“Shit….I am going to kill him!” She growled, giving Alistair the death stare.
“Who are we killing?” Natalie asked as she sat down on the grass in front of us. She made sure to keep her eyes on me and I could see the hostility in them.
“So anything you want to discuss with us?” Parker kept eyeballing the distance between Natalie and us girls like he thought she might attack us like a predator.
“Yup.” She nodded never wavering in her eyes being locked on mine.
“OK, what about?” Melissa crossed her arms and sat up taller. I knew she was nervous and pissed.
Natalie didn’t reply. She stayed how she was. I tilted my head side to side studying her body language and seeing if any hints would pop out telling me what she had planned. She was giving off nothing but anger. I looked behind her and saw the twins with Alistair staring at us.
‘Don’t come over here just yet.’ I linked them.
“Nothing to say to me, Ryder? Or should I say Princess Ryder?” Natalie sneered at me. She was pushing the wrong buttons today.
I just lost it and started laughing. I laughed so hard I peed myself a little. Parker and Melissa started laughing with me. I could see Natalie getting even more enraged when she jumped up and stomped her foot.
“What the hell are you laughing at? You think me getting pissed off for the crap you are pulling!” Parker jumped up and got between us. He told her to step back. He didn’t care who she used to be to us when it came to protecting us. The guys walked closer and by this time all the warriors were staring. I knew they all would kill her if just asked but I didn’t want her dead. She just didn’t have the same loyalties and trust in our way of life. Her parents were s**t examples of that.
“Natalie… You have been part of the Fab four since elementary school after you kicked James Zanders in the nuts for calling Parker an ugly fart head,” I reminisced, thinking of the good times. “We grew up together and that is probably what hurts the most about all of this. How did you have so little faith in us and our friendship that once we had s**t to do in our lives that didn’t revolve around our friendship you thought we dropped you like flies and that you meant nothing to us? I don’t understand this thinking. And to top it off you said you understood the mate bond and would never do anything to hurt that for someone. What made you change your mind on all of that?”
“Oh, cut the s**t!” She shouted a few choice words that I ignored. “Loyalty means being there when someone needs you. It means having that person back no matter what they have done. Are you going to have my back know that you know where I am going when I leave packland?”
‘She must think we have already talked to the tracker. Just go with it, Ryder. We will meet with the one she must have spotted after all of this,’ Blue linked. She was focusing on the surrounding wolves’ feelings to see if any of them were with Natalie. We are sick of traitors.
“That is not what loyalty is. That is being attached at the h*p like a damn baby.” Parker rolled his eyes. “Loyalty is supporting one another and being on your side. If you are wrong or going to get us killed we would not stand by your side but explain to you why it is not going to work out.”
Melissa waddled up beside me and put her elbow on my shoulder and laughed at Natalie. “The girl who is pretending to date a 17-year-old to get ahold of the schedules for an unknown reason is talking about loyalty. The girl who has blown us off the whole time we have been back even when we tried to apologize even though we did nothing wrong is talking about being there for each other. Absolutely ludicrous.”
I put my hand on Melissa’s and smiled at her. I knew she was a wreck on the inside with all of this. She was the one that was a bit closer to Natalie, since she stayed at Mel’s house more often than ours. It was hard on all of us, but this couldn’t continue and I knew she was just wanting to either win with us groveling or a big fight where we looked like asses.
“Natalie, I love you.” I walked over to her and pulled her into a hug. Her body tensed up but I just kept squeezing her tight. “You mean the world to me and I was so excited for you to help raise these kiddos. Hell, whenever you had kids they could all play. I had it planned out…but n…n..” I couldn’t even get it out. The tears were swarming my face and I felt like my chest was going to explode.
“Its ok, Ryder. We all know what you are saying.” Knox whispered as he walked up behind me to put his hand on the middle of my back.
“No, its not. Go on and tell me what you were going to say,” Natalie lashed out. She took a leap at me but Alistair had already grabbed on to her arms. She ended up falling to her knees growling like a rabid dog.
“Nat…t..alie. You are no longer welcome on these pack lands,” I cry out. “You are not part of this pack nor will you have any contact with anyone from here. Anything you do that could hurt one of us will end up in your death. We know you are a traitor already and I know we should kill you but…. I can’t. This is your last chance.”
Knox pulled me into his arms and held me as I let it all out. I barely even heard Natalie when Alistair handed her off to a few warriors who were going to watch as she packed her s**t and left.
“You will regret the way I was treated one day. Watch your back and everyone else’s.”
