The Last Royal Luna

“How is she?” I asked Heath as I joined them in the woods. “Is she going to be ready for Richard?”

“You know I can hear you, right?” Teased Kailey while stretching her muscles out. “The woods bring me peace and once I am done here I will solely be focused on kicking some traitor a*s.”

“It went well. It only took about an hour before what everyone was saying sunk in and she realized she was fine.” Heath shrugged keeping his eyes on Kailey and a few of her more sexy parts.

“What happens if I lose?” She had stopped stretching and turned to face me when asking this. “I just submit when my wolf and I can’t take anymore and then you have to take him on the next day? Yours is to the death?”

They both looked concerned, but I wasn’t that worried. I had a few friends and family looking up loopholes so I could either boil him alive with his b***d or turn the grass into the sharpest knifes to cut into every body part that touches the ground. I didn’t care either way as long as it hurt him.

“Hey, Ryder. Let these guys head to the field while you take on Sandra’s part in the battle,” Andrew said reminding me that I was acting Alpha until Sandra or Samuel was able to come back from having their baby. Damn it.

“Yeah, Yeah. Let’s go.” I waved at Kailey and Heath before putting my arm through Andrews. “Let’s do this and get it over with. Ugh dang responsibilities.”

Andrew just laughed at me and took me to the podium to take the Alpha seat while he sat in the Luna chair. I couldn’t help but giggle since it was made for a petite woman. Sandra hadn’t even thought to change it out until Samuel sat in it earlier and barely made it out. I think laughing so hard at him fighting to get out of the chair was what sent her into labor.

“Looks like I picked the right outfit to wear since I get to entertain the Alpha.” Blake cooed at me as he pulled up the beta chair. “Mom and Pops are taking the evening off. Seeing Richard and how much he has changed has really hit them hard.”

“I want to know why you got a normal chair and I got this one that looks like lace and roses is going to eat me alive?” Andrew complained, causing us to fall into a fit of laughter for a second time.

“I am too manly for that.” Blake rolled his eyes before looking back at me. “How are you feeling about all of this? Kailey facing Richard who looks like he was juiced up by evil black goo and a chance you have to deal with him. I hate it and my wolf is on edge so I will be overprotective for a while.”

“Will be? Don’t you mean already are?” I scoffed at his denial. “I hope with everything Kailey can beat him or at least show us a weakness we can use against him. As long as he doesn’t try to permanently hurt her or kill her this fight is a win in my book. Kailey is strong and is going to continue to grow stronger and this fight is going to help her do that.”

Both of them g*****d already knowing I had taken Kailey under my wing like my little sisters except I didn’t need anyone to adopt her. I knew I shouldn’t since she was suppose to be my champion and she would probably die before me but I am not that person who can keep people I am around all the time at an arms length.

“Richard is on his way with Asher, Edgar, and Knox,” Blake informed me. “Asher says Richard is extremely calm which is putting his wolf on edge. You ready?”

“Nope but let’s do this.”

‘Bring Kailey this way. I want her in the circle before Richard gets here so she is mentally ready.’ I linked Heath.

‘Blue, what are your thoughts?’ I could feel her pacing back and forth.

‘Kailey won’t win but she will get a few good licks win. I am worried about those black veins he has bulging all over his body and I noticed a few small tattoos that looked like something from a witch’s grimoire. What if he has powers?’ She looked worried about the powers part the most.

‘If he does he got them from a dark witch so we need some of our witches to see what they can do to cancel those out. Maybe do some barrier spells on the fighting circle that wipes his out once we walk through?’

She nodded in agreement so I added talking to my Mom and Melissa about it. I know half the witches went to different ally packs and a few other packs who were trying to stay neutral for now since they were so small but we still had more than enough to cover all of the people here.

Kailey walked into the circle with her shoulders back and her face blank. Her freckles on her face are the only thing that still made her look like a little girl and now a bad a*s warrior. She kept her face forward ignoring the noisy crowd were either behind her all the way and others yelling that she needs to submit sooner rather than later so she doesn’t get hurt. Ugh, haters gonna hate. She will prove them wrong.

“ARE YOU f*****g KIDDING ME? PITTING ME AGAINST THIS PATHETIC b***h? HA HA HA..HA..” Richard laughed almost falling over as Asher pushed him into the circle. “its like you want me to kill you and this piece of trash. I think you should pick someone else.”

Heath and my mates growled but I kept my cool since Kailey was able to do so. “Let’s get this started so I can see Richard bleed..I mean lets fight a fair fight until one of you submits. No one is to die or be attacked after one of you submits. I will kill who ever breaks those rules.”

Richard rolled his eyes and trained them on Kailey. “I hope you made all your future plans to happen from the safety of a hospital bed or wheelchair.”

“Remember the rules and you both get out of this alive…Now let the fight begin.” I sent out good vibes to Kailey before sitting back down.

Richard stood there with his eyes burning into Kailey’s before stretching his arms like the fight hadn’t started. I heard the murmurs of upset from the crowd. I was with them on not believing this total lack of respect of Kailey’s abilities. She was the only one not bothered with it. Her face remained blank as she moved to circle him. She stayed just far enough away he would actually have to move to grab her, smart.

“I can’t believe your parents would let Ryder choose you to die before she dies. I had more respect for them than that.” Richard shook his head like he was actually upset. Kailey just ignored the words coming from him and kept checking for any noticeable weaknesses.

‘Ryder, my wolf is urging me to admit something in case Richard goes rogue in this fight,’ Kailey linked surprising the s**t out of me.

‘Do it quickly so all your attention stays on that a*s hat.”

“Heath is such a great guy and I am so glad you introduced us….Especially since he is our mate.’

I yelled inside my head and did a brain happy dance. ‘You will make it out alive and get even closer to him. His birthday is in one month and then you can be together! Now focus and fight.’

She laughed through the bond and shut our link down. I smiled at the guys before focusing back on what Kailey was doing. She had sped up a bit as she continued to circle him. He had just finished stretching his legs and now start to run in place like he was warming up his body to work out. I blinked and saw a small smile on his face instantly getting a horrible feeling in my stomach.

Kailey ran at him with her back bent and rammed him but he only slide an inch or two. He laughed at her as he grabbed her by her waist, picked her up over his head, and tossed her to the edge of the circle. I never want to hear the sound of her body hitting the ground again. I thought it would kill her but she just g*****d out in pain before shifting to her wolf to help heal her.

“Goodie, we have arrived at the best part.” Richard teased shifting into his wolf. He was so much bigger than he had been and now he was pitch black with greasy fur and a smell of decay. He looked rabid and even had some foam around his mouth.

He ran at her just as she had gotten to her feet and turned to face him. He didn’t even have to leap in the air before he had her throat in his mouth. She did get a few bites in causing one of the black veins to burst. She instantly let go and started whining in pain. She bared her throat, but Richard didn’t let go. She kept wiggling, whining, and baring her throat with Richard’s mouth on it. She was hurting. I needed to get to her.

Before I could get up Andrew and Blake had rushed forward getting up close and personal with Richard’s wolf. They were yelling at him to let go or it was his life we would be taking.

“If your mouth doesn’t let her go I will boil your b***d until it bursts from your body just like I did your pack.” I announced loud enough for all the hear.

He let go and shifted back. He stayed naked smirking down at Kailey before blowing me a k**s. Andrew ran forward punching Richard hard enough he blacked out and fell to the ground.

“Richard won this fight. I will be battling him tomorrow. Get some rest and keep your eyes open.” I told the pack before heading down to Kailey who hadn’t shifted back yet. I saw the doctor running our way and Heath had already made it to her side. Richard was going to die tomorrow and I was going to make it as slow as possible.
