(Book 2) – Chapter 37
I dropped the Luna making her gasp for breath on her hands and knees. “This the is the position you will be in as your eldest kills your traitor of a husband. Your fate is yet decided but it will not be freedom or pleasant.” I growled. I looked at the Beta to decide what his place was but he was missing. “Find me the Beta and Diamond NOW!”
Warriors leapt into action running in all directions to find them. Knox and Kane decided to help since their specialty was finding wolves who didn’t want found. It didn’t take long to find them trying to leave the pack lands by car with half their stuff shoved in the trunk. They wouldn’t say why they were together except that the Beta was loyal to Zach’s family.
I had them on their knees beside the Luna on the porch while Leif got ready for the fight. I told the Alpha if he had any last minute items he needed to take care of he should do that. He laughed at me and told me he wasn’t fighting just yet. His son could die another day.
The Alpha wanted to wait till the next day for the challenge but we already knew what was going to happen at midnight tonight and I planned on leadership changing hands within the next hour to give us time to make a plan to kick some vampire a*s. I called Alistair to see how long it would take for them to get back but they said they were thirty minutes out. Charles contacted them and they decided we needed them more. Two of the witches decided to join us in the fight tonight. They needed some revenge after one of the covens killed their little sister. I understood that and welcomed them. I had Edgar call Charles and let him know we didn’t need someone on the inside since we planned on killing all of them. Charles needed to make a few phone calls so he would speak to us when he got here.
All together in both clans there twenty-five vampires and they had about four dark witches on their side. Now you don’t think that is a lot but when you subtract the children, the elderly, the wolves who couldn’t find for medical reasons, and the ones not trained to fight you went way down from two hundred. We ended up with fifty-eight including us who could fight tonight. This pack must be like bunny rabbits because a lot of women were pregnant. I saw my mates eye them with wanting eyes but I knew they understood why not. As soon as this war was over we can talk about it again and hopefully have a few kiddos. They almost were dads if their sister didn’t agree to take in Dexter. He was the sweetest and I just wanted to cuddle with him while watching kid shows all day.
“Ok, lets do this. Alpha Zach are you ready?” I didn’t give him time to respond knowing he would say no. “Leif are you ready?” He nodded yes. “It is a fight to the death. The winner becoming Alpha of this pack. Be strong and true. Don’t be a coward and cheat. You can attack anytime you wish.”
I stood with my mates beside me and behind me. I had the Alpha’s family and his Beta on their knees in front of us. I could hear them complaining about how their knees hurt or how this was disrespectful for someone of their stature. Like I could care about the pain they were feeling. I did nothing compared to the happiness I felt when I saw a pack member smile at them or us for making them be on their knees like the submissives they should be.
