The Last Royal Luna

(Book 2) – Chapter 38

They both stayed in human form and circled one another. Leif threw out a few test jabs seeing how quick his father’s response time was and how well his defense was. Zach is pretty quick for being in his mid-fifties, but he had a few weaknesses he was showing as he used too much of his power when throwing his punches. You could tell he wanted this over as soon as possible.

“I raised a b***h for a son. Maybe I should just let your sister fight you. She would win just like I would.” Zach growled out. I bristled at that insult toward women and toward Leif.

“Do you ever shut up?” Leif growled before decking his father hard enough his head twisted to the side. I bet that hurt.

“You’re a disgrace. Killing you is doing you a favor.”

“Who is the one who made deals with vampires?” He punched his dad in the gut. “With Witches?” He grabbed his head and shoved it into his knee breaking the Alpha’s nose. “Against what is best for the pack?” He shoved him backwards with the Alpha landing on

his back on the ground.

The Alpha slowly got up unsteadily before charging at Leif. “I should of killed you when you were born.”

Leif had finally had enough and lost it. He shifted mid air before all we could saw was his teeth flashing and claws ripping into his father. At first, I thought the Alpha would shift but he didn’t have enough time between Leif losing it and him being on him. The Alpha tried to fight back as a human but it was like Leif was possessed or sick of the way he and the pack had been treated. Leif’s wolf stepped back from the body and howled. The pack howled with him as their new Alpha, and we joined in as well. I could feel the former Luna crying along with her daughter.

Zach’s body was in pieces and it was that moment I was glad I sent the younger kids inside. “Alpha Leif I need four of your warriors to keep an eye on the former Luna and her daughter. We also need to clean up this mess before I tell you all some important information. The first two things need to happen as quick as possible, please.” Leif nodded and pointed out four warriors to come over to the women on their knees in front of me. He, himself, started picking up the pieces of Zach and walked them to the burning grounds. Blake and Knox started helping Leif as the others stayed with me.

I grabbed a few of the women sending them inside to keep watch over the kids who had fallen asleep during the movie. They had made pallets on the floor so it wasn’t as hard. It was so cute and reminded me of my sleep overs with friends. The women didn’t question why I wanted extra protection which was good because I would of lied. This was a just in case the vampires showed up early and got a jump on the kids. I know they were only suppose to take myself and my people out but they sounded like a bunch of double crossing jerk offs so I preferred to cover my bases.

It didn’t take long for the tasks to get done with more than half the pack helping out where they could. I know that some of them were off sulking about Zach being killed and now Leif being the Alpha but it just means they didn’t have the same beliefs that most wolves did. It wasn’t all about power however you could get it. It was about the power you got yourself from hard work, the right allies, and always improving yourself. At least that is what I believed and I just had to hope most of the Alphas around the world did, too.

“Congratulations, Alpha Leif. Long may you rule with all the love and strength you can muster.” He nodded with a tired smile. “I don’t want to keep adding on bad news but your former Alpha and Luna put a hit out on myself and my mates with the vampires. That is the main reason we are right on the pack land line and why he had you all doubling up your shifts on every area but ours. A vampire friend of mine overheard a member of one of the clans and they plan on attacking tonight.”

The pack started talking and freaking out. I get why they were but I wanted all the information out so we could make a plan to kick some a*s while keeping most of us safe. I looked at Leif and gestured with my hands for him to get them to listen.

Leif howled pushing some of his new Alpha power into it and everyone stopped talking . They looked up at us and waited. That is a great sign of a leader. He used the right amount of power to gain control but not to push his people too far. Asher gave him a high five and they both smiled. I can see this is the beginning of a beautiful relationship for us.

“I have a plan to take all the vampires out and to keep you all safe. Everyone who can’t fight needs to get down to the shelters and plan to stay there all night. I need a few to WALK home and bring back what you need. It needs to be minimal like you are just getting your purse or you are staying the night at a friends. The others need to head inside and go down with the kids to the shelter there. The ones who can fight I need you to pick a house, I don’t care whose it is, and go inside like you live there and are inside for the night. Keep the patrols the way they are. Someone needs to let them know what is going on. My mates and I are fighting with you. I have a vampire, witch, and my Beta coming as well. I need about six warriors at the jail cells with our three prisoners. Let’s take these guys out and then figure out the punishment.” I nodded saying go now and everyone started moving. I am glad they are good listeners.

“I will go with the warriors to take my family down to the cells. I want to make sure the locks work properly.” Leif announced grabbing the old Beta’s arm and pulling him up to stand.

‘What is it really you are after?’ I linked him. I could see the surprise in his eyes but the rest of his mask stayed in place.

‘I don’t know who all was with my family on their betrayal. I want to watch these warriors and check the cells just to make myself feel better.’

‘Good idea. But hurry. We need you here.’ He nodded and pulled the Beta toward the cells.
