Chapter Ember Moon
Henry woke me up when we arrived to the house. "Welcome home to Nether Plantation. Come, let me show you inside, Princess."
It was a plantation. Somewhere in the south. Fully operational plantation. It was night time and the slaves were working. You could see overseers with whips dripping with profane and wolfsbane. The shifters wore sliver bands so they couldn't shift and were weaker. The vampire slaves looked like they were beyond dehydrated from blood intake. It was the worst site I could even imagine. This man was more than a monster anyone could imagine.
He took me on a tour inside. The entryway was what you'd expect of the time period of the home. Stairs with a French balcony even. Large sitting room to the left. What I believe was an office to the right. Further in there was what was now a living room with a tv and some guards watching some provocative things while some female slaves did their bidding. He kept me going and to show me the kitchen. It was huge and, as you'd expect, had many slaves worling hard prepping a meal.
"Come, let's go upstairs. To the right is mainly my quarters and some of my top men who stay in the house. To the left is your quarters." He pointed to the large doors at the end of a hall, but stopped to a door nearby instead and knocked before entering.
"Grandpapa! You are home! Is this her?" A small boy jumped up, running to him with a huge smile.
"Yes, son. This is Mommy." Fuck. He was supposed to be with Rashelle and her mate Caroline. They took him for me. Promised to raise him and give him a home in the pack they were heading to. How did he even know about my baby. "I will answer questions later, Azula. For now, get acquainted with your son." He said to me passing the small child over to me.
He clung to me, "I'm so happy you came home! Grandpapa said you will soon! He is always right about these things!"
"It is nice to meet you. What is your name?" I said, trying my hardest to smile instead of showing my sadness.
"Grandpapa said you were to name me when you came. He just calls me prince, boy, and son. So, what is my name, Mommy?" He asked excitedly. I knew what I had wanted to name him but never felt as if he was mine so I never even told anyone. Rashelle and Caroline asked me but I told them to take him and leave and never look back without agreeing to one.
"I wanted to name you, Koray. It means Ember moon. It makes me think of the moon the day you were born. I just didn't feel you were mine. Ever. I'm sorry baby." I say frowning at him while setting him down.
"It's okay, Mommy. Grandpapa said you just weren't ready and took care of me. Now, you are here and you're ready! I like my name. Koray." The boy just is so innocent. It breaks my heart. "Tell me about your adventures, Mommy!"
"Koray, can you keep a secret?" Little boys love secrets.
"Of course! I keep a lot of secrets. Lots of people keep secrets from Grandpapa but tell me. I keep them well. He even tells me secrets sometimes." He keeps smiling.
"Do you think you'd ever want to leave here?" I ask, now knowing I have to adjust my plans.
"You mean, I can go on adventures with you? Grandpapa said you were coming home for good." He whispers back.
"Yes, it will be an adventure but, we would be gone for a really long time. It wouldn't just be us though. We can take some of your friends and you can meet my friends. Your uncles and my mate would love to meet you. You have another grandfather as well who is dieing to meet you." I know some of that is a lie but I thought this way he would be on bored with my plan.
"Can Grandpapa come too?" He asks excitedly.
"No, Grandpapa will be staying here." I like, he will be dead but I would make sure my son won't see that.
"I would miss him, but I love adventures! Can I bring my toys?"
"Some not all. But here's the secret, Grandpapa can't know. It's a surprise. So if you bring too many things, he would notice. It would need to be just a few whatever fits inside a backpack you can carry, okay. Too many things makes it hard to travel for our adventure." I say.
"Okay! Yeah! This will be fun! When will we leave?" He asks.
"Soon, baby. I promise. Why don't you show me some of your toys and what you like to do." I say smiling. As he goes through everything, I try to think of my plan. I'm a little far for normal mind linking but Ryanne may hear me if he gets close enough. I attempt to mind link him, but it doesn't work. I will have to keep trying.
There's a knock and Henry enters. "Dinner is served, my loves. After dinner, Azula, will you meet me in my study. We can talk then."
Dinner goes by fast. The vampires drink blood, which smells human, from wine glasses. The rest of us at the table have steaks. Thankfully, Koray doesn't drink blood like them. He won't need it till he is ten if he does get the vampire side seeing he is more wolf than anything due to Theo. After dinner is over, a woman who apparently is the nanny of my son takes him to get some energy out before bed. I follow Henry into the office.
"So, I know you have a lot of questions. Those two women, they gave him to me. They worked for me to follow you and saw you were pregnant and took the opportunity. They are not dead. They did a good job. You tried to give an innocent baby to strangers. I have raised him for you. I have been looking for you, for him. As you can tell, age is affecting me now. I'm dying. My loves all are gone. You and my grandson are all l that I have left. This home, this clan, I don't know who will take it after I am gone. May be a few years, but I am sure we will be able to make the time worth it." He says with a smirk. "Your father took you from me, thinking he was hiding you. I have been trying to get you back since you were 10. After you ran away from your pack, I blamed your father for not caring for you right. So, made him think I believed you were still there and I wanted you back. I got you now. You are smart enough to come where you belong."
"I don't even know what to say. I was young and scared. I wasn't ready to be a mother and especially to a child that was made from a terrible experience. The father raped me. He was better off not in my life. If I had him with me, I would have had to deal with pain instead of growing stronger. He looks so much like him and it scares me. You should have left my pack alone. You don't know everything you think you know." I say with anger, but trying to watch my words still.
