Chapter 126
Chapter 126 Could We Have Been Mistaken
After receiving a response from Matthew, Jeremy descended from upstairs.
Upon hearing the housekeeper greet Jeremy, the three members of the Leedon family instantly turned their attention to Jeremy.
In front of Jeremy, the trio seemed slightly less imposing, especially Benjamin.
Benjamin was only a couple of years younger than Jeremy, so they were practically peers. Yet, in Jeremy’s presence, he always felt somewhat inferior.
“Mr. Gardner, we’ve come here today to discuss the matter between you and Auri,” said Gideon.
Having just taken his seat, Jeremy, upon hearing that, showed a slight hint of surprise. “My matter with Aurelia?” I only met her once before. Il hat matter is he talking about?
“Yes, we’ve already found out about Aurelia being your secret lover. We weren’t aware of this before. Aurelia was afraid of our reproach, so she intentionally hid it from us,” Benjamin hastily said.
Gideon nodded. “Our family has strict principles. We don’t condone our family members causing harm to others‘ relationships. Auri really didn’t understand the gravity of her actions. However, it takes two to tango, so I assume you also actively pursued Auri, Mr. Gardner.”
“Auri has always been obedient and sensible. I’m sure she must feel guilty being with you,” said Luna.
Upon understanding what was going on, Jeremy scowled. No wonder Matthew said that the Leedon family is not Aurelia’s family, and there’s no need to show them any respect. I see why now. Did they misunderstand Aurelia’s relationship with me? I’m curious what their goal is.
“State your intentions.” Jeremy’s voice was icy cold.
The three of them exchanged glances because they noticed Jeremy’s indifferent attitude toward them.
Though they felt anxious, they felt it was still worth giving it a shot.
Gideon began to speak. “We have agreed to let Aurelia be with you, but we hope that you can help our Leedon family overcome this difficult time.”
“Helping the Leedon family is essentially helping yourself,” Benjamin said.
Upon realizing the situation, Jeremy stood up, his expression frosty. “You’ve got it all wrong. There’s no relationship between Aurelia and me.”
Upon seeing that, Benjamin immediately pulled out his phone and showed Jeremy the photos that Spencer had taken earlier. “There’s photographic evidence that proves your relationship with Aurelia.”
Upon glancing at the photograph, Jeremy recognized it as a scene from yesterday’s lunch at the restaurant when he dined with Aurelia.
He didn’t expect someone took a photo of them.
What was even more unexpected to him was that the Leedon family intended to sell Aurelia.

to be persistent and bothersome, be prepared for the Gardner family’s legal team to visit you. Is your family prepared for the consequences of attempting to tarnish my reputation?” Jeremy asked, his face devoid of any emotion. No wonder Aurelia didn’t acknowledge them as her family. They’re a pack of ambitious
wolves with no conscience.
The trio was taken aback, especially Gideon and Benjamin.
The two didn’t expect Jeremy would be so resolute.
They had anticipated that Jeremy wouldn’t easily help them, but they didn’t expect him to deny his relationship with Aurelia completely, even going so far as to threaten them with legal action!
The tables had turned.
“One cannot falsify the truth, Mr. Gardner. If Aurelia isn’t your kept woman, how could she have possibly joined Old Mr. Gardner’s team? Your words might’ve been able to deceive others, but they certainly can’t fool us!” Luna spoke anxiously.
Upon hearing Luna question Aurelia’s capabilities and slander his father’s criteria for hiring people, Jeremy was infuriated.
“Now, you’re slandering my father? The Leedon family sure is bold. Have you ever heard of our family in Jacaster?” Jeremy asked.
is
At the same time, he typed a message to Matthew: The Leedon family is really something else. They think Aurelia my kept woman, and they want Aurelia to continue being with me to save their own company. They even claimed that Aurelia joined my father’s team because of me. How blind can they be?
Benjamin’s expression abruptly changed, and he started doubting his assumption. Could we have been mistaken about this? Maybe it really is not him? We have picture evidence, though, so it should be real.
“Perhaps you have some reservations. Are you worried that your fiancée might find out? We won’t publicize this matter. After all, it affects the reputation of the Leedon family as well. Our demands are simple. As long as you assist our Leedon family, we will ensure that Aurelia stays peacefully by your side without disturbing your family.” Benjamin gritted his teeth, making his intentions clearer.
In his perspective, he thought it would be an honor for Aurelia to contribute even a little to their family.
However, Luna disagreed with how Benjamin phrased it and frowned because that made Aurelia sound like she was merely a tool of the Leedon family.
Jeremy found the Leedon family to be a joke. They don’t treat their own daughter well, pushing her onto someone else as a mistress, and then have the audacity to question her capabilities. They may as well be her enemies.
“Give our lawyer a call. Mr. Connelly will do,” Jeremy instructed his housekeeper.
The housekeeper promptly made a phone call.
Jeremy’s unwavering stance, as though he had nothing to consider, irritated Gideon. The latter spat, “Aren’t you afraid that Aurelia will see your true colors? You’ve shown no respect to her parents. She will undoubtedly be angry.”
“If word of your affair reaches the outside world or your fiancée, you should be well aware of the consequences,” Luna threatened.

They absolutely needed help that day.
The worst–case scenario would be their family having a thorough fallout with Jeremy and Jeremy abandoning Aurelia.
Finished.
“Mr. Gardner, Mr. Connelly said he’ll be here in five minutes,” the housekeeper relayed promptly after hanging up the phone.
Gideon and Luna remained unconvinced, belies ng that Jeremy was simply afraid his relationship with Aurelia would come to light.
They still believed Jeremy was bluffing, but Benjamin thought otherwise.
Benjamin’s expression changed. Could we have made a mistake? If he’s calling a lawyer over, this means things are getting serious.
Jeremy glanced at his watch, then pulled out his phone to chat with Matthew,
Decisively, Matthew typed: Since when did you become so patient? Has the Gardner family turned into a wimp with you in charge? When your elder brother comes back, he may be too embarrassed to even step outside.
Jeremy was instantly enraged. It was clear that Matthew still had his usual knack for infuriating others.
Jeremy replied: Can Aurelia handle this fiery temper of yours?
Matthew: You don’t need to worry about that.
Jeremy sent him an eye–rolling emoji.
Meanwhile, Dylan Connelly arrived.
Before entering. Dylan learned about the situation from the housekeeper. I didn’t expect there to be someone this stupid in the world. Not only that, it’s three people together. To think they sought trouble with Jeremy like this. Do they want to meet their end quicker?
“So, it was you three who slandered my client, Mr. Gardner? And you even intend to intimidate my client into doing your bidding?” Dylan sternly asked Gideon and his two family members.
The expression
of Gideon’s group changed.
Ten minutes later, the trio left the Gardner residence dejectedly.
The housekeeper almost shooed them away with a broom.
‘Could it be that we really got it wrong?” wondered Gideon aloud.
