Aurelia was greatly startled. “Xavier, we got married through matchmaking, and now we both have some- feelings for each other. We hope that our relationship can develop more steadily.”

It didn’t really matter if she liked Matthew or not.

She married Matthew, so even though they had decided to carry on together, in reality, they were just sharing their lives as companions.

In the future, to her, Matthew was at most a bedmate and a meal buddy.

Matthew slightly furrowed his brows. To him, Aurelia’s attitude seemed to suggest she wanted to distance herself from him. Her dislike for him was something he was sure of.

To Xavier, that response seemed normal and fell within his expectations.

Mabel introduced Aurelia and Matthew to each other, so it made sense to Xavier that the two married due to mutual affection.

His question was somewhat abrupt.

“All right, you two should get along well with each other. Any issues can be resolved through discussion,” Xavier said,

He didn’t take issue with a marriage born from matchmaking efforts.

After all, Aurelia and Curtis had known each other for many years, yet Curtis still betrayed Aurelia, proving himself to be despicable,

“All right. Don’t worry,” Matthew promised.

He would give all the respect he could to Aurelia.

Xavier was quite pleased, not expecting Matthew to be so agreeable.

He had heard people say that interacting with Matthew required a strong spirit.

Moreover, they had to speak with utmost caution as they might unintentionally and suddenly anger Matthew,

Upon seeing Xavier’s softened demeanor and his acceptance of Matthew, Aurelia finally let out a sigh of relief.

Afterward, Xavier, Aurelia, and Matthew went their separate ways.

On the subway ride back, Xavier was bewildered as a realization dawned on him. Given Matthew’s status, he shouldn’t have needed to resort to matchmaking. Why did he suddenly accept the arrangement made by the elders? Could it be that he has issues with his manhood? Oh no, I don’t think I can sleep tonight thinking about this. I need to subtly inquire about it with Aurelia in the future. That said, how am I supposed to talk about something like this with my little sister? Argh, my head hurts. Is it because I drank too much? Ugh, whatever. Since they’ve already married, I can take my time. Once he returns from his business trip, I’ll figure out a way to learn the truth. I can’t let Auri down

The following day, a car suddenly came to a halt in front of the Gardner residence entrance.

Since it was Saturday, although there would usually be guests, the housekeepers would always know a day in advance who was expected to visit.

Upon seeing the unfamiliar faces stepping out of the car, the housekeeper, somewhat bewildered, asked, “May I ask who you are

“We’re here to meet Mr. Jeremy Gardner,” Gideon stated outright.

He had already begun to display some attitudes of an elder.

Gideon had his plans, and he wanted Aurelia to stay with Jeremy if possible. After all, with Jeremy as their backer, the Leedon family’s company in Jacaster would continue to reach greater heights. Perhaps even Quigley Group would treat them differently out of respect for the Gardner family. Therefore, Gideon wanted Aurelia’s relationship with Jeremy to be maintained. He needed Aurelia to stay on good terms with Jeremy.

Additionally, in Gideon’s opinion, it would be best if that relationship could be openly acknowledged.

Benjamin gazed at the imposing Gardner residence before him with a touch of envy. In Jacaster, there were only a handful of families with such profound heritage. In comparison, the Leedon family was barely noticeable in the grand scheme of things.

The housekeeper didn’t recognize Gideon and was uncertain how to proceed after observing his demeanor. Thus, the housekeeper asked, “May I know who you are?”

“I’m Aurelia’s father.” Gideon straightened his back.

Aurelia? The housekeeper was not unfamiliar with that name.

The housekeeper was certain that Aurelia was someone Chad liked, but he appeared brokenhearted yesterday.

Thus, the housekeeper was confused as to why Aurelia’s father wanted to meet Jeremy.

The housekeeper dashed inside immediately./

When Jeremy heard that Aurelia’s father wanted to meet him, he was somewhat taken aback.

Logically speaking, Aurelia’s father should have gone to meet Matthew, so Jeremy didn’t understand why the visit was happening.

Confused, Jeremy had his housekeeper bring the visitor in.

Upon seeing the housekeeper usher them in, Gideon’s group felt even more confident because they thought their assumptions had been correct.

Also, they thought it was apparent that Jeremy was quite fond of Aurelia.

Benjamin sneered in his mind. He had always looked down on Aurelia. After all, having a sister from the countryside was something he found embarrassing. At that moment, however, he had to admit that Aurelia had some skills.

Jeremy, who was often surrounded by beautiful women, took a liking to her, which Benjamin took as proof that she was more capable than he had initially thought.

In reality, Luna was quite vain. She could put on airs in front of Phyllis, but when faced with an actual prestigious family, she genuinely felt a sense of inferiority and lack of confidence.

Looking at the luxurious mansiour before her, she felt a strong sense of envy.

She hoped that the Leedon family would eventually develop to the point of owning such a manor.

After the group was invited in, they didn’t see Jeremy..

The housekeeper explained that Jeremy was occupied but would be available shortly. They were asked to wait for a moment

In reality, at that moment, Jeremy was upstairs, silently observing the family seated downstairs.

After some thought, he decided to take a picture and send it to Matthew, who should likely be taking at break that day.

Indeed, at that time, Matthew was having breakfast with Aurelia. They had returned late the night before, and since it was the weekend, they had both decided to sleep in.

By the time Aurelia woke up, it was already past eight in the morning. For breakfast, she made pasta carbonara.

While Matthew was eating the pasta, he received a WhatsApp message from Jeremy.

Casually, he opened the app and glanced over the message briefly.

When he saw Gideon and Benjamin, he subtly raised an eyebrow.

Aurelia noticed Matthew engrossed in his WhatsApp. Assuming it was work–related, she chose not to disturb him. Quietly, she continued to cat her pasta.

However, Matthew handed his cell phone to Aurelia. “Are they your biological parents?”

Upon hearing the words “biological parents,” Aurelia furrowed her brows. Why bring up those lowlifes? She took the phone from Matthew with a hint of confusion.

She saw Gideon and two others seated in a luxurious mansion, though it was unclear what they were discussing. Also, a housekeeper was seen bringing them coffee. “What are they doing?”

“They sought out Jeremy using your name. Right now, Jeremy is unsure of their intentions,” Matthew said.

With a cold expression, Aurelia stated, “Please convey to Mr. Gardner that these people have no connection to me. If they insist on fabricating a connection, then they will all be considered my adversaries.”

Matthew looked into Aurelia’s eyes, noticing a faint glimmer of pain hidden within their cold depths. “Mhm. I’ll discuss it with Jeremy

Aurelia continued to eat her pasta in an even more serene manner

She was well aware of the shamelessness of the Leedon family.

“If you find them bothersome, just mention my name. They won’t dare disturb you in Jacaster ever again,” Matthew added.

Aurelia looked up at Matthew, touched by his protection. “They will only stoop lower, wanting to leech off

you even more.”

Matthew smirked. “Facing me, they won’t dare to.”

The Leedon family was despicable, but his methods, compared to those of the Leedon family, were event more underhanded.

If they wished to court death, he would oblige them.
