The Heart Sees

"Why haven't we heard anything yet?" I asked Liam as I paced around the room.

"These things take time. I'm sure the alpha will come as soon as there is any news. You know he can't resist you" Liam smirked.

"What about Terry? Aren't you worried about him?" I asked nervously.

"We shouldn't be talking about this now" Liam sighed.

"Please Liam, I need something to distract me. I am going crazy with worry" I begged and he sighed.

"Of course I am but Terry is also a beta and the alpha is out there with him" Liam said as he ran a hand through his hair.

"How are things going with you and Terry?" I asked as I took a seat on the floor across from him.

He shrugged, "okay I think... we've spent a lot of time together lately and we have gotten closer. I just don't know if I should ask him to be my chosen mate yet or not... and I don't really know if that is what he wants".

"Of course it is! Why would he turn you down. I say you just go for it. I mean look how Troy and I turned out? I know I don't remember it but he said I asked him to be mates first" I chuckled.

"Yeah you did" Liam smiled but I could tell he was sad.

"See! If I can do it then you can definitely do it. Besides, from what I have heard from the alpha he really likes you" I said to try and cheer him up.

"Really?" Liam asked hopefully and I nodded. "So what should I do? Should I just ask him or should I plan some big gesture?"

"I would plan something... maybe a date at a nice restaurant or something?" I suggested.

"No that sounds to cliche... what if I make him something?" Liam asked.

"Well you already made him a pie..." I mumbled.

"True... but I want it to be something different" Liam sighed.

"You should take him for a run somewhere on the full moon coming up. Then you could spend time in wolf form and human form... plus you might get to see him shirtless" I chuckled and Liam blushed.

"Yeah, yeah..." he waved a hand at me. "It is a good idea though. I think I might go with that.. but the full moon is in less than a week so I'll have to ask him soon".

"Just ask next time you see him?" I suggested and Liam nodded. "You can't back out though... promise?" I raised an eyebrow at him. "You never know how long you will get with your mate... you shouldn't waste anymore time" I sniffled.

"Troy will be fine, he is a strong fighter and he won't leave you like this" Liam replied as he rubbed my back to help calm me down.

"Thank you for distracting me Liam but you have to promise me you will ask Terry" I sniffled again.

"Promise" Liam said just before there was a knock at the door.

"That must be alpha Troy!" I said happily as I ran and grabbed the door handle.

"No!" Liam shouted as he took my hand off the door handle. "It could be Chase" Liam explained. "Who is it?" He shouted.

"Beta Terrance" we heard Terry from the other side of the door and I smirked while Liam's face paled.

"You promised" I mouthed to him and he chuckled as he opened the door.

"What's the news? Is alpha okay?" I asked worriedly when Terry walked in.

Terry chuckled, "Alpha is fine. He has some good news for you. He was just getting checked out at the hospital".

"The hospital?" I squeaked nervously.

Terry nodded and then Liam spoke, "I'm glad alpha is okay... and I'm really glad that you're okay" he blushed. "I was wondering... now that some things are settled if you'll go on a run with me on the full moon coming up?" Liam spit out nervously.

"Sure that sounds like fun" Terry smiled.

"Have fun you two! I am off to see Troy" I shouted as I pushed past the beta and ran out the door. I looked around and started running around the pack grounds... if only I could remember where the hospital was.

'I hope mate is okay' Lilac chimed in.

'Well Terry said he had good news so he must be okay' I replied as I rushed around a building.

"Lu, I was just coming to see you" I heard Troy before I saw him. When I turned around I saw that he was slowly walking towards me.

"Alpha!" I felt myself tearing up as I ran over and wrapped him in a hug.

"Ouch" I heard Troy say and I released my arms from him.

"I'm so sorry... are you okay?" I asked worriedly as I saw him clutching his side.

"I'm okay. Great actually, just a small cut" Troy said as he smiled at me. "Are you okay?" He added.

"I'm okay I was just worried about you, Terry said you were at the hospital" I said nervously.

"Yeah I just wanted to get looked at" Troy shrugged. "But I have great news" he grinned.

"What?" I asked.

"I killed him. Chase is dead.... he won't be after you anymore Lu. You're free" Troy said and I gasped, feeling tears start rolling down my cheeks.

"He's... he's really gone?" I asked in shock.

"Yes... he's really gone" Troy smiled. "I'm glad that I could get that jerk before he had the chance to hurt you again".

I leapt at Troy and wrapped my arms around his neck, pulling him in for a kiss. "Thank you" I said breathlessly when I finally broke the kiss.

"It was my pleasure mate" Troy purred and I leaned my forehead against his.

"I don't know what I did to deserve you" I sniffled.

"You're amazing Lu... and you'll be an amazing luna to this pack" Troy said and I blushed. "And now that the issue with Chase is settled... I wanted to tell you that I love you" I gasped. "I should have told you sooner but I didn't want you to feel pressured and you don't need to say it back yet if you're not ready... but I had to tell you. I'm crazy about you Lu" he smiled brightly.

"I love you too" I replied through my sniffles before pulling in and kissing him again. "Thank you for everything you did for me... for allowing me into the pack... and for avenging me with Chase" I spat out his name in disgust.

"What else are mates for?" Troy joked. "Seriously though.... I want to be connected to you Lu and I will wait until you're ready.. as long as it takes. But will you let me know as soon as you're ready for marking? Brax is driving me insane" he chuckled.

"After everything.... I think it will be soon. Maybe next week on the full moon?" I suggested.

"Are you sure? We don't have to rush?" Troy said gently.

"I'm sure" I smiled and Troy grinned happily.

"There is something else..." Troy sighed.

"What is it?" I asked nervously.

"You mentioned how horrible it was in your old pack... now that I killed Chase I am the rightful alpha. Someone will be assigned to take over while we lead here... but could you identify the wolves who treated you badly?"

"I don't want to go back there...." I admitted.

"They should be punished for how they treated you... " he sighed. "What if I show you pictures of the pack members and you point them out?" He offered.

"I can do that.... but they don't deserve to be killed" I stated.

"Alright Lu. I'll have you point them out and then handle them accordingly. Thank you for letting me do this" he said as he pressed his forehead to mine.

"Thank you for protecting me" I whispered back, "I don't know what I would have done if I lost you".

"You didn't lose me... I am right here and I will never leave you" he replied softly.
