The Heart Sees

"Alpha!" I heard Terry as I felt the weight of Chase's dead body suddenly lifted off of me.

I shifted back, Brax unable to hold wolf form any longer because of the injuries we got from the fight. "I'm okay... it's just a few scratches" I coughed.

"Yeah right! We have to get you to the pack hospital or call the pack doctor" Terry scoffed.

"Just call the doctor, I want to see Lu" I said as Terry helped me up.

"She won't want to see you all beat up" Terry defended.

"Fine... but I don't want to keep her waiting either" I sighed as I limped along side Terry.

"Great... pack doctor is on the way. Sit tight and they'll get you patched up. That was a great fight Alpha... you kicked his butt! I'm glad that jerk is finally gone" Terry said angrilly. "What did he say to you before you killed him?"

"How do you know he said something?" I asked with a chuckle.

"Because I haven't seen Brax that angry in a long time" Terry replied.

I nodded, "yeah... he said that he took a part of Lu that she can't get back because he was the first to mate with her" I explained.

"What a scum bag!" Terry growled. "You did the world a favour by killing him. And that was not mating... that was forced".

"I know, he was just trying to get in my head. It doesn't matter now that he's gone. Lu is free and safe and that's all that matters" I said and I heard Terry nodding beside me. "I really think we should update Lu before I get locked in the hospital for hours".

"I can update her. You need to get stitched up..." Terry mumbled. "Is there a plan for the pack you just took over?"

"What?" I asked, confused.

"Well now that you killed alpha Chase his pack is yours" Terry pointed out.

"Right... I haven't come up with a plan yet but maybe I can appoint someone to run it? I can't be in both packs at once and I don't want to lose you as a beta... I need you around here" I explained.

"I can help you interview people for it or select from our warriors" Terry added and I nodded as we walked into the pack hospital. I guess I was so distracted I didn't know that's where Terry was taking me.

"Alpha! Oh goodness what happened?" The pack doctor asked as she rushed over and I felt her tiny hands starting to examine my side.

"Another alpha broke into the pack and attacked the pack house. Troy was able to kill him but the enemy put up a good fight" Terry laughed and I hit his arm playfully.

"Well we have to get this stitched up before you pass out from blood loss. Does the luna know?" The doctor asked as Terry helped me onto a bed.

"Not yet" Terry replied sheepishly.

"Oh you! Someone better tell her! She is probably out of her mind with worry. Poor thing..." the doctor scolded as she started cleaning the blood off of my side.

"I'll go tell her. Look after the alpha for me in the mean time" Terry said before leaving the room.

"In my defense I wanted to go straight to tell her but Terry said she shouldn't see me like this" I laughed.

"You would have been right to tell her but the beta does have a point. You look like you walked out of a blood bath" the doctor scoffed. "Now hold still please so I can stitch" she said as I felt a poke in my side. "Why would another alpha attack anyways?"

"He was after the luna because she's an omega" I growled.

"Well serves him right... people shouldn't be going around stealing other people's mates' she replied. "Thank you for protecting the pack alpha... I know that you still get challengers after all this time and it's just not right. You do so much for this pack and sacrifice so much. I only hope that after this mess you finally get some happiness with our new luna' she smiled at me.

"Me too... she has been through a lot lately though and I don't want to force her into anything. If I could I would have the luna cermemony tomorrow" I sighed.

"You are a very attentive mate alpha. I'm glad that luna will be taken care of" the doctor replied.

"Thank you for addressing her as the luna even though she doesn't have the title officially yet" I said shyly.

"Oh please! Everyone has seen you witn the luna. We all see how happy you are and we all know she will be a great addition to this pack".

"I know everyone has met her and I appreciate that everyone seems to like her so far. You are right that she'll make a great luna" I smiled.

"I feel horrible that I haven't been to see Lu. I told her I would come for her when it was over" I groaned.

"Well you'll be in trouble with her for sure then! Don't worry I'll have you stitched up in no time" she laughed.

"Thanks" I smiled at her as she continued her work.

'Update?' I mind linked Terry.

'I'm just getting to the pack house now. I'll let you know as soon as I have told Lu and Liam the news. But I may be a bit before I'm back at the hospital, I just want to make sure Liam is okay after everything' Terry said and then paused.

'What else?' I asked, sensing his hesitation.

'I think you should assign Liam as Lu's personal body guard' Terry said suddenly.

'Why?' I asked curiously.

'Because she will need protection... people will be after her because she is an omega. I just think you should think about it' Terry explained. 'And you wouldn't have to worry about him stealing your girl... plus they are best friends' he added quickly.

'I like the idea.... only when I am not with Lu of course. And we should ask both of them about it first' I replied.

'Sure thing alpha' Terry said happily before breaking the mind link.

"All set alpha. You can go see the luna now but avoid shifting so you don't tear the stitches and don't move too quickly" the doctor warned and I nodded, crawling off of the bed.

"Thank you" I smiled and left the room to go find Lu nad tell her the good news about Chase.
