The Heart Sees

Chapter 30

Troy's P.O.V

I walked into the kitchen and sat down at the table with a thump. "What happened?" I heard Terry ask with concern.

"I told Lu about everything that happened... well everything I know happened when she was kidnapped. She deserved to know the truth and I felt like I was always lying to her by leaving out details" I explained sadly.

"Well it's good that she doesn't remember what that jerk did to her, but I know what you mean. It's hard seeing Lu and knowing how things used to be before she lost her memory" Liam frowned.

"How did she take the news?" Terry asked as I felt his hand on top of mine.

"As well as can be expected... she thought I wouldn't want her anymore because she is tainted. But I don't think that is the case at all... none of what happened is her fault" I said angrilly.

"So is she still going to be your mate?" Terry asked.

"Yes thanfully. Although I pledged myself to her using the sacred alpha vow and she rejected it. She said she didn't want to be responsible for my life like that" I said thoughtfully.

I could practically see their jaws drop as I heard some stuttering. "The sacred alpha vow? No one has used that in forever. Why would you pressure her like that?" Liam asked.

"I want to make sure she knows I'm not going anywhere and that she is important to me" I explained in a duh tone.

"I felt her being connected to the pack. Why would she do that if she rejected the vow?" Terry asked.

"Because she wants to give us a chance as mates and be with me... thank goodness" I ran my hand through my hair. "She also wanted to be able to mind link with me in case anything happened but... she isn't ready to be marked yet... understandably. So I joined her to the pack mind link. That way if she is taken again or Chase shows up she can tell us" I sighed.

"So there won't be a luna ceremony anytime soon then?" Liam asked sadly.

"No... and I don't want to push her. We can have the ceremony and complete the process when she's ready" I said firmly.

"I'm glad that she still wants to be the luna after everything. It makes sense that she needs time to process though" Terry nodded.

"It's weird that you two ended up being second chance mates too. I mean I'm not complaining but that doesn't happen too often" Liam shrugged.

"Yeah it's strange... but I'm glad the moon goddess arranged it. It felt amazing as a chosen mate but the connection feels stronger and deeper now" I smiled.

"We're happy for you both. The pack will be happy too after the luna takes her rightful place" Terry smiled back.

"There was another piece I can't put together though... the moon goddess mentioned something about her being able to physically accept no other. I've been thinking about it but I'm still not sure what it means" I leaned over the table.

"Not sure but it does sound strange..." Liam hummed.

"Maybe it means she can't be mated by anyone else?" Terry asked and I turned my head in his direction.

"What do you mean?" I asked.

"Well... ummm" Terry stuttered. "if another male tries to.. you know... then maybe they won't be able to slide in? Like her entrance will close up and keep other males out except you" I could tell Terry was embarassed talking about it.

"Woah..." Liam said in surprise.

"That would make sense... and it would protect her from being violated again. I did ask the moon goddess for help with that.... that means if Chase gets her he can't breed her though..." I gagged on the words. "And once he finds that out he'll kill her" I said with disgust.

"Well then we can't let him even get the chance to try" Terry said firmly.

"Has there been any sightings yet?" I asked.

"No" Liam shook his head. "The patroles haven't seen him or any of his pack members around the territory".

"Well that's a good thing I guess. I just want him found so that we can end this" I said as I stood up. "Keep me informed. I'm going to go check on Lu".

"Sure thing" Liam said as I walked up the stairs.

I made sure to knock on the bedroom door before I walked in, in case Lu was getting changed. Not that I could see anything but it was a polite gesture none the less. "Lu?" I called out. I waited and didn't hear an answer so I decided to go in. I smelled her but all I could hear was the water running... is she still in the shower? "Lu?" I called again, knocking on the bathroom door this time.

"Just a minute" I heard Lu's cracked voice through the door and could tell that she had been crying. I sighed and went over to the bed to sit and wait.

I knew that she would take the news hard but the longer I sit here the more worried I seem to get. Is this my fault? Should I have left her in the dark about all the things she forgot? I was distracted when I heard a sort of tapping noise coming from the window. I assume it's just a branch hitting it or something.

I got up to investigate and ran my hands over the window frame. Why is the window open? I remember it being closed and locked before I left the room. I ran my hands over the window sill and gasped in pain when I felt sharp claws dig into my hands. I heard the door open behing me and hissed in pain, "Stay in the bathroom Lu, lock the door! And get Terry and Liam, they're downstairs" I shouted.

"But Troy-" she said frantically.

"I can handle it, go!" I yelled before I felt the claws yank me through the window.
