Chapter 25
"Over here!" Kylan screamed, running behind the defender.
However, Bradley searched for another pass and turned over the ball, the other team stealing it from him rapidly. Kylan cursed under his breath, having to rush back. The second time that happened, Kylan ran past Bradley, "What are you doing? You keep losing the ball. You take too long to play it."
"Just because we're on the same team does not mean I'm friends with you," he spat, glaring at him.
Kylan narrowed his eyes, "We don't have to be friends, and you don't have to pass it to me. But play it quicker, because it's the second time you do this—"
"How about you get off my case?" Bradley snarled, broadening his shoulders and facing Kylan, unfocused from the game.
"What's your problem, dude?"
"Guys!" They heard Jonah's voice approaching them. However, they ignored him.
"You're the one starting a problem right now-"
"I'm just trying to help you," he shouted, "so that we fucking win."
"How about you leave me alone," Bradley screamed, shoving Kylan's backward, which caused the referee to blow his whistle immediately.
Jonah rushed in front of Bradley, blocking his reach to Kylan, "Brad, calm the fuck down."
"Shut up," Bradley snarled, "you damn homo."
Jonah lowered his arms and scoffed, "You're upset because I like Kylan?"
"Don't fucking speak to me "
"You guys need to get this sorted, or else I'm calling a red on all three," the referee threatened.
The coach called Bradley's name and pulled him to the bench. Bradley stepped off the field, but not after glaring at the both of them with such hatred Jonah almost believed it was true. He knew Bradley did not hate him, however. He had only been slapped with news that was hard for him to swallow.
The game continued, although the atmosphere was a bit hostile. They lost the game, partially because the argument had caused such a hostile environment between the teammates. Afterward, the coach has a few words for the three of them. "It is always you three," he screamed at them, glaring at all three who shamefully lowered their heads, avoiding his gaze, "I trusted you three. Your little fight cost us the game. Look," he stepped forward aggressively, "I don't care what your little fight was about. But don't make this happen again because as good as you all are, I will kick you off the team before you even get to blink. That's not a threat; it's a promise." He stormed off, heading towards his vehicle and drifting away from the school.
Since they had been in trouble, they were on clean-up duty. They had to bring the ball bags, cones, flags, and bring down the nets. Bradley kept quiet, descending one corner of the net while Kylan did the other. It was not until they had to fold the net and approached one another, Bradley throwing his end in Kylan's arms, that Kylan said something to him.
"I'm gay, Bradley," he hissed.
Bradley turned around, "What?"
"For some reason, it's terribly hard for you to understand. So swallow that fucking fact," Kylan straightened his spine, a bit scared of Bradley, but the soccer field and being in his cleats was causing such courage and pride to hold his ground, as he narrowed his eyes back at Bradley. "This is not the years when gay people were burned at the stake."
"You think I'm mad because you are gay?" Bradley scoffed, stepping towards him.
Jonah, who heard the argument from afar, dropped the ball bag he was holding and started sprinting towards them.
Kylan shrugged his shoulders, raising his eyebrows, "You gave me the impression that you were "
"Well, you're fucking wrong," he snapped, approaching Kylan even closer, staring down at him with such rage behind his distorted features that Kylan did gulp, a bit afraid that Bradley would swing his fist.

"Then why are you mad?" Kylan asked, "We can't play if we have such animosity between one another. If that's the case, I'll quit-"
"Then quit, Kylan!" he shouted, gritting his teeth.
Kylan frowned; he was in such confusion, "What is going on?"
"I'm not mad at the fact that you are gay," he hissed, "I've known that fact for weeks now. I'm mad at Jonah, not at you, and basically, since he's involved with you, it makes me equally mad at the both of you." "Why are you mad at me?" Jonah asked, finally reaching them and panting.
Bradley turned to face him, "Because you did not even have the decency to tell me you were gay. Not even that you were having feelings for him."
"I'm not even sure what I am yet-"
"It doesn't matter," he growled, clenching his fists, "we've been best friends for some many years, and I've had your back and trusted you for years. I tell you everything. I even told you when my father attempted to commit suicide." Kylan widened when he heard that, his anger suddenly disappearing, but he clenched his mouth shut. "And you could not even tell me this. I had to find out about that through the internet."
"I was scared, Brad-"
"Scared of what?!" he widened his arms, "You are scared of me, Jonah? Really? That's the only excuse you have?"
"It's the truth, Bradley," Jonah argued back, clenching his jaw and furrowing his eyebrows, "I didn't know how you would react. Not to mention, you were trying to tease Kylan for looking at me in the changing room, P.E class. You called him gay in wanting to make fun of him."
"That was just a joke "
"It doesn't matter what it was. You still teased him for it." Jonah paused for a moment before adding, "I thought you'd do the same for me."

Bradley shook his head, pure disappointment in his gaze. After a moment of silence, he hissed, "If you truly believe that I could do that to you, then we never knew each other from the beginning."
He began marching off, and Jonah grabbed his wrist, "Brad, it's not like that."
"Then tell me the truth because I'm not buying it-"
"I'm ashamed of it!" he screamed, causing Bradley's distorted features to soften. Jonah clenched his teeth together, tightening his fists to his side before continuing, "I had sex with him one time as a joke, and now I can't stop thinking of how his face twitched and how he moaned. He's a fucking dude, and I can't stop thinking about the way he said my name that night and how he looked at me. Everything he does gets to me, even the way he sniffles, turns me on. I'm ashamed of it, alright? Maybe I didn't tell you, but it wasn't because I didn't trust you. I'm not gay," he clarified, "I don't like men, Bradley. It's just....it's him."
Kylan bit his bottom lip behind Jonah, feeling a sting in his heart.
Bradley stepped forward and lowered his eyes, scratching the back of his head. Eventually, he shook his head and placed his palm on Jonah's shoulder, "I'm sorry."
Jonah shook his head, "It's alright. I'm sorry for not telling you."
Bradley nodded his head, and after a moment, he quietly chuckled and said, "It's a bit weird though, hearing you say another dude turns you on,"
"I know that already, Brad," he laughed himself, punching him softly in the stomach.
"You turned on by me?"
Jonah laughed, "Shut up."
However, he noticed Bradley raise his eyes, looking over Jonah's shoulder, and when he turned around, such gloom had consumed Kylan's features. He was staring at the ground, his sensitive side surfacing, and his eyes were swelled with tears. Without another word, he marched past them towards the building.
