Chapter Six
Arabella
I can’t help but be annoyed that Valentina decided to show up. I should have known that she wouldn’t leave me or the situation alone.
She storms throughout the hotels hallway to the elevator and I follow her.
I know once we are at a decent distance from the alpha she will probably chastise me more than she already has.
I am aware that I do deserve it.
That doesn’t mean that I can’t be annoyed about it.
We both step into the elevator and are quiet the whole time as it takes us to the first floor.
She makes sure to keep glaring at me though.
When the doors to the hotel open she snatches my wrist and begins to drag me through the foyer.
I let her drag me through the foyer even though we are getting strange looks from some people they don’t say anything. I’m glad they didn’t because Valentina probably would have made an even bigger scene by yelling at them and telling them to mind their business.
We soon made it outside, but she didn’t stop walking yet, even though the alpha could potentially be a little weak from all of the herbs his hearing is probably still impeccable.
After walking for five minutes outside the parking lot she turns around and she is nearly seething. “There is nothing that you can say that will excuse you having the Alpha of the South chained up in a damn hotel room.” She whisper-shouted at me.
I attempted to fight the grin that was forming on my face but I couldn’t help it. “Well I do have a reason.” I stated.
“Please tell me what reason justifies you having a powerful alpha chained up in a hotel room? What is worth risking the wrath of all of the wolves that live in the pack lands?” She sneered.
I roll my eyes at her. “I need to find someway to lessen the magic in his blood. It’s too strong for me to take on its own and it might overwhelm me. As soon as I find a way to take his blood and not die the rest of the plan will fall into place.”
She throws her hands up in the air. “I think that it might be a sign that you should just throw this plan away and come up with a different one!” She screams.
I shrugged. “Well there’s really no turning back now. I already have him chained up in there. I would hate to have the wrath of all the wolves in the pack lands for no reason.” I fought to keep the smirk off of my face. She is already pissed off at me and I don't want to add fuel to the fire.
She narrows her eyes at me. “It just gives us more time to run.” She pleads. "It just isn't worth it."
“I promise that I will be fine. If he was able to escape he would have done it by now. He will stay there as long as I need, and the other wolves will have no idea how to find him. Now that I know locator spells can be used I will obviously put up a protection spell.” I grab her by her shoulders, maintaining eye contact with her. “I promise that everything will stick according to plan, we won’t have to leave sooner than planned.”
She nods, but I noticed her hesitating to do so. “I just want you to be safe. I know that you want revenge, but it should not cost you your life.” She said before pulling me into a hug. “I should have known from previous behavior that you would end up acting like this. You have always been too damn cocky for your own good.” I hear her say over my shoulder.
I let out a little laugh, I am sure that I will definitely give her premature wrinkles in our lifetime, but she wouldn’t want it any other way.
“Yeah, you should have known.” I agree.
She squeezes me tighter before letting me go. “Do you think that he will be able to mind link his pack and tell them where he is?” She asks as we begin walking back towards the piece of crap motel that I chose.
“No, he was unconscious when I brought him, how did you think I chained him up?” I asked with a laugh. “Besides he was barely able to put up a fight when I first saw him. I don’t see how he is an alpha though. His reflexes are weaker than all of the other wolves that I have come across.” I haven't really thought about that before saying it out loud to her. It doesn't make a lot of sense, people sing his praises about how powerful he is. Yet I was able to catch him off guard. I guess I just got lucky.
“That contradicts everything that I have heard about him. The stories are obviously told by humans so it is probably more fiction than fact but still. Even I could sense his presence before I stepped into the motel’s lobby.”
I stop walking. “So you can feel his presence right now?” I ask.
She stops walking as well, and looks up to the window of the room that he is being contained in. “Yeah, how else did you think I knew what room to go to find you? It is almost bone rattling.”
That is strange, I don’t feel it. I didn’t feel it in the forest when I abducted him. I don’t tell Valentina that because that won’t do anything but cause her panic, and I had literally just got her to calm down.
I don’t respond as we make it to the lobby and walk towards the elevators.
“How long do you think that it will take for you to figure out exactly what you need to do?” She asks as we step into the elevator. "It needs to be soon."
“I am hoping a day at most. I have a small vial of his blood at our place already, but I think that I am going to need more.” I probably don't need too much more, but it is just too satisfying to have one of the most powerful beings on the planet bleed from my knife.
She nods. “It is always good to have more to experiment on.”
The elevator doors open and I see her slight hesitation before she steps off of the lift. Why is it she can feel the alpha's power from far away and I can't feel it at all? I originally thought it was my adrenaline that stopped my senses from working correctly. Then when we got to the motel I thought that it was a side effect from the herbs that I had given him, but now seeing that Valentina is effected and I am is suspicious.
I wrap my arm around her shoulders as we walk through the dim hallway. “Yes, and I have taken our anatomy lesson to heart. I have only been cutting into the brachial artery.”
Valentina gasps. “I specifically told you not to cut into the brachial artery you will bleed him to death.”
I snicker as I grab the door handle and push open the door. “I would very much prefer for the alpha mutt to die.” I make eye contact with him as I step into the room. “He would be more use to the world as food for animals than as an alpha for a pack full of barbarians.”
A ghost of smile graced his lips as he kept his posture relaxed. “I am hurt.” He said sarcastically before closing his eyes.
I see Valentina scurry to the far corner of the kitchen. I roll my eyes. The alpha hasn’t even done anything to warrant her fear, but to each their own.
I walk to the kitchen as well, and grab the knife that I have been using along with a cup from the cabinet.
As Lucian heard my footsteps he opened up his eyes and his lips formed a sly smirk. “It seems like you may have an obsession with my blood." His voice was soft, smooth and calm. Not the normal reaction from a person who was chained to a wall.
I shiver as my eyes connect with his. I have heard humans and witches alike speak on his unique eye color. I always assumed they were being dramatic in an attempt to entertain themselves. Now, I know differently. His eyes are pure black, resembling the obsidian stone that I picked up from the library.
I glare at him before cutting through his arm with the knife vertically. He doesn’t flinch as I break through his artery and begin collecting his blood in the cup.
I hear Valentina gasp. Probably because she is witnessing me firsthand not following her advice, but she doesn't say anything. She is too busy being scared of this mutt to even form a sentence.
Once the cup is full of his blood I turn around and start to walk towards Valentina who is actively scowling at me. “C’mon take us back to our place so I can experiment on the mutts blood.” I circle the cup with my hand, making the blood swish around.
I hear Lucian chuckle behind me, but I pay him no mind. I do see the blood drain in Valentina’s face at his laughter. Her fear for him is almost comical. There isn't anything that he can do to her and she still is ready to bolt out of the room.
I walk towards the kitchen where she is. I know that there is no way she is walking any closer to the alpha than she already is.
She grabs my hand quickly before chanting a teleportation spell that I would never be able to do. My vision is blurred and it lets me know that the spell is working. Yet I can't help but be a little worried as I watch the smirk on Lucian's face get wider.
