Chapter 180 -
The door opened up soon after and sure enough, Asher appeared at the door.
"Asher?!" Savannah was shocked. She did not expect that it would be Asher. Could it be that he was interested in the hotel as well?
Asher gave Savannah a quick glance and then looked at Felix with a smile, saying, "You must be Mr. Felix Willcox? Nice to meet you. I'm here to learn more about your situation. I heard that you wanted to sell your hotel. I wonder if you've already found a buyer?"
Felix immediately stood up and shook Asher's hand and said, "You must be the young master from the Crawfords household, Asher? Your reputation precedes you. Please, have a seat." Asher's name was becoming more and more well-known in Alexandrius. It was only normal for Felix to have heard of him.
Savannah snorted and said, "Young master? He's already been exiled by the Crawfords. Asher, it's not that I'm underestimating you, are you sure you can pay everything in cash all at once?!" "Just because I can't doesn't mean someone else can't. Also, don't cross me. Just because you have Sebastian as your sponsor now, it doesn't mean you can do whatever you want. If I want to deal with you, no one can save you," Asher said coldly as he glanced at Savannah.
Savannah grinded her teeth and said, "I'm warning you, Asher. Your good days are numbered. Once Joel is down, you'll be the one that Sebastian targets next. We'll see just how long you can keep up that arrogance of yours."
Smack!
Savannah had just finished her sentence when Asher slapped her face. He then said in a low tone, "I can make your name disappear from Alexandrius. Do you want to bet on that?!"
Red stains quickly appeared on Savannah's face. When Felix saw that, he was shocked as well. He quickly jumped up and said, "Please, both of you, what's this all about? Don't get so riled up! We all live in the same city."
"I'll remember this, Asher!" With that, Savannah walked out as she grabbed her bag.
"Sorry about that, Mr. Willcox," Asher said with a smile.
Felix waved his hand and said, "Savannah is just a younger member of a third-rate family. To think that she would fight back against you... She deserves everything that's coming to her. Speaking of which, let's get to the matter at hand. Are you the one interested in the hotel? Or your friends?"
"Not me or my friend. She's my partner," Asher said.
"Oh? If that's the case, this should be easy. I've heard of you, Mr. Crawford. If we can become friends, I don't mind giving you a discount in terms of price, hehe."
Felix was a smart man. While Asher's reputation had been damaged lately, whatever he had left was still much more substantial than what others had. All the contacts that Asher had built up over the years could not be compared to those built by other young masters and missus of other households.
About an hour later, Asher left the hotel and gave Noelle a call.
"Did you miss me?" Noelle asked with a smile.
Asher simply answered with a yeah.
"I'll come look for you in the capital city, then?" Noelle asked.
Asher was stunned for a moment and said, "Let's talk business for now. I just left the Prime Hotel, and I spoke with the boss. He's willing to negotiate the price, but he'll need a minimum of 12.5 million, and he needs it in cash."
Noelle went silent for a few seconds and said, "12.5 million is quite affordable, but we don't have a lot of cash in the company's account right now since we're still financing the project from last time. I can only take out 7 million right now. I can think of something else since I should be able to gather the remaining 5.5 million. I'll send you a text in two days."
Asher agreed and said, "Alright."
Layla had been feeling quite frustrated lately. Some time ago, she accepted a job from another province. The client had their eyes on two managers in two different companies and sought out the assistance of Medea Recruitment Center to headhunt the two of them within two months. Layla was the person in charge of this. Originally, she had already finished the negotiation with the two managers, and they were going to sign the contracts the next day. However, she had just received calls from both of them. They had a change of heart at the final moment.
Seeing that it was almost the due date, if she failed to complete the job, not only would she have to pay a high amount of money as penalty, it would affect her reputation and merit as well. It would greatly affect her career advancement in the future.
"Dove, come along with me. We'll need to see them both. Rimworld Corporation is a nationally renowned property company. It is to their advantage to join them. There's no reason for them to turn down the offer in the final moment. There must be some other reasons. Let's go now. First, we'll go to Clear River Corporation and speak with Kyle Bowie." With that, Layla packed up her materials and was about to head outside.
Earlier when Layla had taken up the case, she passed it to Dove. She wanted to give Dove a chance since newcomers rarely had a chance to interact with such cases.
Once they were inside, Dove looked at Layla who had her eyes closed. She did not say anything in case she broke her train of thought and instead focused on driving.
Layla was thinking of all sorts of possibilities. The yearly salary that Rimworld Corporation was offering them was twice of what they were earning now. Not to mention that by joining Rimworld Corporation, it would increase their own personal and professional worth as well. Why would Kyle and the other person refuse?
Earlier, when they met, Layla could obviously sense that the two of them would willingly switch jobs. Which meant that it was likely that something external was forcing them to turn it down at the last minute.
Clear River Corporation was one of the top five property development firms in Alexandrius. Many of the buildings in the city were built by them.
After a short while, the car stopped right outside Clear River Corporation.
When Layla left her vehicle, she inadvertently saw a very familiar car parked close by. Layla was very familiar with the car's color and plate number. She was sure that the black-colored BMW 7- Series belonged to Huxley.
Why was he here?
Layla was taken aback. Huxley had no business with Clear River Corporation that she was aware
of.
In the office of a high-level architect, Huxley was sitting on the sofa with his legs crossed. He was wearing a faint smile on his face. "Kyle, from what I know about Layla, she won't give up convincing you so easily since this is related to her reputation and performance in the field. The iron lady who has never failed will never allow such a stain on her career's record." The reason that Kyle turned Layla down was because of Huxley.
Huxley had been looking for a chance to warn Layla. Unfortunately, he never got the chance to do so. Several days ago, he heard that Layla was headhunting an architect. Coincidentally, Huxley knew Kyle, and so he intervened with the process so that Layla would be in trouble.
"If I'm right, she'll be here looking for you again. Don't mention me when she's here. She can be quite dangerous when she's angry. However, don't worry. She can't do anything to you. Once all
of this blows over, I promise that you'll be better off," Huxley reminded him again.
Kyle was thirty-five years old as well as being one of the most reputable architects in Alexandrius. That was why Rimworld Corp wanted him.
"I know what to do. Don't worry." Kyle nodded.
"Alright, I'm leaving now. If anything happens, call me." With that, Huxley stood up.
Just as he was about to leave, someone knocked on the door and said, "Boss, a woman called Ms. Knight wants to see you."
When he heard that, Huxley frowned. A woman with the surname Knight? Could it be Layla? Kyle was also shocked and quickly said, "Where is she? Bring her to the meeting room." With that, Huxley said, "Master Crawford, I'm sure that it's Layla. You should leave discreetly." Huxley nodded and left. However, he felt uneasy. His car was parked right outside. If Layla was already there, could she have already discovered his car?
After sending Huxley off, Kyle then headed to the meeting room. When he was outside the corridor, he could see two young women sitting in there through the window. It was Layla and Dove.
Kyle sulked. He did not expect that Layla would act so quickly. It seemed like Huxley was right... Layla would not give up so easily.
Kyle only went in after a while and closed the door saying, "Ms. Knight! Why are you here in my company? Didn't you say we could contact each other through the phone? If the upper management knows that we're meeting, they will be suspicious of me."
Layla then said, "You didn't agree to take Rimworld Corporation's offer. What are you afraid of?" Kyle then said with a frown, "If upper management knows that we've met, it will still affect me one way or another. Fine, since you're here, there's no point in saying any of this. Ms. Knight, thank you so much for your interest in me. I admit that I was interested earlier, but after considering it, I still can't take the offer. It's not that Rimworld Corporation's offer isn't good, but my family is in Alexandrius. I really don't want to leave my family here and go to a new city on my own. I'm married and have children. I hope you understand."
Layla smiled and nodded. "I'm not here to convince you, Kyle. Since you've already made the decision, no matter what I say, you won't change your mind."
