Chapter 179 -
Asher and Rose's postures were extremely misleading. Rose's left hand was holding the sofa, while her knee was on the sofa. Her body was only inches away from Asher's face.
Rose had never had anyone daring enough to do something like that to her. Now that she was being forced by Asher into such an embarrassing posture... She wished she could kill him right now. She was afraid that the people outside could hear her, so she muttered, "Asher, if you don't let go, I'll never forgive you for this!"
Asher asked again, "I only care if you're going to help me."
Rose clenched her teeth and said, "I told you. I won't."
When Asher heard that, he pulled her once again, pulling Rose closer toward him. Rose's murderous intention was at the brink of materializing, but even that was not enough to scare off Asher. It was at this time Rose finally gave up and said, "Fine. Let go."
With Rose being so close to him, even Asher's body was having an obvious reaction. No one could deny that someone like Rose was a very attractive woman, especially with that pride of hers. Any man would want to make her submit to him.
Even Asher was no different. He could feel his body heating up, and his eyes were filled with wanting. He smiled. "If you turn me down again when I need your help, I don't mind fooling around with you." With that, Asher let go of Rose's hand.
Rose quickly took a few steps back with her face crimson red.
She took in a few deep breaths. Only after some time had passed did Rose slowly recover and say, "You know my relationship with Joel. How do you want me to help you?"
Asher then said, "Don't you want to eliminate him? This is a chance. Joel publicly challenged the law."
"If he's someone that can be dealt with so easily, do you think he'll still be around?" Rose rolled her eyes at him as if she was looking at an idiot. She then sat down in her office chair and gave it a thought, saying, "Why didn't you call the cops? If you did, it would have been easier for us. But you're only looking for my help now... Aren't you just trying to make things difficult for me?" "I believe that you have your ways," Asher said.
Rose rolled her eyes and thought about it for a while before saying, "Give me some time. Go back for now. I'll let you know once I think of something."
"You think I'm stupid? You need time, right? I'll give you time. I'll wait here. I'll leave whenever you think of something."
"You rascal!"
Asher shuddered. He had to be forceful to deal with someone like her.
Seeing how shamelessly Asher was acting, Rose knew that there was nothing she could do. She then simply said, "Fine. Wait here, then!" With that, she called for the other managers to come in so that they could think of ways to tackle the problem with the products with quality issues. Asher meant what he said as well. He did not go anywhere at all and simply stayed in the office. Asher felt that rather than parlaying with Joel, perhaps it would be better to remove him through Rose and Sebastian's help. As long as Joel was still around, Hunter would never have the chance to rise up.
In the afternoon, Rose was going to go to the cafeteria to have something. However, with Asher refusing to leave her side, Rose was worried that others might say something. It would be even worse if Sebastian caught wind of it. She had no choice but to eat outside the company. Of course, Asher was still with her.
When they were eating, Asher said, "It's not that hard to deal with Joel. Everybody knows that Joel is the boss for two reasons. First, Bard Eastwood. He's quite intelligent, and he's the one that helps Joel by providing him with strategies. Secondly, his underlings led by Nina Tucker. If breaking up Joel's forces in one go is too difficult, why not do it one by one?"
Rose glanced at him. "Doing it is a lot harder than saying it. Other than their abilities, the reason that Bard and Nina are Joel's right-hand men is because of their loyalty to him. It's not that easy to turn them against him."
Asher then said with a dry smile, "Griffin and my relationship was quite strong too, but you still broke us up in the end. Also, I suspect that you secretly had a hand in the entire matter where Huxley framed me. Since there's no one else that wants to kill me in the city other than the Schmidts."
Rose's hand suddenly froze as the fork in her hand almost dropped. She was feeling especially
nervous.
In the past, Rose felt that it was not important whether Asher knew about it or not since her relationship with him could not get any worse. However, she was worried that Asher would find out about it at this juncture. Even she herself did not know why she would think that way. "What would you do if it was me?"
"We'd be enemies forever," Asher said. "However, I've thought about it, and I don't believe that it's you. Because you're someone with a bottom line; a standard. You'd never do something as brutal and immoral as drugging me and making me force myself on Layla. Garrett, on the other hand, might do something like this."
Rose suddenly put down her utensils and wiped her lips with a napkin.
Asher continued, "You're not someone wicked. However, we're all from different households, and we all have to do things that we might not agree with. That's why I don't hate you."
Rose stared at Asher as a strong, indescribable feeling slowly overtook her. "I never thought that despite having been enemies for so long, you would understand how I feel."
"I'm just putting myself in your shoes." Asher smiled faintly and continued taking a bite.
Rose lost all her appetite as she peeked at Asher. Oftentimes, the people that understood you the most were your enemies. The reason being that enemies would be the only ones that would want to know everything about you.
In that instant, Rose suddenly felt that Asher was not that detestable. If she was being honest, the reason that Sam ended up crippled was because one, Asher, lost control. Secondly, Sam was too haughty. However, Sam was still the Schmidts' heir at the time, and Xavier was furious. That was why they wanted to kill Asher no matter what.
If Asher was at fault, he had already paid the price in the past two to three years.
"Sebastian knows that Hunter is your underling. He also knows the reason why you brought them to the capital city. Other than that, Castor, Barry and the others are all under his control. If I help you because Joel thrashed your bar, Sebastian will be even more suspicious of our relationship, and it will be dangerous for both of us. That's also the reason that I didn't want to help you. Also, Sebastian is someone very careful and very intuitive. If you try to build up your own forces in the shadows, he will do everything he can to destroy you because you have already made him feel threatened," Rose explained.
Asher knew all of that. Otherwise, he would not have joined the Gentlemen.
"Do you believe me when I say that even if I were to serve him loyally, he would still try to eliminate me one day? Rather than waiting for my doom, I rather give it all I have." Asher let out a bitter smile.
Seeing that Asher had already made up his mind, Rose did not try to convince him any further. She then said, "I'll accompany you to see Nina and Bard tonight." "Alright." Asher nodded.
After their meal, Asher did not go to Pearl Tower anymore. He was going to see Felix Willcox. Prime Hotel.
That was the name of the hotel that Felix was going to sell.
Felix sat on the sofa with a frown. "Well, you've seen how the business is doing, Ms. Anderson. I'm not going to lie, if it wasn't because I needed the money urgently, I would never have agreed
to sell it. A lot of people are asking about the hotel as well. If you want it, don't hesitate. Otherwise, I'm going to sell it to someone else. If it comes to that, I hope you won't say that I've slighted you."
A young, beautiful woman sat across Felix. It was Savannah Anderson. Savannah was very interested in the Prime Hotel. However, it was too expensive. 1.4 million dollars... She could not afford it. Even some third-rate households would have a headache trying to gather that much funds. That was also the reason why Savannah had not made a decision yet. However, Savannah did not want to let Felix know that she could not afford it. She then said with a smile, "Mr. Willcox, it has already been half a month since you spread the news. However, you still haven't managed to sell the hotel. Maybe it's because of the price. 1.4 million is not a lot, but you want cash. That's a bit difficult. To be honest, even some large households can't afford to pay you that much in cash."
Felix snorted and said, "No cash? 2 million dollars then."
Felix knew that the hotel was worth far more than 1.4 million. However, he needed the cash to
pay his debt. That was why he had to sell the hotel. He regretted it every single day.
Just then, someone knocked on the door. "Sir, a Mr. Crawford wants to speak with you regarding the purchase of the hotel."
Felix did not even think twice and said, "Let him in."
The reason he did that was to prove to Savannah that he had plenty of enquiries regarding the hotels.
