Secret Scion

Chapter 152 -

Greg's face was red. He then said not without anger in his tone, "Layla, your cousin is just too choosy. How many of the youths in Alexandrius can get a salary of six-figures? No wonder he's unemployed."

Layla instinctively glanced at Asher's silhouette and thought to herself, You probably can't even get him to work with a salary of one hundred thousand a year. Though it seems like the

Crawfords don't have any companies of their own, the reality is that they have invested in dozens of companies littered throughout the Northwest. A mere six-digit salary won't even interest him. The group strolled along and finally stopped somewhere in the park.

Greg suggested that they have a meal together. He also wanted to use this chance to get closer to Layla.

However, Asher did not agree to it.

Greg smiled awkwardly. Suddenly, he noticed a group of youngsters standing not that far away from them. He knew one of the men that was somewhat chubby and short. It was Barry.

He was Castor's friend, and he had a meal with Asher last time.

"Layla, please wait for a moment. I need to greet a friend of mine. He's Barry, someone from the social elite circle." After having said that, he then walked over to Barry and gave him a wide smile. "What a coincidence, Mr. O'Connor. You're here for a meal with your friends too?" When it came to wealth, Barry might not be any richer than Greg. However, when it came to their households' strength and connection, Barry's household was far more influential than Greg's. That was why when Greg saw Barry, he addressed him as Mr. O'Connor."

Barry merely gave him a glance. Just when he was about to say something, a familiar face entered his field of vision. Barry's eyes brightened, and he did not even hide the shock on his face. He quickly walked over to Asher and said with a slight bow, "Mr. Crawford."

The word Mr. Crawford had Greg stunned immediately.

Even the young ladies that looked at Asher with disdain just now were filled with disbelief as their eyes opened wide. They looked at Asher in shock as they thought to themselves, Who is this man?!

When he came back to his senses, Greg then walked over and said, "Mr. O'Connor, you know Mr. Crawford too?" There was surprise in his tone.

"Greg, he's not someone that you can address so casually! Do you even know who he is?" Barry said as he stared at him.

Greg was a bit surprised as he mumbled, "He's Layla's cousin, right?"

Barry finally realized what was going on. From Greg's tone, he realized that Greg did not know who Asher was. In a panic, he said, "She is the scion from the Knight household! As for him, he's Asher Crawford, the eldest of the scions of the Crawford household! Seriously, Greg! You should know your place and stop being so informal around Mr. Crawford!"

"What... What did you say? He's Asher Crawford?! The Asher Crawford that everyone has heard about in Alexandrius?!" Greg could only respond in surprise.

Only at this moment did Greg realize how much of a fool he was. No one would believe him when he said that he wanted to help Asher find a job.

No wonder Amber said that he could not employ Asher even with a six-digit salary.

Forget about the six-digit salary. Even if he were to double his offer, he would not even be interested.

"Mr... Master Crawford, I'm so sorry. I didn't know who you were," Greg said with an awkward smile.

Asher did not expect to encounter Barry and have his identity be exposed. He waved his hand and said, "It's fine."

When Greg heard what he had to say, his face turned so red it was as if he had just been slapped. Meanwhile, the two younger women only realized that the person that was around the same age as them was the famous scion from the Crawford household. When they were having their meal just now, they gave Asher the cold shoulder. They did not even want to speak to him, as if eating with him was something that would lower their self-worth. To think that a good chance to get to know him had slipped by just like that... All they felt was regret.

One of the younger women walked over and gave Asher a smile. Just as she was about to say something to him, Asher suddenly said, "Alright, Barry. I'm leaving."

Asher left after saying so and did not even give that woman a chance.

When Amber saw Asher was leaving, Amber also quickly followed him.

Alexandrius University was a learning institute that was well-known throughout the nation. As the wealthy's wants had changed, the number of luxurious cars parked outside of the university had also increased. However, if one were to look carefully, they were all obese, middle-aged men.

At times, young female university students would sit in the luxurious car with smiles on their faces as they drove off.

On the opposite side of the university, a beautiful woman was sitting inside a Maserati. It was Savannah.

Savannah looked at the female students going in and out of the university. She did not come here to look for Jeremiah. Instead, she was here for his girlfriend Juliette.

Savannah was a smart woman. She knew that if she were to interact with Jeremiah directly, she would most likely end up with nothing. That was why she wanted to first interact with Juliette, and use her to test Jeremiah.

Before this, Savannah had already obtained Juliette's number. She called her and set up a time, and it was almost the agreed-upon time.

After a few more minutes, Savannah saw Juliette walking out of the university gate together with a few students. One thing that she had to agree on was that she had both a great body shape and polished elegance. No wonder she could capture Jeremiah's heart.

Savannah honked and Juliette looked at her. She said her goodbyes to her friends and then walked over to Savannah's car directly.

"Sorry for the long wait, Ms. Anderson," Juliette said with a smile.

"It wasn't that long. I've just arrived too. Get in, Ms. Laurier. It's time for lunch, so let's find a quiet place where we can eat and chat," Savannah said.

Normally, a university could easily improve the economy around it. That was why there were plenty of places to eat near a university. Savannah found a restaurant that looked decent and had a good environment. After they ordered their food, they then sat on the sofas at the corner of the establishment.

"Ms. Laurier, how long have you been with Master Macquoid? Unlike the other scions, especially the way he treats girls, he would rather have a few close companions than many acquaintances. It's proof enough that you're someone very impressive especially when you can become his girlfriend," Savannah said with a smile.

Juliette had seen what Savannah could do and knew that she was not an ordinary woman. That was why she spoke very cautiously, "That's too high a praise. I can't be compared to you. Speaking of which, why did you look for me? Is there anything important?"

Savannah then shook her head with a smile and replied, "Nothing particularly important. I simply wanted to have a meal with you alone. If you don't mind me, I would like to have a friend just like you."

"You must be joking, Ms. Anderson. I heard from Jeremiah that everyone in your social circle is the cream of the crop. I'm just a normal university student. I don't think I'm worthy to be your friend," Juliette said as she tried to guess what Savannah wanted. According to Jeremiah, Savannah was a woman that was quite snobbish. She would never invite her to a meal without a good reason.

The only explanation for their interaction is that Savannah wanted to use her to get to Jeremiah. She did not necessarily want to be her friend.

After their meal, Juliette then returned to her university. She did not have Savannah give her a

ride.

Just when she had reached the university gate, an unfamiliar voice suddenly rang from behind. "Please wait, Ms. Laurier. I'm a waiter from the restaurant that you just ate in. Ms. Anderson asked me to pass something to you."

Juliette turned around and saw a young woman, and there was a box in her hands. It looked quite high-class.

"Which Ms. Anderson?" Juliette asked with a scowl.

"The same Ms. Anderson that ate with you, Ms. Laurier." The girl then walked over and said, "Please, take it."

Juliette hesitated for a while before thanking her as she received the box.

When she was back in her dorm room, Juliette then opened the box. It was a Hermes handbag. It was worth at least seven grand. Why did Savannah send her such an expensive gift?

While it was a good handbag, Juliette did not dare to accept her gift on her own. In the end, she gave Jeremiah a call and explained it to him.

After some thought, Jeremiah then said, "The reason Savannah has done that is because she wants to befriend us. In other words, it's possible that she has already lost Rose's trust, so she wants to find a new backer. Since she gave it to you as a gift, accept it. There's no reason not to." Juliette only felt at ease when she received the okay from Jeremiah.
