Secret Scion

Chapter 153 -

Three days later, Hunter had finally gathered the necessary funds. Only then did he go to look for Nina together with Asher.

Due to what had happened last time at Sky Bar, Nina was still quite angry at Asher. Naturally, when she saw him again, she did not react to him favorably.

Nina sat on the sofa with a blank expression on her face and said coldly, "Do you think I'll still transfer the ownership of Sky Bar to you? Get out of my sight right this instance. Don't force my hand!"

Nina was wearing a black leather jacket, and it showed the curves of her figure perfectly.

Asher could not figure it out as well. It was very rare for a woman that was so beautiful to join the criminals.

When Hunter heard what she said, he was instantly aggravated. He said threateningly, "Why don't you give it a try?"

Nine immediately stared at Hunter with cold eyes. Even though she was a woman, that did not reduce the feeling of dread around her. Only when the woman was at the brink of exploding did Asher say with a smile, "Alright, Nina. Show us some respect. Joel has already agreed to it so please don't make this more difficult than it already is. The money is in this case. Seven hundred and fifty thousand, no more, no less."

"Are you threatening me?" Nina said with a scowl.

Asher let out a laugh and continued, "Of course not. I just want to remind you that you shouldn't break the rules. Should I give Joel a call and have him explain it to you?"

After a long moment of silence, Nina then replied in a cold voice as she stared at Asher, "Remember. There's a limit to my patience, so you better not test my limit. You might be Master Crawford in the eyes of others, but to me, you're no better than trash!"

"Fuck, I'll..." Hunter wanted to make a move, but Asher stopped him. He forced a smile and then said, "A lot of people have told me the same thing, so I'm used to it already. Ha... If you have no objection, let's sign the contract then."

In reality, even Asher could not take how Nina was looking down on him. However, the signing of the contract was his main concern. He could not allow his emotions to get in the way.

After half an hour, the two contracts had been signed with one belonging to each side. Asher looked at the contract in his hand with a grin and then gave it to Hunter. He then said, "We're going to be neighbors from now on. If you have time, you're always welcome to visit Sky Bar. Alright, we won't disturb you any further."

Nina snorted coldly and looked away.

Asher then continued, "Oh, right. Here's a suggestion, don't wear something so tight anymore. It might affect your growth."

Asher's eyes were gazing right at Nina's voluptuous chest when he said that. Nina's face turned red, and she was overcome with rage instantly as she cried out, "Asher Crawford! You must have a death wish!"

Nina immediately kicked in the direction of Asher's chest. Her two long legs were perfectly displayed thanks to the bindings of her leather pants. Asher was almost about to get hit in the chest when he made his move at lightning speed. He caught Nina's ankle and negated her attack.

Nina was momentarily stunned. She did not expect that her powerful kick would be negated so easily. That was not supposed to happen.

When Nina was still in shock, Asher suddenly pulled her toward him. Nina lost her balance and she fell right toward Asher. Originally, she was going to grab Asher's shoulders out of instinct, but Asher immediately took a step back and Nina immediately fell to the ground with a split. Even though she was quite flexible, the force that she had to absorb caused her great pain around her thighs.

Nina roared out in embarrassment, "Asher, I'm going to kill you!"

Asher quickly waved at Hunter and said, "Let's go. We can't face her, but we can hide."

Asher and Hunter quickly left before Nina could get back up.

Nina was both embarrassed and furious. She only got back up after a while, and she dared not walk in big strides. She mumbled as she gritted her teeth, "Asher Crawford... Just you wait. You can't hide forever!"

Once they were out of Nina's bar, Hunter gave Asher a cigarette and lit one for himself as well. He then asked as he puffed, "When should we open Sky Bar for business? Should we have an opening ceremony?"

"No need to make it so complicated. There's no benefit for you to make it so grand. Everyone knows that Sky Bar is under Joel's influence. We should use that to our benefit. Joel's reputation is much more useful in this place," Asher said.

Hunter nodded and said, "We're almost done with staffing. We should open for business soon." "That's fine. Right, about Ned, I'm afraid we have to take a step back and reconsider our options. However, I'll have someone go over to the station. He won't suffer much there."

"I'll leave it to you, Master Asher," Hunter said.

After Rose had found out about the plan that Willy the Kid gave Huxley, she could not convince herself that it was fine no matter how much she tried. She believed that in the end, they must have a bottom line regardless of what they had to do. She must not do anything that would make her cross that line.

After hesitating for a few days, she sent a message to Asher in the end and told him about Huxley's friend.

When Asher saw the message, he was stunned for half a minute. He then gave Rose a call and yelled angrily, "Stop saying ridiculous stuff, Rose! Do you want to ruin the relationship we have with each other?! It's not over between us!"

No one would believe Rose's words. Asher and Huxley were cousins. How could Huxley do something that was against morality?

Rose was feeling tense as well after being yelled at since she did it out of goodwill.

"It's up to you to believe it or not," Rose said in an icy tone.

Asher scowled and then asked after a few seconds of silence, "How did you find out about it? Don't tell me Huxley would tell you what he wanted to do before doing it?"

"That's none of your business. If you believe what I said, then be careful. If you don't, you can pretend that this conversation never took place. Goodbye." With that, Rose immediately hung up the call and did not wait for Asher's response.

Asher held his mobile tightly in his hand as his thoughts fell into turmoil for a long time. The tone that Rose used to speak to him did not make it sound like a sham. Not to mention that Rose was a smart woman. Even if she wanted to ruin his relationship with Huxley, she would not use such a bad scheme since it was so unbelievable. Could it be that Rose was telling the truth? However, Asher could not believe that Huxley would do anything like that.

One was his own flesh and blood, while the other was Rose. Naturally, Asher would believe in Huxley.

However, Rose was not lying. Huxley had been planning for it. Several days ago, he had obtained a special pill from a friend. However, he had yet to take action.

Huxley dared not make any move without thorough planning as the matter was too serious. If he were to leave behind any clues, the one that was done for would be him and not Asher. That was why Huxley was lying in wait. Lately, both Layla and Asher had been quite close. He believed that an opportunity would eventually present itself.

And present itself, the opportunity did.

One afternoon, Huxley's chance appeared.

What happened was that Layla did not go home after work and instead went to the Crawfords'

to look for Asher. Several days ago, Asher asked Layla to look for Griffin, hoping that she could help to solve the misunderstanding between them.

Layla went to the Quinns' yesterday just for that. However, Griffin was quite firm this time. He would not forgive Asher no matter what.

Layla then told him what Griffin had said to her when they were in a room. She then added, "Griffin seems to be serious this time. He knows that you're not at fault, but he simply can't forgive and forget. I've said everything I can. There's nothing else I can do if he's unwilling to listen."

Asher's expression was one of pain as he puffed on his cigarette. The relationship between them that had been maintained for so many years was broken just like that?

Griffin was someone that cared a lot. However, the way he was dealing with this was out of his expectations. Asher thought that after he had calmed down after a few days, he would stop being angry. Nothing could be further from the truth.

Asher frowned and said, "I have to thank you no matter the outcome. I'll think of something else. We've been friends for so long... We can't go our separate ways just like this."

After a moment of silence, Layla then said with her eyebrows locked together, "Don't you think that Griffin is acting a bit weird this time? I keep on having the feeling that he's trying to run away from something."

Asher gave Layla a glance. If even she believed that something weird was going on, it seemed like the strange feelings that he had been having were not just his imagination.

At this time, the sounds of a string of footsteps drew Asher's attention. He looked out and a figure walked in. As the sky was getting dark, Asher could not see who it was. Only after the figure had walked in did he realize who was walking in. It was Huxley.

"It's so late, cousins. You're still talking about business?" Huxley had his right hand in his pocket, that pill in his hand. He looked calm, but he was very nervous on the inside.

When Layla saw Huxley come in, she then realized that it was quite late. She then stood up and said, "It's you, Huxley? You two should chat. I'm going home now, I still have to go back to work tomorrow morning."
