Secret Lure of a Cat Demon

Chapter Tests

I took Katsi back to her room to get changed into something a little more movable. If anything she needed to know how to be discreet and so no one would know who she was. I needed her to know how to change properly, without being noticed, by any one, not even those around her. It needed to be one swift movement so when she ran, she could change straight away.

When she emerged from her room she was wearing black trackies that clung to her body well showing off her sculpted legs and toned ass. She wore a tank top with what looked like a sports bar underneath to give her the support that she needed if I were to decide we would spar randomly.

Her dark hair was tied up in a pony tail. I smiled realising that it could become a blinding weapon. She looked at me smiling and her face glowed with excitement. Small pieces of hair fell in front of her ears framing her face well. I noticed it was to hide something. I looked closer and she had a scar down the side of her face. I tried not to cock my head while staring at it. How did she get it I wondered.

“Ready?” I questioned.

“I guess, I got to get it over and done with right, the faster I learn the less time I spent here,” she said. She seemed almost cheerful when she said that she wanted to leave.

“You don’t have to be so cheerful about wanting to leave you know. There are many things that are good within the guard,” I told her, starting to walk down the corridor. She followed looked at me curiously.

“Really? Name a few,” she remarked. I had to think for a few to get the best of this place, I loved the guard for a few reasons but most of the reasons why I stayed here were personal.

“You make great relationships with your platoon. They become a family, one you never thought you would have,” I began. She studied me. I felt quite weird under her gaze as we rounded a corner.

“I never really had a normal family. Being one of many had its down sides, I was only ever close to my sister, Temperance. She is a couple of years younger than me. We got on fine, we still do even though we live far apart, Lilith on the other hand resented me. I guess because she was always meant to take over the pride when my mother died but then I came along and beat her in our first fight. She hated me after that, and it only got worse. Everyone shined to Lilith. They love her and as I grew up the adults stopped talking to me and stop taking notice, sure they were family as well, sisters and brother, sometimes cousins, but everyone loved Lilith. When she walked out of the pride everyone thought it was for the best, sure she was a betrayer of the pride but she had followers.”

I couldn’t say anything. I never knew prides got complicated like that. I knew that they had their rules but I never knew that it got so complicated and that hatred ran strongly in the pride. Before I knew it, she was smiling at me, beaming as though nothing had ever gone wrong. Beaming like we hadn’t just talked about her family, that surely hated her.

“What else is good about this place that you seem to love so much?” she asked me. I studied her profile as we walked along. She seemed peaceful, solum, but there were troubles lurking deep under the exterior. I stopped walking suddenly. She stopped as well and looked at me strangely.

“What happened?” I asked her. She looked at me quizzically. “The scar?” I told her. Her hand instantly went to the side of her face.

“My father...” she trailed off. She looked at the floor and I didn’t push it. I knew she didn’t want to say any more. We carried on walking. I stayed silent thinking things over. What Katsi had said, what happened in her life at home with her pride, how much Lilith hated Katsi, it made my life look easy compared to what she has been through.

We didn’t say anything until we got to the training room. I just casually walked in, where as Katsi just stood there shocked at the room. It was massive. You could split it in two. One side was specifically for training and the other was for things such as training like the change, spying and other things like that.

“You train in here?” she asked me. I looked at her like she was stupid.

“Of course I train in here but I don’t train people, you are the 5th that I have trained, I only train those that are the criminals because I know how to handle them if they get too out of hand,” I said hinting at a few things. She nodded and walked in, I knew she was amazed. It wasn’t hard if you saw it for your self. I walked over to a box on the wall, I opened it and saw a key pad and a screen, I pressed the screen looking for change training. It didn’t take me long and when I selected it the floor moved and Katsi rushed over to me. She watched stunned and then she looked at me,

“I thought we were all medieval here?” I smiled at her words.

“I made my mother get this installed with all the different settings for the different type of training sessions. She has liked that it has improved the guard.” She seemed surprisingly nonchalant about what I told her. I couldn’t help but blink. Her mood swings were worse then my anger.

“So...” she said looking at me expectedly.

“Let’s get started...start running kitty,” I warned and then she realise what I was going to do. She bolted off to hide within the mini village in the room.

It was a couple of hours later and Katsi’s breathing was loud, I was able to find her quite easy but that wasn’t what I wanted from her, I didn’t change so she could hear and understand me. I chased her and when I thought it was the right time, I told her to change, even in full power.

I was looking for her again, she was in her human form, I was going to make this the last time for her to change as we had been hard at work. I rounded a corner and I saw her foot go behind the other corner. I ran down an alley way, and I saw her running, I started after her. She ran around a corner and I followed but she wasn’t there, I had caught up enough to know that she couldn’t have gone around that corner, I slowed to walk and kept my senses on high alert. She had learnt quickly, her deceiving skills were good and so were her running skills.

I stopped completely and closed my eyes. I took a deep silent breath and I could smell Katsi from where she had run every street. Her smell was strong but sweet. It was of roses and lavender, an unusual mix.

I walked another step. I listened this time. There was nothing and then the almost step of a toe hitting the ground. No, it wasn’t ground, it was wood, I looked up and I saw her smirking at me. She jumped off the roof heading to land on her feet. I stepped back hoping for her to just land in front of me but to my astonishment, she changed, it was quick and like a shimmer. I stammer back farther but her front paws knocked me to the floor. She landed on top of me nearly knocking me out.

Once I stabilised myself, I looked at her green eyes, they were smiling, she was pleased that she had grounded me. I pushed on her chest and I sat up as she moved off me. She sat there proud with her tail swinging. I couldn’t help but think how magnificent she looked but then I shook my self, she was a cat, a criminal, and someone who needed to be taught a lesson.

“That was good,” I told her with no emotion in my voice. I was very proud of her to be honest, she was a fast learner. Her skill had enhanced well, and her change was more of a shimmer like it should be then a grotesque image.

I got up and walk over to the box, Katsi still sat there. I still had one more challenge for her. I pressed the off button and the village started to descend. Confused, she looked around. She then pounced to the roof of the building and started running over the roof tops. Just as she pounced off the last roof she changed and landed perfectly on her feet. I smiled inwardly, perfect, I thought.

“Why on earth did you do that? Where you trying to trap me?” She practically screamed.

“No,” I said shaking my head. “It was one little extra test to see how well you had managed todays training.” She nodded slowly thinking of some come back.

“Did I pass?” she asked me, crossing her arms.

“Maybe,” I told her. She rolled her eyes and walked off. Her hips swaying like the cat that she was.
