Chapter 46
“We are werewolves.” Those three words came as a bombshell to me.
“You—you mean were—werewolf as in hu—human who can turn into a wolf?” I stammered.
“No, we don’t turn into wolves, but into cats,” Randolph said sarcastically.
“Randolph!” his father scolded him.
“Sorry,” Randolph mumbled.
“No way! Werewolves don’t exist.” I said in disbelief.
“Previously, you also didn’t know that vampires existed until they kidnapped you and took you to their kingdom, right?” Ivan said.
I ran my hands through my hair frustratedly. “I can’t believe it! I’ve just met vampires and werewolves. Then what’s next? Mermaids? Fairies? Demons? Angels? Dragons? Monsters?”
“Monsters? Really?” Randolph teased.
I glared at him, and he just smirked at me.
“Don’t mind it, Rosanne! Now just eat up your omelette!” Adolph suggested.
“No, thanks. I suddenly have lost my appetite.” I pushed my plate away.
“You must listen to Alpha Wolfgang! Eat up your food now, Rosanne!” Ivan talked to me like he was my father.
Speaking of father, I suddenly remembered about Marlon Sinclair. He was the nearest thing to a father I had ever had. I wondered how he was doing right now. Did he miss me as I did? Was he still looking for me?
“Rosanne, are you okay?” Randolph waved his hand in front of my face.
I was finally pulled out of my reverie. “Yes, I’m fine,” I answered.
“Eat, Rosanne!” Ivan ordered me.
“No!” I shook my head.
“I said, eat!” he urged me.
“Who are you to tell me what to do? My father?” I asked sarcastically.
Randolph said, “He is—”
“I’m just worried about you,” Ivan interrupted Randolph, “I know you haven’t eaten anything since last night. So please eat now or you’ll get sick!”
“I won’t get sick just because I don’t eat once,” I scoffed.
“But Rosanne—”
“That’s enough, Ivan! You don’t have to force her if she doesn’t want to eat,” Adolph said.
“No Alpha, she needs to eat,” Ivan insisted.
′It was the second time Ivan called Adolph ’Alpha’. So which is his real name: Adolph or Alpha?′ I thought in bewilderment.
“I thought your name is Adolph, but why did Ivan call you Alpha?” I asked Adolph.
“Alpha is a term used to call the leader of a werewolf pack. I am the Alpha of the Bloodrose Pack. Ivan is my Beta or second in command. And Randolph, my son, is the future Alpha,” Adolph explained.
“You’ve heard everything about werewolves. Now eat, Rosanne!” Ivan said firmly.
I was tired of arguing with Ivan. So I thought I would give in for now. Moreover, I was hungry. I needed to eat to gain energy so that I could escape, right?
“Fine. I’ll eat. But it’s because you force me, not because I want to.” I pouted at him.
“Sure.” Ivan grinned.
I took my plate and fork and started eating again. Ivan, Randolph, and Adolph did the same.
“Can I ask you something, Alpha?” I posed a question.
“Okay, fire away!” he said.
“Why did you kidnap me?” I asked.
“We didn’t mean to kidnap you, Rosanne. We deliberately brought you here so that we can talk to you without being disturbed by the vampires,” Alpha Adolph reasoned.
“But the fact is you brought me here against my will,” I sneered.
He sighed. “Forget it!”
We ate in silence again.
“If you don’t mind me asking,” Alpha Adolph said, breaking the silent, “why do you agree to marry Prince Maximilian at this very young age?”
I shrugged. “I don’t have much choice. Grandpa forced me to marry him.”
“Oops!” I covered my mouth with my hand when I realized the mistake that I just made.
'I houldn’t have said that in front of my kidnappers,' I thought.
“That old vampire never changes. All he thinks about is himself.” Ivan clenched his fist into a ball.
I didn’t know why Ivan got angry with the fact that my grandfather forced me to marry Prince Maximilian. From the way he spoke of my grandfather, Ivan seemed to have known him for a long time. But what’s his relationship with King Bellamy? I was sure if I asked Ivan, he wouldn’t answer it. So I had to find out the answer myself somehow.
“I was just joking.” I laughed to help ease the tension between us. “I like Prince Maximilian. That’s why I agreed to marry him. Besides, Maximilian is my mate. So I don’t have a choice but to marry him at the end.”
“Your mate?” Randolph laughed. “You know Rosanne, he’s not—”
“He’s not as kind as your think,” Ivan cut him off.
Randolph just rolled his eyes when Ivan interrupted him again.
“You’re wrong, Ivan,” I disagreed, “Even though I’ve just met Prince Maximilian, but I know he’s a nice guy. That’s why I want to marry him.”
“But Rosanne, do you know what will happen after you and Maximilian get married?” Alpha Adolph asked.
“We’re going to go for a honeymoon?” I guessed.
“It’s not what I meant.”
“Then what do you mean?”
“After your wedding, they will do a ritual to you,” he told me.
I frowned. “Ritual?”
“Yes.” He nodded.
“What kind of ritual?” I inquired out of curiosity.
“They said the ritual is to transform you into a vampire,” he replied.
