Rosangela: The Half-Blood Princess

Chapter 45

Ivan and I carried on walking until we reached a staircase. Finally, we went downstairs.

“Hi Mirabelle,” Randolph greeted me at the bottom of the stairs.

I replied him with a curt nod.

“Sorry, Mirabelle. Actually, I want to pick you up at your bedroom, but Ivan won’t allow me.” He glared at Ivan.

“How can I let a flirt like you near Mirabelle?” Ivan taunted.

“Hey I’m not a flirt,” Randolph defended himself.

“Yes, but you’re a pervert,” Ivan sneered.

Randolph’s jaw fell. “What?”

They both started bickering.

I giggled at the silliness of these two brothers.

'Wait? What’s wrong with me? Did I really just giggle at my kidnappers? Oh this kidnapping situation must be driving me insane,’ I thought.

I didn’t know why I wasn’t scared now just like when I was abducted by Sigmund. Maybe because it’s not my first time being kidnapped, or maybe because they treated me well so far. But I must not let my guard down. They were probably just waiting for a right time to do their evil plan to me.

I was suddenly pulled out of my trance when Ivan held my hand and yanked me forward. “Come on, Mirabelle! We’d better go to the kitchen now. You must be hungry.”

Ivan and I started strolling towards the kitchen.

“Hey I’m not done with you,” Randolph shouted after Ivan and me as he started after us.

Randolph and Ivan couldn’t stop squabbling over something silly all the way to the kitchen. I just shook my head at their behavior.

When we arrived at the kitchen, my eyes were drawn to a tall old man behind the kitchen island. He seemed to be nearing 50. But he still looked fit and muscular at his age. The only thing that made him look old was his blonde hair that was greying at the sides.

“Hello Rosangela. I’m glad to finally meet you,” the old man said with a warm smile.

My eyes widened. “You know my real name?”

“Of course. I know everything about you.” He smirked.

His remarks frightened me. They must have been stalking me from the human world to the vampire kingdom if they claimed that they knew everything about me.

“Wait! You said you know everything about me, but why did Ivan and Randolph keep calling me Mirabelle if they already knew my real name?” I asked curiously.

“Because you introduced yourself as Mirabelle, so I thought you wanted to be called with that name,” Ivan answered.

“Don’t blame me! Ivan urged me to call you Mirabelle,” Randolph accused.

Ivan glared at him.

“Well, since you all have known my real name, so I don’t want you to call me Mirabelle again. Please just call me Rosanne! It’s short for Rosangela,” I told them.

“Okay,” the brothers said in unison.

I turned to face the old man again. “I’m sorry. But who are you, Sir?”

“My name is Adolph Wolfgang,” the man replied. “He’s my son, Randolph.” He jerked his head at Randolph. “And that’s Ivan, my beta.” He pointed at Ivan.

So I'm really being kidnapped by a psychopath family? Great!’ I thought sarcastically.

But wait!’ I added, ‘Adolph told me that Ivan was his beta. What is that? I think I should ask him myself.’

“What is beta?” I enquired.

Adolph was about to speak, but Ivan interrupted, “You’ll find out soon enough, Rosanne.”

Ivan’s reluctance to answer my questions simply fanned my curiosity.

“Why can’t you let me know right now?” I inquired.

“Trust me! You don’t want to know, Rosanne,” Randolph said with a nervous smile.

Their strange attitude fueled my suspicion. I wanted to bombard them with a lot of questions, but I decided to bite my tongue. I was sure that they would never tell me if I asked them. So I had to find it out myself somehow.

“You must be hungry,” Adolph suddenly changed the subject, “I made a cheese and meat omelette. Are you okay with that?”

“Yes, it’s fine,” I answered.

“Please have a seat!” he said.

I sat in one of the chairs surrounded the island. Ivan sat beside me. Meanwhile, Randolph took a seat across from us.

Adolph set a plate in front of the three of us. After that, he sat down next to Randolph with a plate for himself.

I poked at the omelette with a fork and then put the omelette into my mouth. Adolph, Ivan, and Randolph started eating too.

I was glad finally I didn’t have to eat alone again just like when I was in the vampire kingdom.

Wait! Talking about vampires, I had never seen vampires eat human food before. At least not without blood in it. But I didn’t see a single drop of blood in these three guys’ food.

“I don’t know that vampires can eat human food without adding blood to it first,” I blurted out.

“That’s because we aren’t vampires,” Randolph said with his mouth full.

Startled, I dropped my fork.

They must be kidding me. I know that they are not human. But why did they say that hey’re not vampires?’ I thought in bewilderment.

To be honest, I was a little bit afraid to find out the answer, but I had to ask it anyway. “If you’re not vampires, then what are you?”

“You don’t want to know, Rosanne,” Ivan said coldly.

“No, I want to know it, Ivan,” I insisted.

They looked at each other meaningfully. When Adolph nodded his head, Ivan finally spoke up, “We are werewolves.”
