Rosangela: The Half-Blood Princess

Chapter 24

I went into my walk-in closet to get changed. Because I planned to escape tonight, I thought I should put on the clothes that I was wearing when I was kidnapped. Moreover, how could I run away with this fancy dress? I was sure I would trip before I could get far.

I looked through the racks of clothes, and checked in every drawer, but I couldn’t find my old clothes anywhere.

“Lupita?” I shouted, knowing she would hear me because she was standing by in front of my room.

Quick as a flash, Lupita appeared. “What can I help you, Rosanne?”

“Where did you put the clothes that I was wearing when the first time I came here?” I asked.

“Wh—why do you suddenly ask me about your clothes?” Lupita asked me back with nervous voice.

“I’ve got a date with Prince Maximilian tonight. I want to wear my old clothes because it’s the only casual outfit that I have,” I explained.

“I am so sorry, Rosanne, but I have trashed those clothes,” Lupita replied regretfully.

“You what?! Oh my God Lupita who told you to trash my clothes?” I ran my hands through my hair frustratedly.

“L—L—Lord Sigmund,” she stuttered, “He said that you no longer needed those clothes so he ordered me to throw them away.”

“Oh that jerk will pay for that!” I said furiously.

I left the walk-in closet and made my way towards the door. But I abruptly stopped in my track when I remembered something.

'Wait! No, I can’t see Sigmund now. If I met Sigmund, he would make my escape attempt fail. I’d better go to Maximilian now and get out of here as soon as possible,' I thought.

I tried the door and surprisingly it was opened. Maybe Lupita forgot to lock it when she came in.

“Where is Prince Maximilian?” I asked one of the guards whom I learned his name was Robert.

“Please follow me, Your Highness! Prince Maximilian is waiting for you in the foyer,” Robert answered.

“Okay, thank you.”

We, I mean Robert and I followed by 9 guards and Lupita, passed through many hallways and walked down several staircases until we reached the triple-height foyer entry with two staircases.

“Hi Future Husband, I’m sorry to have kept you waiting,” I greeted Prince Maximilian who was sitting on a sofa by the staircase.

Prince Maximilian stood up and stared at me from head to toe.

“Look at you! I thought you want to dress casually,” he mocked me.

“Yeah I planned to. But I have lost the only casual clothes I’ve got, thanks to our friend Sigmund,” I grumbled.

He chuckled at me but his laughter died down when I glared at him.

Prince Maximilian cleared his throat. “Come on, we have to go now if we want to return before the dawn.”

“Oh yeah I forgot that you vampires get burnt in the sun,” I teased.

“Actually, we don’t get burnt that easily in the sun, Princess. It only irritates us. The reason vampires choose not to go out at day because we are nocturnal creatures; we wake at night and sleep at day.”

“Yeah, yeah, I understand. Can we go now?” I said impatiently.

“Sure. Let’s go!” Prince Maximilian held out his hand to me.

I took his hand.

Before we went, Prince Maximilian talked to my bodyguards, “All of you don’t have to follow us. I have talked to King Bellamy, and His Majesty allowed me to take Princess Mirabelle out without her bodyguards.”

“Alright, Your Highness, we understand,” Robert said.

I breathed a sigh of relief when all of my bodyguards including Lupita left us alone.

At last, Prince Maximilian and I walked hand in hand out of the castle.
