REVENGE OF THE BETRAYED WOLF

Chapter Chapter twenty-four

Crono poured out his fury against the wall. The room vibrated with anger as he struggled to contain the chaos boiling in his mind. He took a deep breath, but the air came to him like a staccato sigh. He moved to the shelf, his trembling hands clutching a bottle of whisky. In one swift movement, he uncorked it, releasing the heady aroma.

He filled a glass with the liquid, his eyes reflecting the inner storm that consumed him. Without hesitation, he raised the glass to his lips, letting the fire of alcohol run down his throat. He closed his eyes, seeking relief from the burning. The whisky gave him a moment of calm. Crono dropped into a chair, bottle still in hand, trying to calm the storm raging inside him.

The next morning, Freya came downstairs as usual for breakfast. Crono was already at the table. Without glancing at him, she sat down and began to eat, deliberately ignoring Crono's presence. Despite his attempt to remain calm, he couldn't help glancing sideways at her, but his words stuck in his throat. Choosing to keep his distance, he rose and left the dining room, heading for the training grounds.

One week later. Crono chose to avoid entering Palas's room so as not to clash with his wife. He had already arranged for her to live in one of his properties, but he sensed that Palas was in a state of sadness and he found it difficult to expel her from the mansion. In Palas's room, Eris burst in and, spotting her cousin, rushed to her with a warm embrace.

"I'm glad you decided to come back sooner than expected. That witch tricked me into being thrown out of here. She's not the shy, sweet girl you portrayed me to be."

Palas clenched his hands angrily. He'd known Freya as a child and remembered her as a fragile, shy she-wolf. He couldn't understand how she'd turned into an arrogant, haughty she-wolf.

"My mother is furious that you couldn't control Freya. She should be submissive and insecure for my arrival." He gritted his teeth and squinted, "You should have provoked Crono's contempt for her. I sensed in his data that he'd already forgotten me, and I can't believe he's fallen for her."

"We must act quickly. I hear they're looking for Aunt Claudia. Crono doubts that Agamemnon is the traitor behind the attack on the herd."

"My mother is with Pirro, probably hiding. We must act quickly before Crono starts his investigation and discovers that I'm Claudia and Ginco's daughter. That damned Freya won't take Crono away from me. He belongs to me. Even if we can't make her despise us, I'll find a way to keep them apart. Just as her mother kept her mate away from mine, I'll do the same with her. I will never allow them to be together," his voice rumbled with rage, "Freya should never have been born. I should be the legitimate daughter of the alpha of the Sith, not Ginco's bastard."

"What are you planning to do, cousin? Besides, you've got to get me back into this pack and convince Crono to give me back my position here. It's unbearable to live without money." Eris frowns, concerned.

"I'll come up with a plan. For now, you'll come and see me. Avoid meeting Freya until I decide how to get her out of here and make her believe I'm still Crono's love."

Meanwhile, Pyrrhus is furious to discover that the orcs failed to wipe out his brother's herd, and that it was in fact his own niece who saved them.

"I hope your daughter does her homework and manages to get into Crono's bed. I want Freya in my hands. This she-wolf in my possession would be my best weapon against my enemies." "Pallas is already at the Apka mansion. Soon he'll remove that cursed Freya from Crono's life. I hope he suffers at your hands as much as Flavia." Claudia, replied with a cold look.

"Flavia's fate she brought about by preferring my brother to me, but her daughter's will be different. I will rule her and she will be my moon. This beautiful she-wolf will rule the land of the wolves at my side". Pyrrhus smiled mischievously. Claudia was burning with fury. She would never understand why Agamemnon and Pyrrhus fell in love with the same woman. A mischievous smile crept up on her and she whispered in her mind: "You took my pack from me, Flavia, which belonged to me by destiny, but I made you pay. I gave you to Pyrrhus, who led you to death, and the same fate awaits your daughter," he replied, snapping out of his thoughts. The Sith pack will be mine, that's understood. "Yes, yes, yes, yes, keep it. I just want to destroy Agamemnon and have Freya by my side. I don't understand why you helped me eliminate Ginco, and now you're helping me become master of these lands?" he asked with intrigue in his eyes. "Ginco used me as a mistress. After Palas was born, I tried to convince him to give me the position of mistress of this region, but I received nothing but insults and contempt from him," he said with a sinister laugh, "So we staged the farce that Crono had locked Palas in a dungeon and was whipping her. With my pretend drama, I fed him false information about our dying daughter, while Palas pretended to be Lea, a sweet and innocent she-wolf, the daughter of peasants whom Ginco had murdered in his obsession with her. That's how she took refuge in her Apka pack to protect herself."

"You convinced Crono and Ginco to take part in the masquerade. Mischievously, Pyrrhus let out a laugh: "Pallas was just as Machiavellian as you in urging Cronus to kill his father."

"That's what happened to them for not granting me the position of queen in this region. Ginco preferred to keep the insipid Isadora," he smiled disdainfully, "That idiot does well to serve you in bed, too bad her other daughter got away." "That little girl, when I find her, will pay for it. Let's wait for your daughter to act quickly to free my niece from Cronus' clutches and bring her back to me."

"Soon, Pyrrhus, I'll savor Agamemnon's defeat and witness his death, while you'll have his daughter under your rule." Claudia adds with satisfaction.

They looked at each other and burst into sinister laughter, gleefully anticipating the realization of their plans.
