REVENGE OF THE BETRAYED WOLF

Chapter Chapter thirty-four

"You let Mommy go because of that squeaky, rude she-wolf." Metis exclaimed as she finished eating, reached out her little hands to grab a glass of milk and brought it to her little mouth.

"Don't say that, daughter. Your mother is my companion and the only wolf I love. Circumstances and tangles have caused her to leave me," tears welled up in her eyes and her face reflected sadness, "I never felt their bond, my cubs. I can't believe I'm living this reality; I'm the father of three beautiful puppies. I'm sure you've come to illuminate so much sadness, so much darkness that surrounds me. It hurts my soul to think that you've rejected me, Metis. I know I've lost five years of your life, but I promise you that from now on I'll never part with you again. My love is exclusively for you, I promise."

"Daddy, don't cry. Psyche got down from the chair and walked over to him, "I forgive you, I want to have a mommy and daddy." She wrapped her arms around him and hugged him, while Crono pressed his daughter against his chest to calm his fears, then rose with her in his arms.

"Let's get some sleep. Someone will be waiting outside to take you to my office," he looked at Metis and swallowed, it was like seeing Freya furious, unlike the color of her hair and eyes, "We'll talk and I'll clear up anything you want to know. Metis got down from the chair and so did Ajax. The little girl tried to walk and struggled, her legs trembling. Ajax rushed to take her by the hand and hold her shoulder.

At the sight of him, Crono's body shuddered. Sadness invaded his mind. Instinctively, he moved towards her and carried her. The girl was slapping him, angry with him. "Metis, calm down. I just want to take you to the bedroom, then I want you to tell me what happened to you."

"Dad, Metis was born sick and now she's walking, but she can't walk for long.

"You're a meddler, Psyche. Who asked you? He has no right to know about me," she said resentfully, and Typhon let out a howl of sadness.

Psyche started crying her eyes out, and Crono didn't know what to do. At that moment, he was in the grip of all kinds of emotions and his soul was bleeding to death.

"Mr. Crono, if you don't mind, I'll take one of the girls wherever you tell me to go," said Lucia, who came out of the kitchen when she heard the girls' cries, and when she saw them, she knew they were Freya's.

"Calm me down. Leave the crybaby with the master." Metis held out her little hands and leapt into Lucia's arms.

"Don't tell me, sir, if you don't want to call me daddy. Call me Crono," he said, hugging Psyche to calm her, "Lucia, let's go to Freya's room."

They struggled up the stairs, reached the bedroom and Crono opened the door with a sigh. They entered the space he frequented every evening, with a bottle of whisky as the only witness to his nostalgic thoughts. They laid the children on the bed, and when they laid their little heads on the pillow, they fell asleep.

Claudia had barely finished her conversation with Palas when she turned to meet the imposing figure of Pyrrhus, who had been listening in. Without a word, she seized him firmly by the throat with her left hand.

"You were talking to your treacherous daughter, tell me. Where's Freya? You know."

"Why do you treat me like this? Are you going to kill me for that she-wolf? After having been your lover, your wife, your partner, your accomplice."

Pyrrhus suddenly let go of her.

"You know very well I wasn't going to kill you, but now tell me what that damned Palas told you."

"Three children came into Crono's herd today, pretending to be his children, guess who's the mother?

"It's not possible. His face changed to a mixture of astonishment and fury.

"They came with two orcs, which means they've always been with their friend Isis, guarded by those beasts," he laughed, "She did the same thing to you as your Flavia: she gave birth to three little ones who are now with their father. Pyrrhus was furious, he couldn't believe his ears; his eyes darkened and, looking at Claudia, he uttered.

"These children, along with their father, will disappear today. When Freya shows up, she'll find herself without family, and I'll be able to have her as I please. Her punishment will be to see her companion and children dead," he turned and went out to prepare his men; that very night, he was to attack the Apka herd.

Crono was in his office, pacing nervously. He felt as if his world had come to a standstill and anguish was seizing him. Just then, Dionysus entered with astonishment in his eyes; the guards had informed him of the children who had appeared in the forest.

"Our men have already informed me about the three children, where are they?"

"Can you believe Dionysus that I'm a father?" His voice was stunned, "I have three puppies. I spent five years in solitude, thinking Freya would never come back into my life. Today, the goddess Selene brings me out of my darkness and gives me a reason to go on living for my children."

"Are you sure this isn't a trap set by one of your enemies and that they've come to confuse you? You told me that since Freya left, you've had no connection with her, and if they were yours, you'd have felt it."

"I felt that connection today, Dionisio. They look just like her, but with my gray eyes and hair the same color. They're perfect." Crono's face saddened, "They're a puppy and two puppies; little Metis is sick, I don't really know what happened to her, but she can't walk well. You see, she's the brightest and most intelligent of the three, she's the one who was planning to look for me to ask for an explanation as to why I abandoned her mother." "By the goddess Selene, Crono, I am now uncle to three children. Your mother will be happy when she finds out."

"Yes, warn him to be with them. I don't want the harpy Palas anywhere near them, I'm afraid she means them harm. Lucia is watching them right now; when they touched the bed, they fell asleep. Take care of the orcs, take them to one of the manor's cabins and feed them. They look harmless and they came with the children."

Dionysius swallowed hard, he was afraid of these beasts, he knew how strong they could be.

"Congratulations, my friend, it won't be long before Freya comes to fetch them. Good luck with our beast, though she owes you a lot of explaining," he let out a heavy sigh, "I'll do as you asked," he turned his back and stormed out while making a phone call.
