Chapter Chapter thirty three
Crono followed the guard out of the mansion, skirting it silently. As he reached the entrance, he stopped abruptly when he came upon a scene that startled him. Two beasts with children on them. Ajax and Psyche, crying inconsolably, under the bewildered gaze of the guards. Crono advanced cautiously, his heart racing at the mixture of curiosity and suspicion flooding his thoughts.
"Crono asked in a firm voice, though a feeling of unease settled in his gut. Métis's gaze met his, and in her eyes was an anger that caught Crono's attention. "You're Crono, aren't you?"
"Yes," Crono replied, his eyes scanning the girl on the back of one of the orcs; her small face was strangely familiar. He looked at her gray eyes, her brown hair, and a lump formed in his throat. He swallowed, heaved a sigh and continued, surprised: "And you."
"You're Daddy," repeated a cuddly little voice,
"What?" exclaimed Crono, still reeling from the surprise, as he followed the other little voice coming from the other orc. He froze for a moment at the words. "The girl called me daddy" crossed his mind. Typhoon threw himself to the ground in a mixture of bewilderment and astonishment. The child's sweet voice rang in his ears, leaving him speechless.
"Daddy, help Psyche go to bed. I'm tired and hungry," Psyche said tenderly, confidently holding out her little hand to Crono.
"I'm tired too. We've come a long way to find you," said Ajax, with an expression of exhaustion and sleep in his eyes.
Crono looked at Ajax and Psyche with admiration and confusion, feeling a bond with these children.
Brothers, please stop calling this gentleman "Dad". We only came here for an explanation and because we have no connection with this pack," intervened Metis, annoyed by her siblings' behavior. "Metis, can you walk?" asked Ajax, concerned.
Metis replied with a smile and stroked the fur of Boox, the orc, who bent down to gently lower her.
"Dad, you should take Metis with you. She can't move for long. Her little legs hurt," Psyche said tenderly, her small voice echoing in the air.
"I told you I could do it alone," protested Metis, but Crono noticed the trace of pain in her eyes.
Crono approached Psyche, feeling an inexplicable bond with the young girl. He looked at her tenderly and held out his hands.
"Little half-breed, that's what we call you. Let me take you to eat in the dining room, then tell me where you're from and who your mother is."
"My name is Psyche, Daddy," said the little girl, laughing and pointing to her little finger, "and this is my little brother Ajax. We're triplets. My mommy's name is Freya, and we learned from Metis that you're our daddy." Typhoon, meanwhile, reacted enthusiastically. Tongue hanging out, eyes shining and tail wagging frantically, Typhon couldn't contain his excitement at learning that the children were his little ones.
"They're our little ones, Crono!" exclaimed Typhon, jumping up and down and howling with delight, "they've come to get us. They're ours, they look just like you."
Crono was caught up in a whirlwind of emotions. Crono gasped, assimilating the revelation, as conflicting feelings churned inside him. Psyche moved his shirt with her small right hand, causing him to react.

He approached Psyche and wore it too, looking sympathetically at Ajax, he said.
"Champ, follow me. Let's eat and then we'll talk."
The warriors watch this poignant scene in silence. Shock and amazement are reflected on their faces as they realize they now have little ones to protect.
Crono entered the mansion and entered the dining room with the girls in his arms. He asked them to prepare delicious meals for the little ones, while he himself stood in amazement, watching each of them. Métis's gaze made him uncomfortable.
The children sat down at the table and began to enjoy the meal that had been prepared for them, but the calm was interrupted by the arrival of Palas in the dining room. At the sight of the three children, an expression of contempt came over his face and he said in a coarse tone.
"My love, what are these children doing eating in our dining room? Shame on servants who let their children disrupt the alpha."
Crono, furious to hear him say these words, was determined to protect his little ones who were now part of his life. The truth about his origins and the bond he felt for them had to be discovered, but he was now ready to face any obstacle for the well-being of his children.
"Measure your vocabulary in front of my children. I'm warning you, Palas. Stay away from them, because if anything happens to them, I'll kill you with my own hands." Typhoon shuddered, saying, "Calm down, Crono, you'll scare our little ones. So take care of her."
"It's because of that horrible howling she-wolf that you let my mommy go," Ajax said, raising his eyebrows.
"Don't give that wolf any importance. You'd better keep eating," says Crono.

"Dad, can you cut up my food and give it to me? I can't do it on my own," says Psyche, pouting.
"Psyche, don't tell him Daddy. He owes us a lot of explanations. That's why I didn't want to bring them." Métis vociferated her annoyance, crossing her little arms. Her brothers had ruined her plans, she just wanted answers.
Crono felt his heart twist at his little one's answer, but he knew he needed more information. Curiosity and a desire to know the truth prompted him to ask.
"How old are they?
"Five. In four months, we'll be six," replied Psyche with an infectious laugh.
Ajax, with a more serious expression, speaks up.
"Sir, I woke up when I saw Metis leave the room. Psyche and I decided to follow her, and she told us what she knew about our father. We decided to go with her." She lowered her small face in a sad voice and added: "I just wanted to see my father. We're still surrounded by orcs and a few wolves, but they're few and far between."
Lamia blushed, she had been listening in the distance, she had only moved away a little, but Ajax's words had hit her hard. At the mention of orcs, her mind reacted automatically.
"Freya, the cursed one, has escaped with a child. He clenched his fists and walked to his room, thinking about what he could do.
Crono looked at Ajax with a mixture of surprise and tenderness. For the first time in a long time, a warm smile spread across his face as he spoon-fed Psyche.
"When you've finished eating, I'll take you to your mother's room when she lived here. The dining room fills with a momentary silence as the children continue to eat.
