Chapter Chapter thirty-eight
A few minutes earlier, Freya arrived to find chaos in the middle of the herd. When the carriage came to a halt, she quickly dismounted and recognized one of the manor guards, he was badly injured, she ran to him and asked urgently. "Where are the children and Crono?
The guard, between gasps, replied.
"The children have been taken to a shelter, and the alpha is there," he raised a hand and pointed, "fighting with Pyrrhus."
Freya looked up to where the warrior had pointed and saw Boox; she knew her daughter would be there and ran towards them. Her eyes burned with fear and rage.
"Well, well, who do we have here, my dear niece and my brother's insect," Pyrrhus exclaimed, seeing Agamemnon arrive just then. A few Kelpies were approaching, creating an aura of fear.
"Freya, take Métis and get out of here. I'll take care of Pyrrhus," roared Cronus in a deep, menacing voice.
Pyrrhus let out a sinister laugh and drew his sword, fixing his sharp eyes on Crono.
"Look at you, you miserable human. I'd be doing my niece a favor if I killed you in front of her. I don't understand how the goddess Selene could choose you as a companion. Freya, an angel who exudes power and beauty, and you, a wolf who was so easily manipulated by a she-wolf with a tender, docile face, but an ambitious, sinister spirit."
"What a heartless, soulless being have you become, my brother? Wanting to harm your own family out of sheer ambition!" exclaims Agamemnon with indignation and sadness.
"I ceased to be your brother the day you took my companion away from me. She was mine by right, but the good wolf had to appear to save her. However, that love didn't last, because it was I who took her; the naive girl decided to end her life because of you." Pyrrhus with an evil smile approached his brother.
"How?" exclaimed Agamemnon, clenching his fists. He never knew who had kidnapped his wife. By then, Pyrrhus had disappeared from their lives, and he never suspected his own brother. "How did you get into the pack without having access to it?"
"You remember Claudia, don't you? She dragged Flavia into the forest with one of her tricks. Claudia had the right to move freely on these lands. Flavia wasn't kidnapped; she voluntarily left your pack and fell into Claudia's trap, in my hands. Unfortunately, all she did was cry and beg for mercy. Some time later, the madman found her hanging from her bedroom window."
"That's impossible. How could you kill her? You're a monster."
"Yes, little brother, you took her from me and I took her back. After she died, my heart was empty until the day I saw Freya in the forest," he said with sparkling eyes. "Watching her dance among the flowers, I remembered Flavia as a young girl, when I'd spotted her hiding as she bathed in the waterfall. From that moment I knew she was made for me, then I discovered she was my ideal companion," he said, clenching his jaw and grinding his teeth, "but the fool rejected me in front of everyone, and that I wouldn't tolerate. Yes, dear little brother, I wouldn't let her go, she was mine again. I made her my wife, but she decided to commit suicide."

Agamemnon felt a strong pressure in his heart, at that moment he was no longer reasoning, he just wanted to kill his brother, he drew his sword and quickly approached Pyrrhus; everything happened in the blink of an eye. Pyrrhus reacted instantly and Cronus stepped in, Pyrrhus' sword piercing him mercilessly.
"Noooo... !" cried Métis in anguish, tears of despair beading in her eyes as she walked swiftly towards Crono.
Freya felt everything slipping away from her as she saw Crono helpless, clutching his hands to his chest, and his daughter crying in despair. Fury seized her, giving Phoenix permission to emerge. The silver-spotted blue she-wolf saw wolves trying to attack her father and growled loudly, her icy breath coming out of her mouth and freezing the wolves' paws, beginning to push them back with massive fury. Sienna joined them and grabbed Agamemnon's arm.
"Help me get Crono out of here. This place is going to freeze any minute, he needs help."
"Look who we have here, Ginco's defector and Isadora's daughter. You should be on my side, not on the side of the man who killed your father," cries Pirro, guarded by Kelpies.
"You're a coward, Pyrrhus. Stop hiding behind these men and fight like an alpha wolf. You think I don't know that damned Claudia and her daughter Palas framed my father? If my mother hadn't helped me escape, I'd be outraged and dead because of you." Sienna expelled in a voice laden with rage and frustration.

"So it was that damned man who helped you escape! When I win this battle, you'll see how your mother will suffer for her betrayal." Pyrrhus turned his head to Phoenix, who was fighting his wolves, "Surround the she-wolf and attack. She can't defeat them alone, smoke her, but don't kill her," then he turned to Sienna, "You and Freya will be the wolves who serve me during my reign.
"I won't allow it. You will die this very instant." Agamemnon raises his sword, but Sienna stops him: "Agamemnon, stop. Pyrrhus is a cheat and, worse still, his men could kill you before he does."
"Agamemnon's jaw clenched as he looked at Pyrrhus, surrounded by his henchmen. He had no fear of dying in battle, but his heart pounded when he heard a small voice. "Grandpa! Mr. Crono is dying! We must take him to Aunt Isis for treatment! She'll cure him."
Agamemnon turned to see his granddaughter, a small figure with bloodied hands on her father's chest. Crono coughed, expelling the blood trapped in his throat. Tears rolled down his cheeks at the sight of his daughter in such a state. In his mind, he prayed to the goddess Selene to take his daughter away from him. She couldn't speak, she felt as if she were suffocating. She weakly reached out and wiped a tear from her daughter's cheek.
"You can't die. I want a lot of explanations as to why you and Mom aren't together. And if you want me to call you Dad, you have to earn it. Dead, you'll be nothing but a coward." He turned to Agamemnon, his eyes puffy, and said in desperation, "Grandpa, help me save Mr. Crono."
Agamemnon, seeing his granddaughter's distress, heaved a great sigh and ran to her. As best he could, he caught Crono, while Sienna carried the child and led them to a makeshift tent in the forest. Sienna obeyed the order transmitted to her by Fénix to get them out of there.
